Wynn Sports app launched in Colorado, Indiana

Develop an existing partnership

Wynn Resorts and Scientific Games Corporation extend their existing partnership agreement by launching the Wynn Sports app in Colorado and Indiana. The service provider will power digital sports betting offerings in both states as Wynn expands its sports betting reach in the United States.

accessible on iOS or Android devices as well as on the brand’s website

The extension of the partnership comes just over a month after the launch of the Wynn Sports app in New Jersey. Scientific Games provides sports betting and iGaming platforms for the app. The offer is accessible on iOS or Android devices as well as on the brand’s website.

Wynn Sports app in Colorado and Indiana

Scientific Games will power the Wynn Sports app in both states, using the OpenSports solution. The OpenSports product is modular and flexible, providing operators with customization solutions. Wynn Sports will also use the OpenPlatform product, a player account management system.

deliver unmissable sports betting and iGaming experiences

Group CEO, Digital for Scientific Games, Jordan Levin, said the company is excited to work with Wynn Resorts as the partnership grows. “We look forward to expanding entertainment opportunities and bringing must-have sports betting and iGaming experiences to players in these states,” he said.

Enter new markets

As Wynn Sports moves into Colorado and Indiana, it enters relatively new betting markets. Colorado launched sports betting in May, even though most sports have been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the lack of sports, the state has had a fairly successful start to its sports betting industry.

The first month of legalized sports betting saw players wagering over $25.6 million. Table tennis received the most bets with $6.6 million. MMA fighting, baseball, football, and golf were also popular sports among players.

The sports betting industry in Indiana is a bit more established. Sportsbooks started offering betting in September 2019. Online sportsbooks have been gaining momentum in recent months, with Unibet joining the fray after gaining approval in late July 2020.

Betcha prioritizes social gaming in new Fantasy Sports app

By Sports app

As the sport continues its tumultuous comeback during the pandemic, a new daily fantasy sports platform is betting that a less transactional experience – based on elements of social gaming – will appeal to casual fans more broadly.

After closing a $ 2 million funding round led by Sinai Ventures, Muse Capital and B-Fore Capital, Betcha is getting off to a smooth start this week as a daily fantasy sports platform for traditional sports and esports with real money games. But the company doesn’t just want to be another FanDuel or DraftKings, so it’s building a “social gamified experience” to unlock network effects and differentiate itself from more number-oriented platforms.

“Our vision is to turn game prediction into a game by combining the ability to win real money with unique and social gamification features,” said Jason Shapiro, Betcha Revenue Director.

This strategy includes borrowing from elements of successful social fitness companies such as Peloton and Strava, which leverage geographic and interest-specific peer groups to drive engagement. Peloton, for example, allows people with common interests, like moms in the San Francisco Bay Area, to unlock carpool badges or compete for places on the leaderboards to hold each other accountable. Betcha’s version is all about having fan-based ownership challenges with people who share, for example, similar team loyalties. Any New York Yankees fan, for example, could compete for a chance to become a virtual commissioner, owner or general manager who will unlock prizes, merchandise, tickets and VIP experiences.

“Peloton is an interesting competition for us,” said Shapiro. “We’re both taking a single player game and layering social elements on top of it.”

Betcha also borrows from playbooks from social game companies like Fortnite and Candy Crush to create network effects. It does this by creating a financial incentive for groups of friends to submit bets together, even if they are supporting opposing teams. Users can invite up to five of their Betcha friends to submit entries for a particular event. For each friend who also places an entry on the same game, all potential payouts increase by 0.1x, giving everyone the chance to increase their winnings by 0.5x per game.

“When you’re in that real-life setting and betting against each other and there’s a component of trash talk, or betting with each other and looking for the same outcome, that’s the thing. ‘experience that people tend to gravitate towards, ”Shapiro says. “It creates a ton of value on the platform to do it together even if you don’t agree.”

Betcha has put a lot of effort into figuring out why social games make people “spend so much time, money and effort on perfecting themselves and securing things that have no tangible value.” Betcha allows users to follow friends or influencers and engage with their choices, go on missions, appear in leaderboards, and complete challenges. The games are structured like props (think: top / bottom) in which users compete against the house, similar to Betcha Monkey Knife Fight competitor.

It also uses a virtual currency that cannot be withdrawn to further incentivize users to submit entries. Normally, in a parlay (multi-bet), a user would lose if they missed a single choice. At Betcha, a user will get back part of their Betcha Bucks entry fee if they get 50% or more of their correct choice.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has caused extreme uncertainty in sports and barred fans from attending matches in person, it has created an immediate need to connect through digital platforms in a social way. Shapiro highlights the success esports and mobile games had during the sports blackout as an example of how consumers are looking for connection online.

“The growth of mobile gaming continues to be off the charts,” Shapiro says. “We think the ability to do these things through our platform, and the fact that we see ourselves almost as a game in and of itself rather than a new sports and fantasy betting platform, is going to align quite well with that. the new COVID standard. “

Added to this is the desire of physical casino operators to attract younger fans to their online gaming platforms and associated outlets, especially since many of them have been forced to close for a few years. months during quarantine. This trend started before the pandemic, however, with Penn National Gaming buying a stake in Barstool Sports in February in an effort to attract younger consumers.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, Scott Butera, President of Interactive Gaming at MGM Resorts International, said that sports-related experiences (like sports betting) have fueled engagement and led to revenue growth for his products and brands. He predicted that more festive experiences around the sport would boost global betting and introduce more casual fans to predictive gambling.

“If you create some kind of competition out of sports betting where it’s not just about checking your bank statement, it’s about seeing where you stack up against your peers, or creating a stadium experience. where you have people competing against each other or in other arenas, you can create something much more interesting, ”said Butera.

Betcha aims to seek partnership opportunities in the months and years to come, which could include partnering with a major gaming operator to bring sports betting to its more laid-back fan base, or act as a fantastic white label product. which could be used by non-endemic sports and media brands. Casino companies “have an aging demo and are struggling to attract young people,” Shapiro explains. “There is no doubt that some of the elements that we have incorporated will be attractive for a young demo. “

And although there were initially fears that this trend could lead to “a lot of cannibalization” in the industry, Shapiro says it is also possible “that the opposite is true and that they may in fact reach younger consumers. where they are not necessarily going to these places.

Betcha has obtained regulatory approval to immediately launch in 20 states plus DC, with plans to eventually deploy 30 or more. Among his notable advisers are Seth Schorr, president of Fifth Street Gaming; Neil Shah, former head of design at Verizon and chief marketing officer of Venmo; and two former executives of DraftKings.

“Sports betting marketing as it is today has not changed for 30 years, although people in the industry say there is clearly an opportunity to do so,” Shapiro said. “We hope to be at the forefront of moving this experience forward.”

Launch of the Wynn Sports app in New Jersey with an online casino

By Sports app

There’s a new app in town, and it’s Wynn Sports. After a five-day smooth launch approved by the Gaming Law Enforcement Division on July 27, the Wynn Sports app is available in New Jersey.

With Wynn now live via the Caesars Interactive licensed, there are 18 NJ sports betting apps.

Users can access the platform through ios and Android devices, as well as by visiting wynnsports.com. Customers using an Android device can download the app from the website.

Wynn Sports is powered by a European company BetBull Limited and Gaming solutions for global payments.

Perfect timing for Wynn Sports

August is normally one of the slowest months on the NJ sports betting calendar.

Think about it.

Most years, Major League Baseball is the only sport in progress.

But due to the global pandemic, the major professional sports leagues are in the early stages of their respective reboots.

So here are some of the current betting options at Wynn Sports:

PGA Tour the odds, however, were not live Tuesday afternoon. One would assume that this is also a work in progress.

The PGA Championship, the first of three major tournaments, kicks off Thursday morning. And Tiger woods is playing.

Click a thumbnail below to view screenshots of the Wynn Sports iOS app:

Wynn NJ Online Casino is also live

Like many other NJ online sportsbooks, Wynn integrated their sports betting into an NJ online casino. Users will have access to a shared wallet.

However, like the sports app, Wynn Casino currently has limited offers.

There is no such thing as blackjack, roulette, or poker. And the slots library includes just over 40 titles. Here is a selection:

  • 200K Jester Jackpot
  • Starmania
  • Astonished
  • irish eyes 2
  • Money rush

So it looks like Wynn is slowly growing his online gaming portfolio in New Jersey. BetBull has informed Play in New Jersey that much more is planned for the application.

With the start of Paris NFL Fast approaching, the list of offers will expand in the coming weeks.

In the process, New Jersey customers have another online bookie to try out as a comeback of the sport.

Call it a Wynn win.

Comcast and NBC Sports app violated avalanche ranking game broadcast ban rules – The Denver Post

By Sports app

Comcast broke blackout rules by hosting the Avalanche’s first ranking match on Sunday on its NHL Center Ice platform.

The game against the St. Louis Blues was also broadcast on the NBC Sports app, which was also subject to a power outage.

Comcast owns NBCUniversal and is in a high-profile commercial feud with Altitude Sports, which held the exclusive rights to Sunday’s game in the Denver area.

Among the “big three” TV providers in the region, Altitude is currently only available on DirecTV, with Comcast and Dish Network unable to strike a distribution rights agreement with the regional sports network.

Comcast, which is also involved in a dispute with Altitude, said the broadcast of Sunday’s game was “human error” by entering blackout restriction codes.

“We are taking the appropriate protections to prevent this from happening again in the future,” Comcast spokeswoman Leslie Oliver told The Post.

Comcast deferred questions about the violation of the NBCSports app to NBC, and an NBC executive wrote in a statement, “It was human error, and we are taking appropriate action to prevent it from happening again.”

In a statement to the Post, Altitude CEO Matthew Hutchings said: The NHL informed us last night that Comcast showed the Avalanche vs. Blues game to its subscribers on the Center Ice package in the outdoor market in the Denver area. The league said it was a mistake on Comcast’s part and said Comcast assured the NHL that Comcast had fixed the situation so it wouldn’t happen again. We understand that the Avs / Blues game was also made available by NBC / Comcast on the NBC Sports app in the Metro Denver area. By NHL rules, that too should have been unavailable. NBC SportsNet has the ability to ensure that games are only broadcast where it is permitted by NHL rules to distribute games. It is ironic that these mishaps have occurred in a market where Comcast continues to refuse to offer Altitude on the same terms and conditions that other distributors have agreed to.

As for the rules, there seems to be a misconception that Altitude Sports is blocking games in the region. Altitude Sports continues to televise avalanche games in the Denver area, as it has for sixteen years. Comcast and Dish Network have both refused to negotiate deals that would allow their customers to watch Avalanche games on Altitude. The NHL maintains an exclusive regional zone for home broadcasts in the 31 markets that have teams. Under NHL rules, television broadcasts of NHL games on NBC SportNet are not broadcast on the domestic market of any of these teams. Altitude Sports does not exclude these games. Altitude Sports signs agreements with the team and its distributors that cover the national market designated by the NHL. Apart from its obligations to distribute the games, Altitude does not have the right or the authority to create a blackout, and even if it could lift a blackout, Altitude would be prohibited by its agreements with its other distributors from doing so. To do.

We encourage Comcast and DISH Network to strike a deal that would return Altitude, the Nuggets and the Avalanche to their hometown fans.

Sports App Sleeper Nets $20M in Series B Led by a16z, Counts NBA Stars Kevin Durant and Baron Davis as Investors

By Sports app

Sleeper, which developed a social and gaming platform for sports, raised a $20 million Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

Subscribe to the Daily Crunchbase

A slew of other (high-profile) investors joined in the investment, bringing the San Mateo, Calif.-based company’s total investment to $27.3 million since its inception in 2015, according to Crunchbase data.

NBA Star Baron Davis, NFL Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster, ESPN analyst Ros Gold Onwude, Twitch COO Kevin Lin and the a16z Cultural Leadership Fund have also invested money in Series B. existing funds General Catalyst, Birchmere Ventures and Rainfall were also involved. NBA star Kevin Durant and Thirty Five Ventures co-founder Rich Kleiman took part in Series A of Sleeper.

The origin story of the startup is actually sweet. Longtime friends who have stayed in touch over the years, bonded by a shared love of the sport, came up with the premise of Sleeper.

The company started as a messaging platform that served as a way for people to connect socially through sports. It has since evolved into a gaming platform with fantastic leagues “that even your grandma can use”.

Sleeper launched fantasy football in 2018, and by 2019 had over 1 million active players (making it the fastest growing sports app in the world, according to the company).

Today, the startup is making its esports debut with a season-long fantasy League of Legends game. The game will be available in five competitive leagues in their respective regions: North America, Europe, Korea, Brazil, and Vietnam.

“Our popularity is driven by our emphasis on the social elements of sports,” said CEO and co-founder Nan Wang. “People use sports as an excuse to hang out with people they care about and Sleeper gives them a vehicle to do that virtually.”

The company has more than doubled its number of employees to 23 since the start of 2020. It plans to use its new capital to scale its products.

“We want to take what we’ve done with soccer and expand it into other sports and esports, such as professional and college basketball,” Wang told Crunchbase News. “With the shelter-in-place happening and no sports going on, people want to play with each other more than ever.”

Investor’s point of view

One of my favorite things about this funding round is how NBA player Baron Davis got involved. He was an actual user of the product and reached out to the company through the app to find out how he could get involved and talk to the management team.

“I ignored it, because I didn’t believe it was really him,” Wang recalled. “Then I got a LinkedIn invite from one of his associates and realized it was actually him.”

Davis believed in the product’s mission and even asked his mother to play fantasy league on Sleeper last year, Wang said.

“Sleeper is the only platform that allows me to connect and share intimate experiences with friends, colleagues and fans,” Davis said in a statement. “Sleeper builds a community of people who care about their sports and esports teams, their players, their culture, while playing in fantastic leagues for bragging rights. My mom learned to play this year, and she’s even more competitive than me!”

The team was particularly proud of Onwude’s involvement as they say they have worked hard to make Sleeper more inclusive.

