Shane Beamer toured at sporting events in South Carolina.

The Gamecocks head football coach spent Sunday afternoon at Colonial Life Arena watching the 13th straight SEC win for Dawn Staley’s No. 1 Gamecocks more then-No. 12 Tennessee in front of a sold-out crowd.

Beamer attended a USC men’s basketball game in January to catch Frank Martin’s team, and he showed up to a Gamecocks hockey game with his son earlier in February.

On Monday, Beamer opened her press conference by congratulating a successful weekend in Gamecocks athletics – women’s basketball, softball, baseball, women’s tennis, swimming and diving, men’s basketball and men’s tennis.

“Awesome weekend for Carolina athletics,” Beamer said. “(I’m) glad to be back in town here for a while and not having to travel to recruit. I’m really looking forward to getting out and watching more and more of these teams as we enter spring as well.

Beamer clearly had fun during his athletic stops at USC, bringing his kids to the stands and connecting with fans at games.

During Sunday’s women’s basketball game, Beamer met former Gamecocks football players Stephon Gilmore, Jaycee Horn and Deebo Samuel. Beamer also said he was proud to see SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey on hand Sunday to watch over USC and Tennessee.

“Congratulations to Coach Staley and his team, what an awesome environment and an example for so many people to see of what this place is all about,” Beamer said. “The fan support we have here, it was great to be a part of that.”

Beamer led the 18,000 fans at Colonial Life Arena in chanting “Gamecocks” leading up to “Sandstorm” before Sunday’s women’s basketball game. Although he noted that being a fashionable man might not be in his immediate future, Beamer said he enjoyed the experience.

“It was a great experience for me,” Beamer said. “Really great and humbled to be able to go out there and be part of that atmosphere yesterday, and what a great win.”

Spring football training begins on March 15 with the annual Garnet and Black spring game to be held at night at the Williams-Brice stadium. The scrimmage will take place on April 16 at 7 p.m. and is scheduled for an SEC Network Plus stream.

Beamer teased that there will be plenty of high school rookies attending this year’s USC spring game, and he’s calling for the biggest ever turnout for the evening showcase.

“I know there is so much excitement – and will continue to be – about the environment and the atmosphere,” Bemaer said. “We have to make this the highest-attended spring football game, the Garnet and Black game, in South Carolina football history because it’s going to be a great night for sure.”
