Sber and NMG create joint venture to broadcast sporting events – Business & Economy

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Sberentertainment Group and the National Media Group (NMG) holding company have established a joint venture named Telesport Group, which will acquire the rights to broadcast the biggest international sports events on the territory of Russia, Sberentertainment’s press service told TASS.

“Sberentertainment’s share in the registered capital of the new company amounts to 80%. NMG will hold 20%. It is planned that the company will directly acquire the rights to the largest international sporting events for broadcasting on Russian territory”, said the press. said the service.

The joint venture will be led by Telesport founder and owner Petr Makarenko and his team will join the company. “The transition from the Telesport team to the created joint venture will help maximize the effects of the opportunities and experience of all parties,” Makarenko told TASS.

Sporting events in Telesport’s portfolio are the 2022 and 2024 Olympics, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Cups, Mixed Martial Arts tournaments and other events.

“We will be able, in partnership with NMG, to simultaneously satisfy the public’s interest in sports in the digital environment and in the traditional TV viewing format,” said Sberentertainment’s press service. The National Media Group also believes that world-class sporting events will be better presented in the Russian market in partnership with Sberentertainment.