“We have more women on our platform than any other fantasy sports platform,” Wang said. “Three out of 10, compared to 1 out of 10.”

Unsurprisingly, the majority of its users are under 35.

For Andrew Chen of a16z, who led the round, Sleeper is a creative way to help people stay connected.

“For many sports fans, Sleeper becomes the center of gravity,” he said in a phone conversation last week. “I like the idea of creating this center of gravity.”

Moreover, it was just “very clear” to Chen that the Sleeper team were “complete visionaries in space”.

From his first conversations with the co-founders, they were already talking about expanding the platform to include football, basketball, and esports.

“I loved the ambition and energy they threw from the start around creating a single app for people to play a variety of sports,” he said.

And finally, it’s clear to a16z that what Sleeper does works.

“When an app goes from zero to 1 million active users, and people use it almost every day without buying installs or ads, and bringing other friends into the product, you know people really love this thing,” Chen said. News from Crunchbase.

Reporter’s Note: This story was updated after publication to reflect new information provided by the company regarding the timing of Kevin Durant’s investment.

A large number of other (high profile) investors participated in the investment, bringing the total capital of the San Mateo, Calif., Company raised to $ 27.3 million since its inception in 2015, according to data from Crunchbase.

NBA Star Baron Davis, NFL Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster, ESPN analyst Ros Gold Onwude, Twitch COO Kevin Lin and the a16z Cultural Leadership Fund have also invested money in Series B. existing funds General Catalyst, Birchmere Ventures and Rainfall were also involved. NBA star Kevin Durant and Thirty Five Ventures co-founder Rich Kleiman competed in the Sleeper’s Series A.

The origin story of the startup is actually sweet. Longtime friends who have stayed in touch over the years, bound by a shared love of the sport, came up with the premise behind Sleeper.

The company started out as a messaging platform that allowed people to connect socially on sports. It has since evolved into a gaming platform with some fantastic “even your grandma can use” leagues.

Sleeper kicked off fantasy football in 2018 and in 2019 had over 1 million active players (making it the fastest growing sports app in the world, according to the company).

Today, the startup is making its esports debut with a fantastic one-season League of Legends game. The game will be available in five competitive leagues in their respective regions: North America, Europe, Korea, Brazil and Vietnam.

“Our popularity is driven by our emphasis on the social elements of sport,” said CEO and co-founder Nan Wang. “People use sports as an excuse to spend time with loved ones and Sleeper gives them a vehicle to do so virtually.”

The company has more than doubled its number of employees to 23 since the start of 2020. It plans to use its new capital to evolve its products.

“We want to take what we’ve done with football and expand it to other sports and esports, such as professional and college basketball,” Wang told Crunchbase News. “With shelter in place and no sport, people want to play with each other more than ever. “

Investor’s POS

One of my favorite things about this fundraising round is the way NBA player Baron Davis got involved. He was an actual user of the product and contacted the company through the app to find out how he could get involved and speak to the management team.

“I ignored him, because I didn’t believe it was really him,” Wang recalls. “Then I got a LinkedIn invitation from one of his associates and realized it was actually him. “

Davis believed in the product’s mission and even had his mom play in a fantasy league on Sleeper last year, Wang said.

“Sleeper is the only platform that allows me to connect and share intimate experiences with friends, colleagues and fans,” Davis said in a statement. “Sleeper is building a community of people who care about their sports and esports teams, their players, their culture, while playing in fantastic leagues to brag about. My mom learned to play this year and she’s even more competitive than me!

The team were especially proud of Onwude’s involvement as they say they’ve worked hard to make Sleeper more inclusive.

“We have more women on our platform than any other fantastic sports platform,” Wang said. “Three out of 10, against 1 in 10.”

Plus, it was just “very clear” to Chen that the Sleeper team were “complete visionaries in space.”

From his first conversations with the co-founders, they were already talking about expanding the platform to include football, basketball, and esports.

“I loved the ambition and the energy they projected from the start around creating a single app for people to play a variety of sports,” he said.

And finally, it is clear to a16z that what Sleeper does is working.

“When an app goes from zero to 1 million active users and people use it almost every day without purchasing any installs or ads, and attracting other friends to the product, you know the people really like this thing, ”Chen said. News from Crunchbase.

Reporter Note: This story has been updated after publication to reflect new information provided by the company regarding the timing of Kevin Durant’s investment.

By Sports app

Last update on: March 6, 2020, 10:04 a.m.

Led by DraftKings and FanDuel, mobile sports betting app downloads in the United States jumped 84% year-on-year last month, according to a new research report from Morgan Stanley.

The bank specifically analyzed the period after the Super Bowl played on February 2 and leading up to the NCAA tournament, which begins March 17. Morgan Stanley notes that while the increase in downloads last month was less than the 118% jump seen in January, than was expected, as the first month of the year contains the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl preparation – events that generate more gambling and apps.

From late January 2020 (a peak in downloads due to the Super Bowl) to our last data point, 4-week downloads declined (29%), similar to the comparable period last year (25%) Morgan Stanley analysts said. directed by Thomas Allen.

The research team notes that they expect app downloads this week to drop by around 35% before increasing by around 66% over the next week as gamers prepare for March Madness. Selection Sunday is March 15 and the first matches take place two days later.

Big names dominate

Last month, DraftKings and FanDuel dominated the national mobile sports betting app download market by 35% and 31%, respectively. Morgan Stanley points out that February was the first month since June 2019, when DraftKings overtook FanDuel in the download department.

Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are the states in which DraftKings currently offers mobile betting, according to the company’s website, and it is also close to betting. based on applications in Colorado.

FanDuel also offers mobile betting in these states and is able to add Colorado to its list in the short term as well.

At 7.5%, 6% and 5%, respectively, Fox Bet, MGM / GVC and William Hill were the next highest-ranked sportsbook operators for app downloads in February, according to Morgan Stanley.

Beyond New Jersey

New Jersey has quickly become the benchmark for online and mobile sports betting, with over 80% of bets placed in the Garden State in any given month via computers or smartphones. But other states are also experiencing growth on this border.

Indiana and Pennsylvania are examples of two states beyond New Jersey where mobile betting is taking off.

“FOX Bet Pennsylvania has recorded 2% more app downloads over Fox Bet New Jersey since its launch on September 19, and 17% more year-to-date / 15% more over the past four past few weeks, ”Morgan Stanley said.

The bank calls this a “positive” for Keystone state, as sports betting income there currently resides at about 75% of that of neighboring New Jersey.

Morgan Stanley noted that by 2025, Indiana’s sports betting market could be worth nearly $ 300 million, while Massachusetts and Virginia could reach $ 338 million and $ 212 million, respectively, assuming those two. latest legalize sports betting and online / mobile approval..

Super Bowl LIV on Yahoo Sports app: chefs and 49ers differ

MIAMI – In the Kansas City Chiefs’ second practice in the AFC Championship game, Patrick Mahomes attempted nine assists.

In the NFC Championship game, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw eight passes the entire game.

When the Chiefs and 49ers reunite for Super Bowl LIV in South Florida, which can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app, it will be one of the most intriguing Super Bowl clashes in a while. Both teams have been very good in the regular season and have rolled through the playoffs. The 49ers are trying to break a 26-year drought without winning a Super Bowl. The Chiefs haven’t even attended a Super Bowl in 50 years.

[Watch Yahoo Sports Pregame Show, 4 p.m. ET Sunday]

They come to the Super Bowl with very different approaches.

The best of Super Bowl LIV

The best of Super Bowl LIV

The 49ers play retro style

It’s too simple to describe the Chiefs vs 49ers as a showdown between the high-goal, successful team that fits the modern NFL and a team that relies on an old-fashioned, heavy-handed approach. The Chiefs are handling the ball fairly well and their defense has improved, and the 49ers have thrown for 3,792 yards in the regular season. But there is some truth to the story.

The 49ers want to run the ball. They were second in the NFL for attempts and rushing yards, and first for rushing touchdowns. The Baltimore Ravens, who had 176 carries and 1,206 rushing yards from quarterback Lamar Jackson, are the only team that relied more on running. The 49ers have been so dominant in the playoffs that Garoppolo threw just 27 passes for 208 yards in two playoff games.

Kyle Shanahan has an offensive system similar to his father, Mike. The 49ers want to run the ball to prepare for the pass. And if you can’t stop the run, the 49ers will keep kicking the ball to the ground. They have terrific defense so this style makes sense to them. Against the Packers in the NFC title game, Raheem Mostert rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns, and the defense made sure the lead was never threatened. The 49ers barely kicked the ball because they didn’t have to.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

In some ways, the 49ers could mirror the 1972 and 1973 Dolphins. In four of the Dolphins’ five playoff games these seasons, quarterback Bob Griese threw 11 or fewer passes and failed to pass 88 yards. The Dolphins have won back-to-back Super Bowls, leaving the running game and defense to do the work.

The 49ers are a bit more open-minded than that, but it’s a decidedly old-school approach that should appeal to fans who like to remember the good old days.

Chiefs rely on their excellent quarterback

The Chiefs love to throw the ball, and that makes sense considering they have Patrick Mahomes as quarterback.

Kansas City was fifth in the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns, and it was with Mahomes who missed two games and almost a third with a knee injury. Kansas City was 27th in the NFL in rushing attempts despite going 12-4. Most teams throw the ball more when they have a lead.

It works for chefs. Kansas City’s defense has improved and played well after their week off, but it’s still a team that wants to score a lot and hope the defense makes some key plays and saves. The Chiefs aren’t on the same level defensively as the 49ers, but they don’t need to be. Kansas City has been in the NFL top six for points and yards for three consecutive seasons, and led in both categories last season. The defense just has to be good enough, and it has been lately.

The Chiefs are adapting to changes in modern play. They have a great passing attack and rely on it a lot. Kansas City has no problem trying to beat their opponents in a shootout. That seems to be the way the NFL game is going, although not all teams are fortunate enough to have a Mahomes as a quarterback.

The 49ers are proof that there is more than one way to win in the NFL. Good defense and a productive running game can always put a team at the door of a Super Bowl title. The same goes for a widely open passing game with a defense that has improved but is still in the middle of the pack. Super Bowl LIV should be a fascinating contrast in styles.

Launch of the world’s first social sports app

By Sports app

UPPSALA, Sweden, January 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Swedish start-up Speaser wants to change the way people follow each other and interact around sporting events. So they created the first app that combines a feed of the latest match news results from all major sports around the world, friendly betting and social media, making it easy to discuss sports.

“Billions of people love sports and we want to help bring them together,” says Fanny DrapedVice President of Speaser.

The app will be launched worldwide on January 23 and is available in 24 different languages, on iOS and Android and is free to download and use.

Not a betting app

Sport is meant to be about fun, and a challenge should be too. While traditional betting can have adverse effects, Speaser keeps the fun part of betting – the challenge – and lets you decide if the winner should get more than the honor and glory of winning. Maybe a cup of coffee?

Speaser has the excitement of a betting app but has stripped out its downsides.

“A lot of people can’t or won’t make bets involving money,” says Fanny Draped and continues, “and there are countries where traditional betting is illegal, this will be a fun alternative for them.”

How it works

Before an upcoming match, users predict the outcome and challenge opponents and decide what, if anything, is at stake. Results are submitted in so-called hit rates, so users can compare the results to the app’s high score list or wall of fame. Success rates are based on the results of all your challenges and can be improved over time.

While following the game, users can use the app to chat with friends, get the latest news and also get an overview of live scores, charts and statistics. All in one app.

Watch AFC and NFC Championship games on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

There will be some unexpected heroes in this weekend’s NFL conference championship games. The results will always be decided by the stars.

The big players get bigger as the scene gets bigger, and that scene is huge. The winners of the Tennessee Titans-Kansas City Chiefs AFC Championship Game and the Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship Game will advance to Super Bowl LIV in South Florida. Both conference championship games can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

An offensive star in every game and the defense’s ability to slow them down will go a long way in determining who plays for the Lombardi Trophy:

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (22) is on a historic run. (AP Photo/Gail Burton)

Slowing down Derrick Henry will be the Chiefs’ goal

Derrick Henry is on a historic run, and it’s easy to see when it started.

Henry had a good season before meeting the Chiefs on November 10. He only had 100 yards once, and exactly that against the Falcons. Then he went for 188 against the Chiefs, and his season went to a different level after that.

He averaged 159.1 rushing yards per game, including the playoffs, starting with that big game against the Chiefs. He averages 6.3 yards per carry. He is the first player in NFL history to rush for 180+ yards in three consecutive games. Henry, who can become a free agent in March, has made a lot of money in the last eight games.

The Chiefs’ defense also began to turn around after that 35-32 loss to the Titans. The Chiefs beat the Chargers 24-17 the following week, got a bye, and came back from the bye week with a different defense. After the Chiefs’ bye, they allowed 10.2 points per game in their last five regular season games. They’ve allowed just 94.9 rushing yards per game since the Titans’ opener.

Henry has become the talk of the NFL with his dominating play in the playoffs, and the Chiefs know they have to slow him down to win. The Ravens and Patriots knew it too. That’s easier said than done, especially considering he weighs 247 pounds.

“It tends to carry you about 5 meters more,” Chiefs linebacker Anthony Hitchens said. “Hit him low. Everything is legal in the game, but you have to hit it lower.

If Henry can have another big game, it would keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense off the field, which is what any team wants. Henry’s production will go a long way in determining the AFC Championship.

Packers passing game revolves around Davante Adams

The Packers’ passing offense isn’t too hard to figure out. It’s Davante Adams and that’s about it.

Adams had at least 10 targets in nine of his last 10 games. Adams missed four games and still had 127 targets. Marquez Valdes-Scantling was second among the Packers’ wide receivers with 56. Running back Aaron Jones had 68 and tight end Jimmy Graham had 60. Adams is the focal point of the Packers’ passing game, and it’s is because they don’t have many choices.

In the 2018 draft, the Packers drafted three receivers: J’Mon Moore, Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown. Moore and St. Brown disappeared completely and Valdes-Scantling did not develop as hoped. That left the Packers with a big hole on the other side of Adams. Aaron Rodgers just doesn’t have much to work with other than Adams.

Adams is a good start though. He was fantastic in the Divisional Round against the Seahawks, with a franchise-record playoff 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He’ll get as many targets as he can handle against the 49ers.

In the first meeting between the teams, Adams was held to 43 yards on seven catches. According to Pro Football Focus, the 49ers didn’t use any particular defensive backs on Adams. Seven different defenders covered Adams’ strikes, according to PFF. Expect a similar team effort against Adams on Sunday.

The Packers will have to find something on offense. The first time the two teams met, the Packers had 198 yards in a 37-8 loss. Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career, with just 102 yards on 20 of 33 passes. That’s the fewest yards in NFL history for a quarterback with 20 completions in a game. Packers coach Matt LaFleur will need to make some significant adjustments to perform better against a 49ers defense coming off of a fantastic game against the Vikings.

Whatever the Packers game plan is sure to involve Adams heavily and the 49ers know it. Slowing down Adams again will be key for San Francisco to qualify for the Super Bowl.

Andy Reid leads Chiefs vs. Texans on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid tops an ignominious list even though he can pull it off.

Reid has the most career wins of any coach in non-championship NFL history. In fact, every coach who has won more games than Reid has multiple championships. For years, Marty Schottenheimer was the prime example of a coach who won a lot in the regular season but failed to win a title. Reid has passed Schottenheimer on the all-time winning list this season.

Reid’s quest for a Super Bowl begins again Sunday when his Chiefs host the Houston Texans, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

This is Reid’s 15th appearance in the playoffs. We know how the first 14 ended.

Andy Reid among the NFL greats

Reid is undoubtedly an excellent coach. He has a better career winning percentage than Tom Landry, Chuck Noll and Bill Parcells among others. He recorded three lost seasons in 21 years coaching the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs. He’s won double-digit games in five straight seasons and six of seven seasons with the Chiefs.

Only seven coaches in the history of professional football have won more than 200 matches, and that’s the who’s who of legendary coaches:

Don Shula, 328 wins, 2 championships
George Halas, 318 wins, 6 championships
Bill Belichick, 273 wins, 6 championships
Tom Landry, 250 wins, 2 championships
Curly Lambeau, 226 wins, 6 championships
Paul Brown, 213 wins, 7 championships
Andy Reid, 207 wins, 0 championship

Yes, one number on this list really stands out. Reid’s footballing legacy won’t be complete without a title. Only three Super Bowl era coaches made the Super Bowl ringless professional football hall of fame: Marv Levy, Bud Grant and George Allen. Levy and Grant have each won four conference championships. Reid only has one.

Maybe Reid will be in the Hall of Fame without a championship. But a Super Bowl title would practically win it.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is still chasing his first Super Bowl win. (AP Photo / David Zalubowski)

Reid’s Chiefs have a good chance of winning a title

There are the cheap jokes about Reid’s clock handling and playoff failures, and that won’t go away until he wins a title.

This Chiefs team has a chance. They took a big break when the New England Patriots were upset in Week 17, opening the door for them to a first-round pass. The Chiefs have a fantastic offense led by Patrick Mahomes and a defense that has played much better in the second half of the season. While Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson presents unique challenges for the Chiefs, Kansas City is set to win and advance to the AFC Championship game for the second straight season. It won’t be easy to win a Super Bowl, but the Chiefs are one of the best favorites to do so.

And if the Chiefs get angry on Sunday, or lose before the Super Bowl, or even lose in the Super Bowl, the jokes and criticism will start again. There is only one way to end this. No one has more to win these playoffs than Reid.

Snow for the Packers-Seahawks on the Yahoo Sports app?

By Sports app

No one is faster to check the weather forecast than a football player sent to Green Bay for a playoff game in January.

We saw blizzards and inhuman cold weather for the Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field. Ice Bowl players in 1967 complained about the effects of frostbite decades later. We all remember the face of New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin turning scary red in an NFC Championship game. The evidence goes part of the reason why the NFL loves winter games at Green Bay. If the Ice Bowl had had a temperature of 40 degrees, maybe it wouldn’t have been remembered as one of the best games in the NFL.

The Seattle Seahawks have the unenviable task of traveling to Green Bay to play the Packers on Sunday, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app. Forecasting is as much a topic of conversation as Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

The good news for players and fans alike is that the weather shouldn’t be that bad, at least by Northeastern Wisconsin standards.

It could snow in Green Bay on Sunday

The forecast in Green Bay for Sunday is not tropical, but at least manageable. The high should be 23 degrees with a low of 18. Since the kick-off time will be 5:40 p.m., Central – the NFL understands the success of bad weather games on TV and is not shy about them. schedule with a better chance of snow or cold – expect it to be below 20 degrees by the time kick off. There is a 75% chance of precipitation, so we might also have snow.

The Seahawks aren’t used to the weather, but have seen worse lately. They played an outdoor playoff game in Minnesota, between the domed Viking stadiums, minus-6 degrees four seasons ago. The wind chill was minus-25. This game is remarkable for Bud Grant coming out for the short sleeve toss and Blair Walsh to score a basket at the end to give Seattle a victory. It was the third coldest game of all time.

The Packers of course have a lot of history in the cold games. If the temperature is 20 degrees, it would need to drop about another 20 degrees to make it into the top 10 coldest games in Packers history. Some memorable bad-weather playoff games at Lambeau Field included the Ice Bowl, a scenic snow game against the Seahawks at the end of the 2007 season, and a game against the San Francisco 49ers in which Colin Kaepernick played in short sleeves despite being 5 degrees outside.

It’s hard to operate in extremely cold weather and that often makes the football itself less than perfect, but we love a good game in bad weather.

Seattle and Green Bay starred in a classic snow game in January 2008. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel / Getty Images)

Bad weather games are NFL history

There is just something about watching a great NFL Playoff game on a snow covered field. We remembered the game “Tuck Rule” regardless of the weather, but the backdrop of it set in a blizzard made it iconic.

If it snows Sunday night in Green Bay, it would create an interesting football dynamic. Both teams enjoy establishing the race, despite having Hall of Fame quarterbacks. It won’t be extremely cold, but conditions could dictate a more difficult game for both sides.

The weather forecast looks pretty clear for games in San Francisco, Baltimore and Kansas City this weekend. If we’re going to have a playoff snowstorm, it’s probably going to come from Green Bay. Hopefully, anyone who doesn’t have to be outside Lambeau Field for the game.

‘Beast Mode’ is back for the 49ers-Seahawks on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Marshawn Lynch has not recovered from not recovering the ball at the 1 yard line against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX. How can he do it when he hears about it all the time?

Everyone remembers it, but a little recap: the Seahawks had the ball on the 1-yard line, and they passed instead of giving the ball to Lynch. Cornerback Malcolm Butler knocked out Russell Wilson and the Patriots won. It’s still one of the most debated play calls in NFL history.

“I’ve been to many places around the world, I have people coming to speak to me in languages that, I don’t know what they’re saying,” Lynch said in an interview on his YouTube Beast Mode Productions. . Channel with Diaunte Thompson. “Ultimately, when it’s translated, it’s ‘You should get two Super Bowl rings’.”

Lynch was thought to be retired, but he came back and signed with the Seahawks to play in Sunday night’s game that will determine the NFC West championship, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

Lynch’s comeback isn’t as simple as wanting to catch up on the Super Bowl, everyone in Seattle thinks it should have gone differently. But that’s part of it.

Marshawn Lynch has ‘unfinished business’

Lynch didn’t have much to say to the media this week, in typical Lynch style. But he had a lot to say on his YouTube channel (and many weren’t sure about the job).

Summarizing his return to a single reason is wrong. Like anything else, there were different motivations.

“Walking away from the game and retiring, like anything, you walk away for a minute and realize it’s your passion or whatever it is,” Lynch said. “I’ve always known all my life that I really love playing football. It really comes down to that too.

But yeah, not having the ball on the 1 yard line was something he mentioned a few times in this interview.

“It wasn’t just one thing that hurt Seattle Seahawks fans,” Lynch said. “It hurt the period of football fans.”

That’s a beautiful story. Lynch is a Hall of Fame borderline talent, one of the defining players of this decade and a legend in Seahawks history. And he gets one more moment with the team he will always be associated with.

“My last question is, you can go to any team as a free agent, why Seattle?” Thompson asked.

“Did you say why? Lynch laughed. “We have history there. We have unfinished business.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, left, watches quarterback Russell Wilson during practice warmups this week. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)

Huge game for the 49ers and Seahawks

Lynch is a great subplot for one of “Sunday Night Football’s” most important games in many, many years.

The 49ers get the No. 1 seed with a win. They will be the fifth seed with a loss. The Seahawks will also be the fifth seed with a loss, but would be anywhere from first to third seed with a win. To get the top seed, they would need losses by the Saints and Packers. To get the second seed, they would need a Packers loss.

It’s an absolutely huge game for both teams, which will change who should make the Super Bowl out of the NFC. And if the Seahawks have the ball at the 1-yard line at the end, we can probably guess who will get the ball.

DDSports ShotTracker technology can extend from basketball to soccer and other sports

Through

Andrew Cohen

DDSports, the parent company of the ShotTracker sensor basketball system, is exploring plans to expand its tracking technology to other sports, including soccer. ShotTracker currently captures shot analytics for 60 college basketball programs, including all of the men’s and women’s teams from the Big 12 and Mountain West conferences.

“We do quite a bit of testing in football and looking at other sports,” DDSports co-founder and president Davyeon Ross said at the Sports Business Journal’s Dealmakers In Sports conference in New York on Wednesday. “We are currently doing more extensive testing with football and have initial discussions with some of the sports to enter the market.”

ShotTracker the current basketball system involves sensors built into game balls, players’ shirts and also inside arenasto track over 70 shooting stats that can be viewed on iPad by coaches and players during matches. Another point of future growth for DDSports will be the sharing of its real-time data with sports betting companies.

“We know we can strengthen a whole level of play that has never been seen before,” said Ross. “Were [currently] make integrations to prepare for these opportunities.

Ross has admitted that his company’s gaming ambitions will, at least initially, be more focused on the professional level than the college space. A professional team already partner of ShotTracker is the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. ShotTracker has made deals with networks like ESPN and CBS to display their stats on college basketball shows, and Ross sees more lucrative opportunities to capitalize on data at the college level rather than in professional leagues.

“It’s harder to work in college because they’re so fragmented,” he said. “But once you are able to capitalize on that market, the cap is removed. Because you are not just a technology partner, you are a technology and data marketing partner. You can get license fees all day, but the marketing part [is] where you come together to say, ‘How can we use this data? When you work with the leagues, they’re like, ‘Okay you’re a salesperson, give me the data, I’ll make all the money’. So there is a very different dynamic.

Three hard-hitting NFL games on Saturday on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 is the reason NFL football appears every Saturday in December. Or, more accurately, this is why we don’t have NFL games on Saturdays all year.

The rule states that the NFL cannot broadcast Friday night or Saturday games during the high school and college seasons until the second Saturday in December. So after the Army and Navy face off, we’re back with some bonus NFL football on Saturday.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

The three Saturday games of Week 16 this season, which can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app, all have playoff implications, including an interesting AFC East game midway through the triple title.

Houston Texans (9-5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7), 1 p.m. ET

The Houston Texans picked up a massive victory last week over the Tennessee Titans. This paved the way for them to land the AFC South in Week 16, and possibly remain starters in a Week 17 rematch against the Titans.

The Texans win the division with a win over the Buccaneers or a Titans loss to the Saints on Sunday. A Buccaneers victory would keep alive the possibility of the Texans-Titans in Week 17 being an AFC South championship game, and Tampa Bay is not an easy exit.

The Jameis Winston roller coaster is exasperating and thrilling, frustrating and fun. He still has a chance to lead the NFL in passing yards, touchdowns and interceptions this season. As with any Buccaneers game, expect plenty of points and plays that will mystify everyone, good and bad.

Buffalo Bills (10-4) vs. New England Patriots (11-3), 4:30 p.m. ET

It’s been a while since the Patriots played an AFC East game this late in the season with any real intrigue in the division.

The Bills still have a long way to go to the division title. They need to win in Foxboro on Saturday, win in Week 17 and secure the Miami Dolphins 3-11 to win the season finale in New England. The Patriots will win any tiebreaker against the Bills, either by a season sweep with a win on Saturday or by a record against mutual opponents if the Bills win this week. The Bills must finish ahead of New England in the standings.

Still, the Patriots haven’t clinched with two games to go and that’s rare. They must also keep winning to retain the Kansas City Chiefs for the second AFC playoff bye. Even if the Bills don’t end up winning the division, Saturday could be a statement that they’re ready to make a real run for the Patriots and the AFC East title in 2020.

Los Angeles Rams (8-6) vs. San Francisco 49ers (11-3), 8:15 p.m. ET

Nothing can be done in Game 3 on Saturday, but one team will try to keep their season alive and the other will try to preserve their path to an NFC seed and a bye.

The Rams are alive for a wildcard spot, but barely after a loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. Football Outsiders gives the Rams a 1.8% chance of making the playoffs. The defending NFC champions could be officially eliminated on Saturday.

The 49ers are tied with the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC West, but the NFL has said neither team can clinch the division this week. The Seahawks and 49ers are playing in Week 17 and that game will most likely be for the NFC West (and prime time) no matter what happens this week. The 49ers’ path to winning the tiebreaker is a complicated one, but it looks like San Francisco will follow suit if they end up tying Seattle at 12-4 at the end of the season. The short version is that Saturday’s game isn’t critical for the 49ers in the NFC West race, although it is important in the standings race. The 11-3 Packers and Saints will back the Rams as it would improve their chances of getting a top-two seed in the NFC and a bye.

The bulk of the NFL schedule for Week 16 will still be Sunday, but Saturday should give us some key answers when it comes to the playoff picture.

Eli Manning returns, Giants vs. Eagles on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

In November 1971, after missing more than a full calendar year with knee and wrist injuries, Joe Namath was called off the bench in a game for the New York Jets.

It turned out to be one of the most memorable moments in Namath’s career. He got hot against the San Francisco 49ers, throwing three touchdowns to get the Jets back in the game. He threw a late interception and the Jets lost, but the memory of the New York crowd going mad as they experienced the return of a legend lives on. It was a moment.

Eli Manning’s return on Monday night as the New York Giants starter is far from a perfect game against Namath’s return in 1971, and we don’t know how Manning will play in place of injured Daniel Jones against the Philadelphia Eagles in a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

But wouldn’t it be pretty cool for Manning to have another great time with the Giants?

Eli Manning hasn’t played since week 2

The way this season has gone for Manning at this point was all but inevitable. The Giants drafted Daniel Jones with the sixth pick overall. New York are a bad team and it was only a matter of time before Manning was replaced as the starter. Jones’ excellent preseason has sped up the schedule. Manning was substituted after two starts and hasn’t played since.

Jones has a sprained ankle and is likely to miss several games. The only race the Giants are in is for the draft position, and there’s no need to rush Jones back. Manning could end up getting a few starts in stride. It’s a funny story. Manning did a great job representing the Giants and the NFL as a whole, and deserves a great final act.

Manning might not be capable of another great game. He struggled on both starts and has been in decline for a few years. This is completely normal, as he nears his 39th birthday. The Giants are still not very good, but they have a flexible schedule on the home stretch. It’s not like the Eagles look like they want to save their season.

It looked like Manning might just disappear after being put on the bench, but now he’s getting what is almost certainly the last callback with his only NFL team.

Eli Manning will start Monday night for the Giants. (AP Photo / Paul Sancya)

Manning could start more than one game

Very little has been said about Manning’s future. He will be a free agent after the season and there is no final word on whether he wants to play elsewhere or retire.

Whatever happens, Manning’s New York legacy will live on forever thanks to two Super Bowl wins. This is why he is one of the most popular figures in the history of the team. That’s why the bench of an awkward game two seasons ago turned into a major controversy that sealed Ben McAdoo’s sacking. Since then, the Giants have handled everything with the utmost sensitivity, doing everything possible to make sure Manning doesn’t disrespect even as the team move on to the next phase.

In the end, Manning gets at least one more start for the Giants, and maybe more. More than a few legendary moments have occurred on “Monday Night Football”.

Maybe we have another one, this time with Manning before he leaves New York.

Jason Garrett and the Cowboys take on the bears on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had something positive to say about coach Jason Garrett this week.

“Jason Garrett will coach in the NFL next year,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan this week.

And everyone was wondering which team Garrett would coach for. Yes, it is embarrassing.

The rest of this season will be strange for the Cowboys. Everyone seems to know Garrett is likely to be fired – people have already speculated but it looks like it’s not a drill – but the Cowboys are still likely to win an NFC East title. Their bizarre season continues as the Cowboys play the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

The Bears are a big disappointment after winning an NFC North Championship. Chicago spends its days tearing up coach and quarterback, the Bears have next to no chance for the playoffs… and they still aren’t the biggest train wreck of Thursday’s game.

Cowboys Still Run NFC East One Way Or Another

If the Cowboys were in a better division, it seems likely Garrett would have left already. But because the Cowboys play in what’s in the talk as the worst division since the NFL moved to a 16-game schedule over 40 years ago, they can’t give up the season.

Jones has a way of saying things that seem to contradict the last thing he said. He praised Garrett this week saying he was a good coach and “one of the smartest coaches.”

“Glad to have him,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan. “He’s the guy for the job.”

Maybe the guy for the job the rest of the season if the Cowboys can turn things around before January. Garrett will likely be sidelined for a home playoff game. The Cowboys have a 76.6% chance of winning the NFC East, according to Football Outsiders.

And wouldn’t it be something if Garrett and the Cowboys made a playoff run?

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett calls from the sideline during the first half of an NFL football game against the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans on Sunday, September 29 2019. (AP Photo / Butch Dill)

Cowboys, both bears 6-6

The Cowboys and Bears are each disappointing, but in their own way.

The Cowboys are 2-6 against non-NFC East teams, and those two wins were against Miami and Detroit, two teams with three wins. They just weren’t good enough to beat the top teams, which is surprising given their talent and quarterback Dak Prescott having had a great year. The Cowboys are in the top 10 for yards gained, yards allowed, runs scored and runs allowed and are still 6-6. They have lost a lot of close matches. That’s why Garrett’s seat is beyond hot.

In Chicago, the problems are more glaring. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky didn’t play well, which led to coach Matt Nagy being more conservative with his play calls, which made things worse for Trubisky, and the defense all the time took of hindsight. Kicking is always a problem too. Everything that went well for the Bears in a great 2018 season has gone wrong this season.

The Bears still have a small shot at making the playoffs, but a lot would have to go well. The Cowboys are practically backing down in one place because the Eagles keep giving it to them. You’d think a 6-6 team would be in a bind in Week 14, but the number of games the Cowboys lost doesn’t seem to matter. No matter what they do, they still retain the top spot in the NFC East. And apparently, regardless of how the Cowboys end the regular season, Garrett will remain head coach and coach in the playoffs.

I told you, this Cowboys season is weird.

Watch all three NFL Thanksgiving games on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Thanksgiving and NFL football games go hand in hand. The tradition dates back to the league’s first season in 1920. NFL Thanksgiving games predate the Super Bowl by 46 years.

There have been changes. No one was watching on their phones when the Dayton Triangles beat the Detroit Heralds 28-0 on Nov. 25, 1920. Thanks to the glory of technology, you can watch all three Thanksgiving games this season as they’re broadcast live on the Yahoo Sports app. It’s better than arguing with your loved ones about politics.

Here’s a look at the three Thanksgiving games of this 100th NFL season:

Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions, 12:30 p.m. ET

Just imagine the reaction if Mitchell Trubisky got topped by David Blough on Thanksgiving.

Who is Blow? He’s the one who took the practice snaps as Detroit’s quarterback this week. Matthew Stafford is out. Substitute Jeff Driskel is suffering from a hamstring injury. If Driskel can’t play, Blough would take his first NFL shots. Blough played at Purdue, went undrafted and then posted a 72.9 passer rating in the preseason for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns traded Blough to the Lions in a 2022 seventh-round pick trade.

Regardless of whether Driskel or Blough plays for the Lions, the quarterback under the most pressure going into Thursday’s game will be Trubisky. Trubisky was solid last season, then hit a major slump this year. With the Bears struggling, a season after winning the NFC North, Trubisky received the majority of the scorn from Bears fans. A bad Thanksgiving outing, perhaps against an unknown rookie making his NFL debut, would make things much worse for Trubisky.

Buffalo Bills at Dallas Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. ET

The biggest story in Best Thanksgiving Game is clearly Cowboys coach Jason Garrett and his job security. Prepare for a lot of discussions with Garrett during the broadcast.

There’s another team involved in the game, and they’re most likely heading to the playoffs. The Bills have had a great run this season and lead the AFC wildcard field at 8-3. Buffalo’s defense leads this team, although sophomore quarterback Josh Allen is capable of some exciting moments. At least one of Thursday’s Game 2 teams is a good bet to be in the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, 8:20 p.m. ET

Midway through the season, the Saints were 7-1. They went 5-0 as Drew Brees recovered from a thumb injury. They looked like the best football team.

Then the Falcons came to New Orleans.

Atlanta, in the midst of a horrible season and with coach Dan Quinn facing constant questions about his job security, pulled off perhaps the biggest upset of the NFL season. They outscored the Saints in a 26-9 victory. The result was unexpected and the way the Falcons got around the Saints was stunning.

The Saints really haven’t looked good in the last three games, starting with the loss to the Falcons. They beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-17, but with a big assist from Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston and his turnovers. Last week, the Saints barely secured a 34-31 win over the Carolina Panthers, earning a game-winning field goal when time expired. They took a huge break when Panthers kicker Joey Slye missed a short field goal in the final two minutes.

What do we do with the saints now? They are still 9-2 and have a good chance of securing the NFC’s No. 1 seed. A rebound against the Falcons at Thanksgiving would ease some concerns about their recent slump.

Rams need win over Ravens on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Before the season, you might have guessed that this “Monday Night Football” game between the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams would be the one between a Super Bowl favorite and a team fighting for its life in the playoffs.

It turned out a little different than everyone thought.

The Ravens have been one of the NFL’s surprises and are perhaps the hottest team in the league. They’re 8-2, with an MVP candidate in quarterback Lamar Jackson and a defense that’s peaking. Meanwhile, defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams haven’t been able to replicate what they did last season. They are 6-4, mostly out of the NFC West race and out looking for a wild card. They need a win over the Ravens on Monday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

The Rams aren’t a bad team, but no one has mistaken them for a Super Bowl contender this season.

What went wrong for the Rams?

The Rams looked good at the start of the year. They were 3-0 with a few wins on the road.

Then Tampa Bay revealed some things. The Buccaneers went to Los Angeles and won 55-40 on September 29. It started a three-game losing streak for the Rams, who barely lost to the Seattle Seahawks on a last-second missed field goal and then were demolished by the 49ers at the Los Angeles Coliseum. That 49ers loss was an indication that something was wrong with the Rams.

Maybe if Greg Zuerlein got that last-second basket in Seattle, the team’s prospects would be better. But that’s life in the NFL.

The biggest problem is a significant drop in offense. The Rams defense has actually been much better statistically this season, and that counts the debacle against the Buccaneers. But the attack is far from what it was last season. The Rams are 11th in the NFL in points scored and 13th in yards gained, which isn’t bad. It’s just not what we expect from the Rams.

There are several reasons for the Rams’ offensive decline and they’re likely all related. Jared Goff is in trouble. He’s not the same quarterback he was for most of last season. This season was a follow-up to his poor Super Bowl against the Patriots, with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Todd Gurley doesn’t have the same back, likely due to his knee issues. He’s been on pace for less than 1,000 rushing yards, while the offensive line has gone from strength to weakness.

Regardless of the primary culprit, the Rams are just an average first-time offense under head coach Sean McVay.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff, center, is tackled by Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Al Woods, right, and center linebacker Bobby Wagner. (AP Photo/Stephen Brashear)

Rams’ playoff chances don’t look good

The Rams face a tough challenge against the Ravens, and it’s not like they can afford to lose any more ground.

Los Angeles is three games behind the NFC West 49ers, has yet to play a road game in San Francisco and has already lost to its division rival once. If the 49ers slip, the Rams are still two games behind the Seahawks in the division. The 8-2 Seahawks and 7-3 Vikings currently have the NFC wildcard spots, and the loser of the Cowboys/Eagles NFC East battle will also factor into that run.

The Rams also face four winning teams in their last six games: vs. Ravens, Cardinals, vs. Seahawks, Cowboys, 49ers, vs. Cardinals. It’s a brutal schedule for a 6-4 side, especially since 10-6 might not even get a wildcard spot.

If this Rams team was as good as it was last season, maybe a hot streak to end the season would seem realistic. But a lot of things look different, and it looks like the Rams need a semi-miracle to qualify for the playoffs. That would likely require a win over the Ravens on Monday night.

Packers and 49ers meet for huge NFC game on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

The NFL Coach of the Year race might be the best of all the post-season awards.

Never mind that the price is a bit silly. He rarely goes to the best coach, which is counterintuitive. If so, Bill Belichick could win every year. Usually it’s the coach whose team finishes farthest ahead of their pre-season expectations.

Sunday evening, a few coaches fit this category. San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is having a stellar season. Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur has settled in well in his first season as head coach. The 49ers and Packers face off in a pivotal NFC game on Sunday night, which can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

Maybe the winning coach will win a trophy at the end of the year. Maybe for the coach of the year, and maybe also for the Lombardi Trophy.

Who will win NFL Coach of the Year?

About a quarter of coaches in the league have a decent argument as Coach of the Year.

Sean Payton led the New Orleans Saints to a 5-0 record without quarterback Drew Brees. Jon Gruden has the Oakland Raiders in playoff contention. John Harbaugh has the Baltimore Ravens playing an offense the NFL has never seen before and they’re arguing as the best team in the league.

Mike Tomlin deserves credit for keeping the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoff hunt. Frank Reich would have a case if the Indianapolis Colts made the playoffs after Andrew Luck retired. And, of course, Belichick still has a case.

Both coaches from Sunday night’s game are among the favorites, and they’ve been impressive in different ways this season.

Packers and 49ers battle for playoff positioning

Shanahan must have produced a few wins. His first two 49ers seasons ended with a 10-22 record. There were good excuses for that, but a losing third straight season wouldn’t have been great.

The 49ers have reinvented themselves. They’re a top-notch team, with a stellar defense and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo playing a game director role most weeks. The 49ers started the season 8-0 and enter this week 9-1, the NFC’s best record. And yet, the 49ers are under pressure from the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West race.

The Packers still have hopes of capturing the NFC’s No. 1 seed and likely need a win on Sunday night to keep that alive. Like the 49ers with the Seahawks, the Packers have yet to shake up the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.

During the offseason, an 8-2 start was not what Packers fans were talking about. There was endless discussion about LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers. There was speculation about how they would get along and how Rodgers would fit into LaFleur’s plan. Although the attack has had its ups and downs, it’s going very well. LaFleur could follow the Sean McVay/Matt Nagy path as a young offensive head coach who wins Coach of the Year in his rookie season.

To win Coach of the Year, LaFleur may have to beat Shanahan on Sunday night. But he’s probably not worried about that price, and neither is Shanahan. Both teams need a win in a wild NFC playoff race.

Barkley Giants vs. Elliott Cowboys on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Conventional NFL wisdom says you shouldn’t make costly investments in running backs, and we can wonder if the Dallas Cowboys or New York Giants made the right call with their star guards. .

But there’s no denying that Ezekiel Elliott and Saquon Barkley are two of the best in the game.

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants face off Monday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app. It’s a rare game between two teams that are built around a running back. That’s not the norm in a league that values passing and has devalued running backs.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

Barkley and Elliott are undeniably great, but which one is better?

Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott among the best

Barkley and Elliott were the few running back prospects each selected in the top five of the draft. Elliott was the fourth pick in the 2016 draft, ahead of future All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Barkley was the second overall pick in the 2018 draft, edging out quarterback Sam Darnold.

Both players have been quite productive:

Barkley (21 games): 80 rushing yards per game, 5.0 yards average, 42 receiving yards per game, 7.8 yards per reception, 0.86 touchdowns per game

Elliott (47 games): 98.9 rushing yards per game, 4.6 yards average, 29.3 receiving yards per game, 8.6 yards per reception, 0.85 touchdowns per game

Elliott has more total yards per game, but played with a much better offensive line. Barkley is a terrific receiver, but Elliott can also catch the ball. Elliott hit a career high with 77 catches last season.

Elliott has two rushing titles and could have had a third had he not been suspended at the start of the 2017 season (Elliott led the NFL in rushing yards per game that season). Barkley led the NFL with 2,028 yards from scrimmage in his first NFL season last year.

It would be difficult to choose one over the other. And they will both face each other in NFC East games for a while. Barkley is 22 and Elliott just turned 24.

Ezekiel Elliott and Saquon Barkley swap shirts after a game last season. (Getty Images)

Cowboys, giants built around their backs

The Cowboys signed Elliott to a six-year, $90 million deal after resistance during the preseason. It shows how much the Cowboys appreciate him. Presumably, Barkley will top that. He was a top running back prospect for many, many years and lived up to that billing.

In a better situation, perhaps Barkley could win rushing titles like Elliott. Barkley has an unrivaled skill set, but it’s hard to argue with Elliott’s consistency and production. He is the rare running back who rarely leaves the field and never seems to get injured or burnt out.

There will be a lot of interest in Monday night’s game from fantasy football players. Barkley and Elliott were first-round picks in most drafts. They had the fourth and fifth best-selling NFL jerseys last season. In a league with teams trying to fill running backs with trading options, these two superstars stand out.

It’s hard to choose just one.

Dolphins go for first win over Steelers on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Name the 1 to 15 teams in NFL history.

Well, there were the Dallas Cowboys in Troy Aikman’s rookie season. The Cleveland Browns did it a few years ago, but we only remember it because they followed that up with an 0-16 season. So… well, who knows.

All you have to do is win a game and you’re off the hook. The 1-15 teams throughout history are forgettable. Teams 0-16 will live forever. The 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns did the trick, and we’ll include the 0-14 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’re immortal, and not in a good way.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

The 2019 Miami Dolphins have a shot at that infamy. They are 0-6 and have looked historically awful at times. They’ll be looking for that all-important win again against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

(By the way, if you’re a real trivia buff, those 1-15 teams are: 1980 Saints, 1989 Cowboys, 1990 Patriots, 1991 Colts, 1996 Jets, 2000 Chargers, 2001 Panthers, 2007 Dolphins, 2009 Rams, 2016 Browns. )

Dolphins off to historic bad start

The Dolphins have looked a bit better in the last two games.

The bar was not high. The first four games were as miserable as you’ll find in NFL history. Their minus 137 point differential was the worst of any Super Bowl-era team. They didn’t hold onto their first lead of the season until Week 4. They looked absolutely awful in every facet of the game.

The Dolphins’ team rating at Pro Football Focus is 51.6, and No. 31 Cincinnati is far ahead with 61.1. The 2017 Browns 0-16 had a PFF rating of 69.9. The 2008 Lions have the worst mark dating back to 2006, at 52.1. Only three teams during this period have finished under the 60 mark.

The Dolphins’ DVOA, the Football Outsiders’ per-game metric, is minus 72.9 percent. The second-worst in the NFL is Cincinnati’s minus-38.3 percent. Miami has the second-worst DVOA in six games dating back to 1986, and Miami is the worst since 1986 in defensive DVOA.

Not only are the Dolphins bad, they’re far worse than virtually every other team in history in every way.

That’s why a 1-point loss to the Washington Redskins 1-6 and a relatively competitive 10-point loss to the Buffalo Bills over the past two weeks seemed like real progress.

The Dolphins don’t give much to their fans. (Getty Images)

The dolphins showed a small improvement

The Dolphins scored late against the Redskins and went for a two-point conversion and the win. They called a strange running back display Kenyan Drake dropped. Drake would have been tackled anyway.

There are still plenty of games to go, but it’s reasonable to believe that this game against the Redskins will be the Dolphins’ best shot at a win all season. The Dolphins were trying to tank — or whatever more subtle term you want to use — and it worked too well. They are troublesome. One of the conversations at the start of this season was how the NFL can stop other teams from tanking. The Dolphins are so bad they could lead to rule changes.

All of that will be forgotten pretty quickly with just one victory. Just one. Nobody remembers anything about the 1990 Patriots or the 2000 Chargers or any of the other teams on this list. The Dolphins will have a Steelers team that is 2-4 and quarterback Mason Rudolph is coming back from one of the scariest concussions we’ve ever seen. The Dolphins have been looking a little better lately. A quarterback change to Ryan Fitzpatrick helped the offense.

This may be the week the Dolphins get their win. It’s not even Halloween, but it’s not too early to start wondering if and when it will happen.

49ers try to win against Browns again on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

This year, the Cleveland Browns were the NFL’s offseason darlings. Everyone fell in love with their story after a strong end to last season. Greatness was predicted for their young quarterback, Baker Mayfield.

The San Francisco 49ers know this.

Last year, the 49ers were the team everyone wanted to talk about. With young quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, acquired in a mid-season trade from the New England Patriots, San Francisco won five in a row to end the season. The NFL scheduled them for as many prime-time games as possible in 2018. The offseason hype machine turned Garoppolo into a mix of Joe Namath, John Elway and Superman. Then Garoppolo tore his ACL early in the season and the 49ers went 4-12.

After everyone focused on the Browns and forgot about the 49ers, San Francisco looks like the team we expected last season. The 49ers are 3-0 and face the Browns 2-2 on Monday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

There’s still some skepticism about the 49ers, but that may start to change if they look good on the Monday night stage.

The 49ers are the last undefeated team in the NFC

It’s not like the 49ers have played their toughest slate yet. They beat the interception-prone Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. In Week 2, they beat the Cincinnati Bengals 0-4. In Week 3, they drew Mason Rudolph making his first career start for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and needed a late touchdown to escape with a home win. The Steelers are 1-3 and their only win is against the Bengals.

So this 3-0 start comes with qualifying. It was another much-needed quick start for the 49ers and coach Kyle Shanahan, who was 10-22 in his first two seasons.

Garoppolo looks good, but not exactly great as he is coming back from ACL surgery. The 49ers handled the ball very well, ranking second in the NFL in rushing yards. The defense stepped forward and allowed the third-fewest yards per game in the NFL.

It’s only three games, but the 49ers find themselves in first place in the NFC West. This is the last undefeated team in the NFC. Questions or not, that’s a good start.

Jimmy Garoppolo helped lead the 49ers to a 3-0 start. (Getty Pictures)

The Browns bounced back in Week 4

Like the 49ers last season, the Browns entered the season with high expectations and stumbled. They were eliminated at home by the Tennessee Titans to start the season. After a victory against a terrible New York Jets team, the Browns fell on a Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams. Ahead of their third prime-time appearance in five weeks, the Browns got back on track with a 40-25 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

This week feels like a turning point in Cleveland’s season. Mayfield struggled for three weeks but bounced back in Week 4. Can he keep this momentum going? Are the Browns’ play-calling issues resolved? Can Cleveland continue to play as the AFC North favorite?

It’s an interesting test against the 3-0 49ers. San Francisco can legitimize their debut against a talented Browns team. The Browns’ slow start this season would be a distant memory if they went 3-2 after a road win against the NFC’s last undefeated team.

Whoever wins is likely to be in a familiar place, attracting lots of attention and hype.

Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes plays Colts on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

From 1920 to 2017, only one quarterback in NFL history had a season of 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. Peyton Manning did it in 2013.

Patrick Mahomes tied it last season and he has a chance to do it again this year, in his second year as a Kansas City Chiefs starter. It’s incredible.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

If Mahomes keeps up that pace, we have to start wondering if we’re looking at the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Mahomes fell off the pace for 50 touchdowns last week when he didn’t throw one in a win over the Detroit Lions. But he’s on pace for 6,040 yards. And he still leads the NFL with 10 touchdown passes, with no interceptions. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Mahomes picked up the pace for another 50 touchdown season. Other than perhaps Dan Marino, whose iconic 1984 performance came in his second season in the NFL, no quarterback in NFL history has had a better start to his career.

The 4-0 Chiefs have become the NFL’s go-to team due to their reigning MVP quarterback. They will face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app. Kansas City’s precocious young quarterback will be the main attraction.

Patrick Mahomes could repeat as NFL MVP

It’s hard to put a current young player into historical perspective. We see it a bit with Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels in baseball. Since we don’t yet know how the last 10-12 years of Trout’s career will pan out, it’s easier to lean on Willie Mays or Babe Ruth when discussing the greatest player of all time. That’s despite Trout having two MVPs, two second MVPs and a fourth place finish in seven full seasons. And he will finish first or second this season. No one has ever had so much effort to start a career.

Considering Mahomes has few reasonable comparisons in NFL history, Trout might be the best for him. What we see of Mahomes is virtually inconceivable. Playing quarterback in the NFL is supposed to be tough, and Mahomes had no problem. Through 20 starts over the past two seasons, he has 6,607 yards and 60 touchdowns. The Chiefs are 16-4 in his starts. A regression was expected this season for Mahomes as no one came close to repeating the type of season he had in 2018, and a quarter of this season he is arguably better. If you choose a quarter-season MVP, Mahomes should win by unanimous decision. He dominated without his best receiver, Tyreek Hill, who missed most of the season with a shoulder injury.

It’s pretty easy to put Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana or Peyton Manning in historical perspective when we’re debating the greatest quarterbacks of all time. We don’t know what to make of Mahomes, even though what he does is the first of its kind.

Mahomes is the face of the NFL

It’s not just that Mahomes is incredibly efficient and posting unprecedented numbers. He’s funny.

Mahomes has the cannon arm and no-look passes. He has a unique look and a more unique voice. He’s a likeable personality in a league that prefers its players to show no personality. Given that Patriots fatigue has turned everyone against Tom Brady, Mahomes is clearly the face of the NFL now. It will be so for a long time.

The NFL is also less predictable than Major League Baseball or the NBA. There is more uncertainty about what will happen next with Mahomes. A big injury could change everything. Sometimes the rest of the league catches up with the players. In 2012, did anyone think seven years later that Andrew Luck would be retired and Robert Griffin III would be on the road to career change?

But right now, Mahomes looks like a future Hall of Famer. He seems to have the chance to become one of the greatest players of all time. It sounds like hyperbole, but he’s already done things we’ve never seen before.

It’s impossible to say exactly where Mahomes’ career is headed. For now, sit back and enjoy the show.

Jared Goff, Rams face test against Seahawks on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

The Los Angeles Rams signed quarterback Jared Goff to a four-year, $134 million deal in early September. That’s exactly what NFL teams do. Unless a QB has proven himself incompetent, he’s going to land a huge contract. There’s not a lot of critical thinking when it comes to the quarterback. Teams just pay.

Even though that’s how the NFL operates mindlessly, you have to wonder if the Rams have any private regrets. Goff doesn’t look like a quarterback expected to take more than 15% of the Rams’ salary cap. Since last November it looks average or worse. But he’s paid like he’s one of the best in the NFL. In terms of annual average, Goff is tied with Aaron Rodgers as the third highest-paid player in NFL history.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

Goff leads the Rams in a Thursday night showdown against the Seattle Seahawks, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app. It’s a key fight in the NFC West race between two 3-1 teams watching the San Francisco 49ers 3-0.

The Rams are paying Goff $33.5 million a season on his overtime to dominate in games like this.

Jared Goff racked up plenty of yards and turnovers against the Bucs

Goff posted huge numbers last week. His 517 yards were tied for eighth most in NFL history. He had 45 completions. But it wasn’t a great game.

Goff missed shots early as the Rams fell to a 21-0 hole. Goff makes three interceptions and loses a fumble. The Rams fell 55-40 to the Buccaneers. With Todd Gurley seemingly no longer one of the NFL’s best running backs, the Rams need a lot more Goff.

Do you remember the Rams 54-51 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last November? Goff was certainly excellent in this game. It looked like it was the night he entered an elite class of quarterbacks. Since then it has been mediocre at best. In 12 games, including the playoffs, Goff completed 276 of 459 passes for 3,107 yards, 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. That’s a passer rating of 77.1. Only two NFL starting quarterbacks last season posted a rating below 77: Josh Allen and Josh Rosen. Both were beginners.

Since last November, Goff has looked more like a rookie than a quarterback worth a nine-figure extension.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff had four turnovers against Tampa Bay. (Getty Images)

The Rams need Goff to play better

The Rams could have played Goff’s situation differently. They could have traded Goff for a pick bonus and let Sean McVay develop a new, young, cheap quarterback. It would have been radical and unlike anything any other team had ever done, but they could have noted that the NFL’s biggest advantage is a good quarterback on his rookie contract and acted on it. Then they could have used the $33.5 million per season they give Goff on the rest of the roster.

But NFL teams don’t work that way. Even teams that make otherwise sound decisions fear the unknown at quarterback. The Rams pay Goff twice as much a year as the Houston Texans pay JJ Watt. It doesn’t seem like a wise investment.

It’s also true that 12 games doesn’t define Goff’s career. He was good for most of last season and played well in an NFC Championship win. He’s just 24, plays on a talented attack under a good coach and wouldn’t be the first young player to have a meltdown. Maybe for the rest of this season, Goff will play as an MVP candidate and his contract will be worth it for the Rams.

But as the Rams head to Seattle for a huge early season game, they need to play better from their quarterback. They need him to play like one of the best in the NFL. That kind of pressure comes with those nine-figure deals.

Mobile sports app revenue hits $93 million in second quarter as DAZN claims top spot

By Sports app

Total revenue generated from mobile sports apps reached $166 million in the first half of 2019 as streaming services continued to grow in popularity around the world.

According to Sports App Status Report by analyst firm Sensor Tower, combined App Store and Google Play Store revenue hit a record $93 million in the second quarter, beating the all-time best of $73 million set a quarter earlier.

Analysts now believe the $100 million threshold could be breached for the first time in the third quarter.

Revenue from mobile sports apps

The number of downloads recorded over the past three months was 254 million, surpassing 200 million for the fifth consecutive quarter. However, this figure was down year-on-year, with 294 million downloads in the second quarter of 2018, mainly due to the World Cup in Russia.

Given Android’s much larger install base, it’s no surprise that Google’s mobile platform accounts for the lion’s share of downloads. Android was responsible for 186 million, with the App Store contributing 68 million.

However, iOS is a much more lucrative platform for app developers. Although Google Play’s revenue doubled to £24m in the second quarter, three-quarters was generated by Apple’s market, amounting to $69m.

The continued growth can largely be attributed to the rise of online streaming. DAZN, which only entered the rankings last year, was the top app by revenue in the first half. This ended the long reign of MLB At Bat, which offers live audio and video of baseball games via in-app purchases.

DAZN getting the top spot is significant because it reached the top spot despite only being available in a select number of countries.

Meanwhile, ESPN, which now offers subscriptions to its expanded ESPN+ streaming service in the US, moved up five spots. MLB At Bat drops to third place, with NBA in fourth and fifth place, GPS hunting app OnX Hunt proves it’s not just streaming that’s driving growth.

As sports broadcasters expand beyond traditional TV platforms and the organizations themselves go direct-to-consumer (D2C), the market will continue to grow. At the same time, the digitization of sport and the generalization of 4G and 5G networks will see the emergence of entirely new applications.

While the heady days of 2018, when the App Store saw a 70% increase in revenue, are unlikely to repeat themselves, net revenue could top $250 million this year. Longer term, analysts expect a 23% growth rate over the next five years, with revenue reaching $520 million by 2023.

On the Google Play side of the equation, the projected growth rate is largely the same at 22%, reaching $151 million. This means that the total market for sports apps will reach $635 million within five years.

Of course, these numbers only represent revenue generated directly from the app itself. They do not take into account subscriptions paid elsewhere, nor the impact of the legalization of sports betting by the US government last year.

3-0 Packers take on Eagles on Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Aaron Rodgers could finally have a championship-caliber defense again with the Green Bay Packers.

And suddenly we don’t know if Rodgers’ offense will be good enough to make it back to the Super Bowl.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, here’s how]

As the Packers prepare to face the struggling Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports app, things would look very good in Green Bay. The Packers are 3-0 and have previous wins over NFC North rivals Chicago and Minnesota.

Still, there are concerns about an offense that is far from impressive at this stage. Rodgers knows this can’t go on.

The Packers offense was unimpressive

The schedule has been set for a slow start to the Packers offense. The Bears and Vikings have stellar defenses. Green Bay faced the Denver Broncos in Week 3, and while the Broncos defense has mysteriously struggled this season, there’s still talent in this group.

Still, it’s strange to see an attack led by Rodgers not yield much. The Packers are 23rd in points and 28th in yards in three games. In addition to avoiding interceptions — Rodgers hasn’t intercepted in 93 attempts — the offense ranks below average in just about every major offensive stat. The Packers had a 21-point outburst in their first three practices against the Vikings, but other than that the offense hasn’t been good.

“It’s time for us to do our part on offense,” Rodgers said, according to Packers.com. “In the future, we will face very good football teams. At some point, we can’t expect our defense to stop everyone. They were, but at some point the attack will have to wake up and start playing. »

It’s probably good that Rodgers and the Packers recognize the offense needs to improve despite a 3-0 start. It is more difficult to determine if the problems are fixable.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is off to a relatively slow start this season. (AP)

Many factors in offensive struggles for Green Bay

There are many factors involved in the slow start to the attack, and timing is clearly one of them. This is not the only one.

New coach Matt LaFleur brought in a new system, and the only other time he ran an offense was last season with the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee ranked 27th in points and 25th in yards last season, but with injury issues at quarterback Marcus Mariota. Still, LaFleur doesn’t have much of a track record. Maybe we’ll look back and realize that LaFleur wasn’t as good as his reputation. We do not know yet.

There are also questions about Rodgers. He will be 36 on December 2. His 2017 and 2018 seasons were plagued with injuries and while he wasn’t bad when he played, he didn’t live up to his usual standards. It has continued this season, and he is healthy.

The supporting cast also gets off to a slow start. Davante Adams was pretty quiet, with 198 yards and no touchdowns, and Jimmy Graham had just three catches for 30 yards. Rodgers said the Packers need to get them both started.

Green Bay’s defense has been fantastic for three games. That’s why the Packers are 3-0. If the Packers want the good times to continue, the offense needs to show up as well.

“We never wanted to just run the game of football here,” Rodgers said, according to the Packers’ website. “The standards are very high for us. We have to play much better in attack. We played good defences, there’s no doubt about it, but the level and expectations are very high here, and we haven’t met them in attack.

Packers-Bears launches its 100th season on the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

The Green Bay Packers, perhaps more than any other team, must be happy that they can finally play a game.

It has been a long time since a relationship between a quarterback and a first-year coach had garnered as much attention as pair Aaron Rodgers-Matt LaFleur. It is understandable and tiring. At least when the Packers take on the Chicago Bears to launch the 2019 Thursday Night, a game that can be streamed live on the Yahoo Sports mobile app, there will be something new to say.

[Watch live NFL games on the Yahoo Sports app, download it here.]

Green Bay is a small market, which means the Packers coverage is intense. The Packers are the main topic of conversation 365 days a year in Wisconsin. Everything is dissected. So when there was a question to the Boy Scouts combine in February about how much Rodgers could be audible on the line, it was a story that went on for months.

“You just won’t stop with this audible thing. It’s unbelievable, ”a frustrated LaFleur said on Tuesday. ” What do you want me to say ? “

It has been a long offseason, but that doesn’t mean the problem isn’t important.

Matt LaFleur’s relationship with Aaron Rodgers takes center stage

Rodgers’ relationship with LaFleur is so important because of what happened with Mike McCarthy.

McCarthy was fired last year after 13 seasons as a head coach, and there were rumors about Rodgers’ relationship with him. Next, Tyler Dunne wrote a memorable Bleacher Report story detailing the friction between the two, which could date back to Rodgers being ignored in the San Francisco 49ers draft when McCarthy was their offensive coordinator. The story included stories of Rodgers disrespecting McCarthy and regularly changing parts after they were dispatched.

This story did not help LaFleur. He’s a newbie head coach, and that has a lot of challenges. Add to that trying to manage a relationship with a future Hall of Fame quarterback who is one of the greatest figures in franchise history, and it gets even trickier.

And when everything is in the news, even a trivial disagreement over the validity of common practices, it adds to the tension.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) and Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur at training camp. (Getty Images)

Rodgers could thrive in a new attack

At training camp, Rodgers said he didn’t like joint training, especially the safety aspect of live special team drills. LaFleur, separately, said he liked joint practices. And, in some quarters, this became proof that there was already friction between the two. When you step back and think about the situation, two men disagree on a subject that does not really touch them on a daily basis, it’s crazy that it becomes the sign of a relationship that is already deteriorating. There is no shortage of overreactions when it comes to this story.

That’s why the Packers must be happy to play a game. We can see if Rodgers goes on to a new offense. McCarthy’s offensive had become obsolete. If LaFleur is as good as advertised – and it’s fair to be skeptical about that – then Rodgers could have a big final chapter in his career. If he wins another Super Bowl with LaFleur, there will be a very different take on his legacy, and it will revolve around McCarthy holding him back.

We’ll see the first results Thursday night against a Bears defense that was the best in the NFL last season. If Rodgers and the offense fight from the get-go, we’re sure to hear a lot about it.

The sports app I wish I had when I was a kid

By Sports app

Our Voice of the Athlete Series provides a forum for athletes to talk about the impact of technology on their careers and lives outside of the games. This week, Brooklyn Nets shooter Joe Harris talks about his recent investment in HomeCourt and the technologies that helped him become one of the NBA’s top marksmen.

* * *

Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Harris has been in the NBA since 2014 and carved out a career sinking 3-pointers. His 42.7 shooting percentage from beyond the arc is the 11th best in league history and ranks fourth among active players, behind Seth Curry, Steph Curry and Kyle Korver. Last February, Harris won the 3-point shooting contest at All-Star weekend.

Last winter, Harris began integrating the HomeCourt iOS basketball shooting app into his coaching. And last week at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, he was announced as an investor in HomeCourt’s $8.5 million Series A funding round along with half a dozen current and former professional players, including eight-time All-Star Steve Nash. As part of the NBA’s official partnership with HomeCourt, Harris and Nash and other players will appear in workout videos on the app.

A slam dunk…

“I invested in it because I was above all a user. I run a youth camp every year and have seen the impact it has had on the kids. It just blew my mind to think of the spectrum it covers – you have seven, eight year olds using it, but then I use it almost every day when doing shooting practice.

“In one case, you develop the game, you learn, you enjoy it, but this technology is sophisticated enough that college teams and NBA players use it to practice. And that’s not a prank, everyone really uses HomeCourt because the AI and technology is as good as anything I’ve seen in my time playing.

THE NEW SCOUTING: The NBA wants to find the next LeBron James by turning every home court into a world stage

On mobile training…

“It’s amazing to me that [HomeCourt] take everything on the phone. I’ll take my phone and place it against the baseline when I shoot in Brooklyn. And when the kids were using it at camp, they all had their iPads lined up. As long as you have a phone, it’s accessible and reasonably priced. Much of the technology that exists today that measures analytics and data is so expensive and difficult to install. And that you can take anywhere. Children use it in their garden. The opportunities with this are kind of endless.

To grow…

“I think it’s going to really engage young players and make them want to practice because it’s fun to use. I consider myself a kid: I’d be in the gym shooting and keeping track of my hits and misses when I was shooting. If I could have had something like that, where I had hard evidence to back up what I might feel when shooting… I could just see it. I could still go for it and say to myself, ‘Okay, am I consistent? Am I shooting flat? Am I shooting with too much arc? Am I moving fast enough? different things that will help you become a better player, but now it’s like having your own coach to help you.

“It’s going to really engage young players and make them want to practice because it’s fun to use. I consider myself a kid: I’d be in the gym shooting and keeping track of my successes and my failures.

The videos I made…

“Basically these are some of the exercises that I did at my camp with my kids and do myself. HomeCourt filmed me doing them, running through them, talking about proper mechanics, footwork, numbers you should aim for, how fast you should run through them. Just a whole bunch of different stuff. And now the kids can continue there, they can watch me do it and explain it, and they can do it themselves and even compare their stats to mine, which is pretty cool.

Inspired by…

“It’s the first [investment] that I got involved with. My buddy Matthew Dellavedova, [the point guard for the Cavaliers and an investor in HomeCourt], he’s pretty savvy in the VC space, especially with technical stuff. When I first talked to her about it, it was one of the first opportunities where there was a real synergy and connection with her. There are things where you go to intuition, you say to yourself: “Oh, that’s really cool” or “That could be revolutionary”. But it’s another thing to be like, ‘Okay, this is something I love and actually would have used.’

“I could see the impact it could have on the game. Even the only data he’s going to be able to collect is amazing. It’s definitely one of those things where you don’t need someone super experienced in this space to see how big this could be. And I’m just thrilled to be a part of it all.

JAM SESSION: The NBA Summer League is a laboratory for creativity and innovation

Future business…

“I had several different opportunities, but if I don’t know about it, I don’t just want to invest. I’m one of those people who do their due diligence on everything. I almost get analysis paralysis and I overanalyze. With HomeCourt, I was much more excited to be a part of it because I had used it.

Kinexon and Wearables…

All the data and analytics people use…we track it all [at the Brooklyn Nets]. We use wearables, such as Kinexon [a player-tracking technology that measures metrics such as load and movement]. I’m sure a lot of teams use it; we’ve been using it for a while. Our sports performance team uses it all the time to dictate the flow of workouts. We have a chip that is placed in the back of our shirts and we wear them pretty much all the time except for games.

Big Ten Network transfers conference content to the Fox Sports app

By Sports app

The Big Ten Network (BTN), the Fox-owned Big Ten Conference-sanctioned college sports channel, to shut down its BTN2Go over-the-top (OTT) service amid plans to transfer its content on the Fox Sports app. .

Speaking at the Big Ten Media Days 2019 event, Francois McGillicuddy, who was named BTN president in December, confirmed that the move would likely be completed by mid-August, and would mean BTN2Go ‘n’ will no longer exist ”.

In doing so, the streaming platform’s mobile app will instead host content from the BTN Plus service, which hosts non-televised matches from the Big Ten football and basketball competitions.

“It’s important to note that between BTN, Fox and Fox Sports 1, we are talking about the broadcast rights to over 70% of the Big Ten football inventory,” McGillicuddy said. “So with so many games now in our family of networks, it just didn’t make sense to lead fans to separate places.”

The Fox Sports app allows subscribers to stream live Fox Sports sports coverage remotely or from home through a range of connected devices.

In addition to the BTN2Go digital channels, McGillicuddy also revealed that BTN content will no longer be available on the Fox Sports Go website and mobile app.

A statement from BTN read: “Starting in mid-August, all content on the BTN network – including games, studio shows and original programming – will be hosted in the Fox Sports app alongside matches from Big Ten football airs on Fox and FS1.

“This content will no longer live on BTN2Go, which will cease to exist in its current form. Ultimately, bringing everything together in one place will make it easier for fans to find what they’re looking for on match day.

BTN2Go streaming moves to Fox Sports app

By Sports app

There have been many media developments during the various media days of the NCAA conference this week, from programming announcements for Big 12 Now to the broadcast programming for the ACC Network to the official SEC Twitter account. Big Ten’s media days kicked off Thursday, and these also saw notable media announcements from the Big Ten Network, from Matt Millen’s return to the booth to changes to BTN streaming:

As a result, BTN’s authenticated cable streaming (BTN2Go) will migrate to the Fox Sports app, which is among the larger changes underway. Following the close of the Fox-Disney sale and the subsequent sale of the Fox regional sports networks to Sinclair, the Fox Sports and Fox Sports Go applications branched off; both offered both Fox Cable (Fox, FS1, FS2, BTN) and RSN content, but Fox Sports Go is now RSN only (and will likely be renamed when those RSNs are inevitably renamed under their new owners), and this RSN content no longer exists in the main Fox Sports app. In fact, McGillicuddy has said that Fox is selling the Fox Sports Go app (presumably to Sinclair), with that transaction scheduled to close in August; this is why BTN streaming will now be managed through the Fox Sports app.

On some levels, it can make things simpler. There is now one destination for authenticated BTN cable streaming (the Fox Sports app) and another for streaming on the over-the-top BTN + subscription service (which covers games that are not on TV and requires additional subscription whether or not you have cable). And with BTN + now at the center of this app, maybe that will inspire BTN to find ways to improve and promote this service further. (He is a little hard to sell in some ways, like comparable SEC, ACC, and Pac-12 products are included with a subscription to these networks, and much of the similar Big 12 and Group of Five content is included with ESPN +, which is $ 5 per month. instead of $ 9.99 / month or $ 79.99 / year for BTN + for a school or $ 14.95 / month or $ 119.95 / year for the whole conference), but maybe they can find ways improve it.) However, some have mentioned that BTN2Go offered a better streaming experience than Fox’s apps, so there are complaints about it. We’ll see how this streaming change works for BTN.

After the Disney sale, the Fox Sports app splits into two different apps

By Sports app

Football fans watching a matchIn the past, Fox Sports and the Fox Sports Go apps offered the same content to you from FS1 and Fox Regional Sports Networks. Now that Disney and soon Sinclair own the Fox Regional Sports Networks, two Fox Sports applications have been created.

The Fox Sports app now includes content from places like FS1 and BTN. The Fox Sports Go app now includes content from the Fox Regional Sports Network. (Although the description still lists the Fox Sports Go app as including FS1 and BTN.)

This probably means that soon, if not already on your favorite devices, you will no longer be able to access FS1 content next to your Fox Regional Sports Network. Now Fox Sports Go app has local RSN content and Fox Sports app has FS1 content etc. according to some of our readers. From what we can tell, Fox is slowly rolling out this new app to devices like the Apple TV.

Sinclair has not indicated what they will do with the Fox RSN names once they shut them down. Although it is very likely that they will change their name very soon. This division of the two apps into Fox Sports Go and Fox Sports is likely only temporary until the full rebranding occurs. First, Sinclair must close its more than $ 10 billion deal to buy the Fox RSN networks.

NFL rights help Yahoo Sports app mark millions of users – AdExchanger

By Sports app

In February, you can watch the Super Bowl on your phone with the Yahoo Sports app.

Last year, Verizon purchased the mobile and tablet rights to the NFL games for Yahoo Sports. Live coverage of the NFL has drawn 4.3 million people to download the Yahoo Sports app this season, in addition to the 1.1 million people who downloaded the app during the playoffs last year, when Yahoo Sports piloted the mobile draw.

The average user checks a game a handful of times and watches for 44 minutes.

“On a Sunday at 3:27 pm I would know any game that started at 1:00 pm is in the fourth quarter,” said Geoff Reiss, general manager and vice president of Yahoo Sports, which is part of Oath, owned by Verizon.

So users register – and while they’re at it, they watch a few ads, with an average completion rate of 90%, according to Yahoo Sports.

Under the terms of the deal, Yahoo runs ads from domestic advertisers and sells the remaining portion of the ad space itself, attracting advertisers like Honda and Snickers. Advertisers cannot purchase an individual game, but those who purchase a strip of mobile ads to run during the playoffs will also have their ads displayed in the app during the Super Bowl, TV’s most prestigious programming event. .

The idea of a digital business getting a foothold in a tentpole game where a 30-second ad costs $ 5 million would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. Today, Yahoo is one of a crowded group of digital sports rights bidders.

Amazon broadcasts Thursday Night Football, like Twitter did last year. YouTube and Hulu offer live television, making sports streaming a reality. ESPN launched its own direct-to-consumer offering called ESPN + this year, which leverages its extensive library of sports rights.

“There is going to be an ongoing fragmentation of how sports rights are delivered to the market, which will create opportunities for emerging players,” said Reiss.

As sports rights become available for renewal, more and more of them will be reclaimed by digital players, he predicted.

Verizon didn’t write a big check to acquire the NFL’s mobile broadcast rights just for ads, however.

“The NFL is helping us drive up the funnel into the global ecosystem,” Reiss said.

This means reintroducing the Yahoo brand to a new generation. With 60% of viewers under the age of 40, the NFL is helping Yahoo attract viewers who may not remember when Yahoo was the first Internet portal.

The Yahoo Sports ecosystem is also growing. Yahoo has expanded into college fantasy football this year. Football fans take quiz questions in the weekly Yahoo Fantasy Slate mobile contest to win cash prizes in a HQ-like experience.

Yahoo has also created its own version of SportsCenter for the app called “The Rush”. The three-minute program worked so well that it inspired two spinoffs: one for fantasy sports players and another for sports bettors. Former NFL player Martellus Bennett also hosts the sports comedy show “Mostly Football”.

At the end of the football season, Yahoo plans to target basketball fans. Through an agreement with the NBA, app users can watch eight non-market basketball games on NBA League Pass before reaching the paywall and must subscribe to the premium offer.

Are more paid offers in the works at Yahoo Sports as the company tests a subscription version of Yahoo Finance?

“Absolutely,” Reiss said. “Our job is to make sure we have the right economic proposition. There isn’t a single financial use case that we want to pit against 13 million people. “

Just as theater producers try to “resize a house,” Reiss must determine what the “orchestra” and “balcony” experiences might look like for Yahoo Sports – and what each should cost.

Yahoo Sports’ big push into live sports comes as its parent company regroups. Oath lost its leader and name this year when Tim Armstrong left and Oath became Verizon Media Group. With Verizon’s vision focused on 5G, will the scale and ambition of Yahoo Sports’ plan slow down?

No, according to Reiss. Engagement and traffic are increasing year on year.

“Sport is an area of growth for the company,” he said. “We have more support than ever from our parent company to develop this business, and we believe we have deserved this investment. “

This sports site perfectly appropriates the street art of Detroit | Art Stories and Interviews | Detroit

By Sports website

We were surprised to see a long history of Detroit street art in The ring, from all places. Although billing itself as a pop culture website, the website was founded by sportswriter Bill Simmons in 2016 and primarily covers sports. But the website released a nuanced exploration of Detroit’s street art scene on Thursday that is well worth reading for anyone interested in art and urban dynamics and the collision of the two.

“The Rise and Risk of the Wall Economy,” a nearly 6,000-word deep dive, picks up several different threads — many of which have already been covered here in MTincluding Murals in the Market, Mayor Mike Duggan’s graffiti war, anxiety over gentrification, Ford’s acquisition of Michigan Central Station, neighborhood branding (thanks for the link! ) – and masterfully synthesizes them into one insightful piece.

The central question is the role played, unconsciously or not, by “hungry” artists in the transformation of cities. In addition to physically transforming walls with colorful murals, artwork can, especially in the hands of businesses, serve to transform entire neighborhoods, raising the profile (and real estate listings) of previously underserved communities. assessed.

An example passage:

Street art is now a business, not just a passion project, and artists are entrepreneurs. Although they are finding more opportunities than ever to paint, disentangling the joy of labor from the complexity of its impacts is becoming more difficult as the art itself becomes more valuable to more people. “If a developer has a lot of money and they’re going to pay me and I need a job, weighing my morals against my rent is a very difficult decision to make,” says Ellen Rutt, an artist of Detroit who has painted both commercial and non-commercial murals. “And I feel like it’s hard to empower the people who are most at risk and also feeling the effects of gentrification. That’s one of the hardest parts – sometimes I paint a wall and I literally paint myself from my own apartment.

The story leaves the question open – no one knows how things will turn out in Detroit – but it does raise some interesting points along the way. You can read the whole story here.

The claim of “the first team-focused mobile app” seems a bit of a stretch, considering previous offerings from Bleacher Report, ESPN, The Score, Big Ten Network, and many more (with all of those including customization of the website). ‘team, and some of them including live game broadcasts). There were previously opportunities for RSN subscribers to stream live match coverage through the NBC Sports app.

But the MyTeams approach seems like an easier way to find coverage for a particular team, and it also seems to offer more opportunities to broadcast on match day (pre and post-match shows) as well. as the linear RSN channel. And focusing on particular teams seems useful; that way, fans of a team in a city who don’t follow all of the teams in that city should be able to see only what interests them. Also, it makes sense to separate the content of the NBC Sports regional networks app from the regular content of the NBC / NBCSN app available on the NBC Sports app, as this could make it easier to find particular games or content. (and easier to get technical support if something goes wrong).

It should be noted that this only affects a few teams in particular: six NFL teams, seven NBA teams, five NHL teams, and seven MLB teams. But it’s a notable development nonetheless, and it comes on top of some of the unconventional moves NBC Sports is trying with its regional networks. This includes over-the-top streaming of Blazers game packages (back for a second year) and over-the-top off-market access to pre-game and post-game content on NBC Sports Philadelphia. . We’ll see what they do next.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s image is back on EA Sports website

By Sports website

Update, October 7: Cristiano Ronaldo appears again on the EA Sports website, having been temporarily removed.

EA is “watching closely” allegations of sexual assault against Juventus and Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo. The soccer player is the star of EA Sports’ FIFA 19 cover, having also featured on the cover of the previous game in the series.

The allegations against Ronaldo date back to 2009, when the player was still attached to Manchester United. An American claims that Ronaldo sexually assaulted her at a Las Vegas hotel in June of that year, and that she was then paid $ 375,000 before signing a nondisclosure agreement.

Nine years after the alleged incident, the woman identified herself. In an article published last week by German newspaper Der Spiegel, Kathryn Mayorga said she reported the incident to Las Vegas police the day after it allegedly occurred. Since the allegations resurfaced, police have confirmed that they have reopened the investigation and that a rape kit recovered from a hospital the day after the assault was reported is still in their possession. Mayorga has spoken at length with Der Speigel about the allegations and has now filed a civil lawsuit against Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is featured on the cover of the game, but also in the game itself. His character appears in the game’s story mode – The Journey: Champions – and he’s a highly sought after player as well. Ronaldo is the highest rated player in the game when it comes to base stats and can also be acquired as a particularly rare “Ones to Watch” card in the game’s Ultimate Team mode.

EA appears to have briefly removed Ronaldo from their official FIFA 19 promotional website, but as of October 7, his image appears there again in the EA Sports drop-down menu for FIFA 19.

We reached out to EA for comment on the allegations and asked if the allegations would impact Ronaldo’s appearance as a cover star in FIFA 19 or in future series titles. In response, a spokesperson said: “We have seen the disturbing report which details the allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo. We are monitoring the situation closely, as we expect cover athletes and ambassadors to behave in a manner consistent with EA’s values.

According to this Resetera thread, Ronaldo’s image was pulled from the EA Sports website earlier this week. However, a recent update to the thread’s original post says its image has been uploaded to the site. While representatives appear for all of the company’s other sports titles, Ronaldo does not appear on EA’s other official marks on FIFA.

There is no direct precedent for EA to take action against cover stars facing legal action. Tiger Woods remained the face of the studio’s golf series during several controversies in the winter of 2009, but NFL stars were removed from the contestant pools – and from the game altogether – as a result of allegations of assault and convictions.

Cristiano Ronaldo removed from EA Sports website in rape investigation | Launderer report

By Sports website

Luca Bruno / Associated press

EA Sports removed image of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo from a FIFA 19 photo video game coverage on its website Friday.

Onefootball’s Francesco Porzio posted before and after images of the site on Twitter:

Francesco Porzio @fraporzio95

Meanwhile, @EA removed the #CristianoRonaldo photo from the website. Old and new versions ⬇️ https://t.co/NaeofgDPFY

EA Sports’ decision to remove Ronaldo’s photo from the website follows the reopening of a Las Vegas police investigation into a allegation by American Kathryn Mayorga that Ronaldo raped her in a hotel room in 2009.

According to the Spanish newspaper LIKE, EA Sports issued the following statement regarding the removal of Ronaldo’s image: “We have seen the disturbing report which details the allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo. We are monitoring the situation closely as we await cover athletes and ambassadors that they behave in a manner consistent with EA’s values. “

After fans noticed that Ronaldo was removed from the banner photo of the game’s Twitter account on Wednesday, a spokesperson for EA Sports said Eurogamer’s Wesley Yin-Poole that the company “updates its social banners for certain marketing beats. “

Last week Ronaldo called the allegation of “fake news” on Instagram Live and added, “They want to promote my name. It’s normal. They want to be famous for saying my name, but that’s part of the job. I am a happy man and everything is fine. “

According to the BBC, Ronaldo would have reached a Settlement of $ 375,000 with Mayorga in 2010. In return, Mayorga agreed not to make the allegation public.

Mayorga’s claim was made public in german magazine Der Spiegel, and Ronaldo’s lawyers called the report of the publication “patently illegal” while announcing their intention to seek damages.

FIFA 19 was released on September 28 with Ronaldo as the cover athlete in his Juventus kit after joining the club during a transfer from Real Madrid in July.

Ronaldo’s image removed from EA Sports website

By Sports website

EA Sports removed Ronaldo’s image from its website and social media pages following rape allegations that surfaced earlier this week.

The Cover Stars of EA Sports’ Biggest Video Game Series – FIFA, Madden, NHL, PGA Tour, NBA Live and UFC – all are on the homepage of the website except Ronaldo. The video game developer recently removed its image from the FIFA banner, as well as their social media channels.

EA Sports has the image of Cristiano Ronaldo on their website

EA and Nike statements

Although he did not state the reasons for the change of website, tThe company released a statement on Wednesday in response to the rape allegations, in which it states: “We have seen the disturbing report which details the allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo. We are monitoring the situation closely as we expect athletes and cover ambassadors to behave in a manner consistent with EA’s values.”

EA is one of two Ronaldo sponsors to make a public statement on the case. On Thursday, Nike said it was “Deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations” against the soccer star. Ronaldo’s lifetime deal with Nike is estimated at $ 1 billion.

Fios and Yahool Sports app – The best tech options when you can’t access the game

By Sports app

The football season kicks off September 6, and unless you’re a season ticket holder you’ll want to know how to get the best viewing experience outside of the stadium. Whether you’re on the couch, playing with your kids, or running an errand, we’ve got some tips to make the most of your viewing experience.

Couchgating Central

It’s just become easier than ever to upgrade your home theater and become the destination of choice for all your fan friends, according to Steve Koenig, vice president of research for the Consumer Technology Association. Start by upgrading your TV to a 4K display, which is four times the resolution of HD displays. “The premium 4k high dynamic range television, or HDR, will likely be well under $ 1,000 in a size of 55,” he says. “Add room-filling sound for $ 300 to $ 500 with the enhanced audio quality of a soundbar,” he suggests. Many TV manufacturers offer a TV and soundbar combo that is designed to snap together. For deeper roars and thuds, you can choose a soundbar that comes with a subwoofer, which enhances low tones.

Enough bandwidth for a party?

Imagine this: it’s Sunday and the pre-game is being played on your big screen. Your teenager is playing Fortnite with ongoing commentary with her friends, your daughter is streaming on youtube and video chatting with her best friend, you recheck the blue cheese dip recipe online, your spouse is watching a different game on a phone mobile with Yahoo Sports, and your dozens of friends receive updates on their Yahoo Fantasy rankings while also using your WiFi to set up a friendly debate on player stats.

Whatever the details of your home, exhausting your internet connection can compromise the quality of your viewing or create lags. You need a strong signal if you want to enjoy every minute of the game. The solution is simple: just choose the Fios plan that meets your needs. You can get it all up to Gigabit Fios connection with speeds up to 940/880 Mbps.

“We provide Gigabit connection service to almost all of our customers, which is over 90% of our market,” said John R Schommer, director of broadband product development at Verizon. “With the Fios Quantum Gateway router, we can stream up to 100 devices simultaneously,” he says. “Our network was built with fiber optic right into the house, so it can handle all the crazy amounts of streaming you could possibly need. ”

Boost your signal

If you have a strong signal and are still having issues, your TV may be too far from the router. Or it could be that your walls are too strong for the signal to pass through them. There is also a simple solution to these problems. A repeater is a device that helps get your signal to where you need it. The Fios Network Extender uses a coaxial cable to connect to the signal, says Schommer. Many homes are already wired to have a cable near the TV, making it easy to add an extension cord.

Why am I excluded from playing my A’s via TV Everywhere?

Similar to A’s game shows on NBC Sports California, game availability through TV Everywhere is subject to territorial blackout restrictions.

I haven’t had any issues (travel/simultaneity/various technologies) with NBA/NHL – why am I getting this message for MLB content?

MLB content is subject to a different set of technical and security requirements than NBA/NHL games.

I’m at work, in my local market on a desktop computer, but I’m passed out?

In some cases, such as at work, some networks use an out-of-state shared wireless or Internet service provider. In this case, your office is registered as out of state since the Internet ISP is based out of state. As a result, your desktop will be blacked out, as our games are subject to territory restrictions.

If not, please follow the “technical question” escalation (as written in the first question above).

Is NBC Sports or NBC Sports regional network content available without a subscription to a video provider?

A: Yes, you can continue to www.nbcsports.com or your regional network websites to access select event clips, highlights and expert commentary without a video provider subscription.

NBC Sports app is coming to Xbox One just in time for the Olympics

By Sports app

The opening ceremonies for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics took place last night to kick off the event that will take place over the past two weeks. NBC Sports is the exclusive provider of the Olympics in the United States and they have now launched their NBC Sports app for Xbox One just in time.

NBC previously had their own app for Xbox One where people could watch shows, but now they also have their own NBC Sports app not only for the Olympics but also for many NBC events in the future like the games of NFL Sunday Night football. This news came from an NBC press release for the app.

“The Olympics are coming to Xbox and Samsung devices thanks to the NBC Sports app. NBC Sports Groups announced that its live streaming product is now available for the Xbox streaming platform and select Samsung devices to authenticated pay TV subscribers. The platforms join Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Comcast’s X1, Roku, Win10, Apple iOS and Android devices that will have access to over 4,500 hours of NBC streaming for the 2016 Summer Olympics. “

The only downside here is that you will need to subscribe to cable TV which defeats the purpose somewhat as you might just be watching on TV. The good news is that there are quite a few cable TV providers you can connect with, so there’s a good chance your business will be on the list.

In total, the NBC Sports app will offer over 4,500 hours of streaming coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympics, so be sure to download the app if you plan to watch some of the events between your gaming sessions.

“It could be a good move for NBC as long as the software incorporates the five steps covering tournament registration, scoring, league management, squad management and recruiting,” said Joe Mohen, CEO by Chimes Broadcasting.

SI Play was created by ex-Time CEO Joe Ripp, who took over three sites – League Athletics, Sports Sign Up, and iScore – and combined them under the Sports Illustrated umbrella in mid-2015.

In 2016, sports scoring sites were taken over by other players. Dick’s Sporting Goods bought GameChanger and NBC took over the Sports Engine site.

A source familiar with the situation said: “When Sports Illustrated Play was launched by Ripp, it was a bold first game of consolidation in the youth sports space. It was quickly followed by hundreds of millions of dollars of investment in competitive consolidation by Blue Star Sports. [Jerry Jones], NBC Sports and Dick’s Sporting Goods. In other words, for one of the first times in ages, Time Inc. was boldly in a first-come position to capture value and win a booming market. “

But that changed once Rich Battista took over and takeover rumors began to circulate around Time Inc., which ultimately agreed to sell the entire business to Meredith for 2.8. billions of dollars. The NBCUniversal deal is said to be for all the money and will close before the Meredith deal is finalized early next year.

Verizon will start streaming NFL games to anyone using the Yahoo Sports app

By Sports app

Verizon is expanding its agreement with the NFL so even people using other cellphone carriers can watch games on the Yahoo Sports mobile app, the league announced Monday.

Verizon has been the exclusive mobile operator for NFL games since 2010. The new agreement, which spans the 2022-23 season, will make games available to users of other carriers using Verizon’s Yahoo platform. Verizon completed its $4.5 billion acquisition of Yahoo in June.

Beginning with the 2018 playoffs, Yahoo users will receive nationally broadcast NFL games offered on Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights, as well as their local market games.

Verizon will nearly double its NFL rights fee to $400 million to $500 million a year, an indication that demand for league content is still robust despite declining ratings and bad publicity due to brain injury controversies and player protests during the national anthem before games.

Verizon was in the final year of its current deal with the NFL, which cost the carrier about $250 million a year and made games available only to its mobile customers.

Although traditional NFL game ratings are down for the second year in a row, streaming of games by younger viewers is on the rise. Young viewers are increasingly dependent on digital devices for video content.

“We are committed to fans to make Verizon’s family of media properties the mobile destination for live sports,” Lowell McAdam, president and CEO of Verizon Communications, said in a statement. “The NFL is a great partner for us and we’re excited to deliver its premier content at scale on mobile so viewers can enjoy live football and other NFL original content wherever and however they want. .”

Verizon’s deal is a taste of the kind of competition the TV networks and ESPN will have when their current deals with the NFL are renewed in 2022.

Amazon is currently the non-exclusive outlet for “NFL Thursday Night Football”. The online giant paid $50 million for the rights, five times more than Twitter paid the previous year.

FanDuel launches the Companion Fantasy Sports “Scout” application

By Sports app
[toc]The start of the NFL the season is a busy time for the daily fantasy sports operators. FanDuel has been particularly active as daily fantasy football intensifies, rolling out a number of tweaks and innovations for the new campaign.

Having already announced changes in “Leagues” and a new “Mini” mode, FanDuel now offers a free DFS companion app called Scout.

he joins DrafKings in this department, who deployed DK Live last year.

FanDuel Scout brings internal research

Most frequent DFS users rely on a variety of websites for weekly information. FanDuel tries to streamline the process for its customers, especially the less experienced among them. Launched last week, Scout aims to allow users to do light research without leaving the FanDuel brand.

The data is provided by the sports analysis company numberFire, which has established itself as an essential resource for comprehensive player statistics. It was acquired by FanDuel in 2015, and its content is now available in Scout itself.

Senior Director of Communications of FanDuel, emily bass, developed on the game plan for the application:

FanDuel Scout is our way of making sure that you are not only up to date with the news, but also have all of numberFire’s moneyball-like information, analysis and insight right at your fingertips.

Plus, because it’s a native mobile app, we’ll be able to send all kinds of useful and highly personalized stuff right to your phone: weather, roster changes, starting lineups, etc.

A pre-game tool, mainly

Scout connects directly to users’ FanDuel accounts, allowing them to import queues and follow the players during the week.

The “News” tab is the main portal, providing league-wide updates. The application displays depth maps for positions of competence, too, with betting lines and meteorological data for each game.

FanDuel has positioned it as a way to help level the playing field for recreational users who may not be familiar with the resources used by seasoned DFS shredders. (Like numberFire, for example.)

A watchlist feature allows users to follow a group of selected players. And the “My players” tab automatically imports a list of active players from the user’s formation (s). There are correspondence notes and game logs also for each player.

Scout is available for NFL and MLB for now, while the app lists NBA and NHL like “Coming soon”.

However, other features are missing.

FanDuel Scout vs. DK Live

Scout’s release is FanDuel’s response to DrafKings launch of its own “DK Live” application. The timing puts FanDuel a bit behind the curve; DK Live suffered important development since its launch.

DK Live data is already available for the four major US sports, plus Golf. Perhaps most notably, however, it does include some fantastic scoring information live in the app.

As with Scout, users can import the players they signed up for the week. But unlike Scout, DK Live tracks and updates fantastic scores in real time.

Real-time scoring allows DK Live to present a rich set of features. There is a color code “Big game” and “Red zone” notifications, as well as updates for scoring games that include point totals for players involved.

Users can also select an individual game to see the running fantastic totals for those two teams only. There is a “Driving tracker” to keep up with every possession in real time, too. It’s like having an interactive version of the NFL RedZone channel.

Here’s a look at the features of both:

Characteristic DK Live FanDuel Scout
Integration of the parental application Yes Yes
Filter “My players” Yes Yes
News in real time Yes Yes
Short content Yes Yes
Long content No Yes
Video content Yes No
Real time score Yes No
Betting lines No Yes
Weather reports No Yes

More development to come

Scout doesn’t have any of these features in the game. Not yet, at least. Another divergence from DraftKings, FanDuel has adapted its application to the pre-match process.

Bass says the launch is just the first step in a long grind, however:

One thing we always focus on is improving the experience for our players. Sometimes that shows up in things like new game formats like championships or new sports like WNBA, other times it’s completely new ideas like FanDuel Scout…

As the sports landscape changes and our users give us more and more feedback, we will be adding all kinds of cool new features to the app. We can’t say anything for sure, but the live score is definitely something we will see added to in the future.

Incorporating numberFire’s metrics is certainly a solid foundation to build on. Nonetheless, FanDuel will likely need to develop a few more features to make Scout as useful as expected. A live score would be a good start.

FanDuel Scout is available both on the App store and Google play.

Pickup Sports App Provides Community For Users – The Varsity

By Sports app

Alicia Luciani receives a pass on the left wing and runs towards me. As I try to steal the ball from her, she passes to her left foot. I can hear the collective sound of exasperated voices behind me. Luciani left, forcing me to chase after her in an attempt to prevent her from scoring.

It’s a Friday morning, just after 9:00 a.m. on the main campus of the University of Toronto, and a group of strangers are playing a 90-minute football game. All thanks to OpenSports, an application that allows users to organize and play pickup sports.

Co-founder and CEO James Gibbons believes OpenSports, launched in June 2016, can better serve people in transition to uncharted territory. It was created after Gibbons graduated from the University of Waterloo, when he and a friend realized they weren’t as physically active as they had been in the past.

“So we started looking around and there was Meetup which was more structured events and there was Facebook which was mostly your friends, and the idea that if you can get an Uber… basically anywhere in the world on demand you should be able to get a soccer game or someone to play tennis with on the go, ”Gibbons told University.

The application can provide users with the feeling of a structured community. Back Campus Fields are one of the primary locations for hosting football matches, the primary sport used by its 5,000 base. users.

“Alicia has led the attention in the demographics of football. We’ve seen soccer is this booming sport, we’ve seen people come to Toronto but they don’t know a lot of other people and soccer is this universal language for people to come together, ”added Gibbons. .

As Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder, Luciani employed a multi-channel and multiplatform marketing strategy, balancing the core aspects of interacting with users while gaming and publishing games on various social media platforms.

“We really ran with this idea and built the football community. This has been an important part of the process, then learning from the engagement in the field with the people who use the app and create and join games and play, ”said Luciani, MSc in Kinesiology and exercise science at the U of T.

“We may post links to these games on various channels like Facebook or Kijiji or Reddit or BlogTo, and it brings in people looking for sports. So we kind of reach them right where they’re looking, so we’re always trying to increase our digital marketing efforts, ”she added.

While the next step will be expansion into different regions, the co-founders are still determined to tackle the issue of women’s participation in sports, an issue they have seen illuminated by OpenSports.

“We’re trying to see how we can have more female-only events because there’s this huge drop in female attendance from high school to college,” Gibbons said.

Luciani added: “In general, women are always less represented in the sporting context, and so you can see it in a mixed football match that I organize that I will be the only woman or me and someone else. ‘other and people want to see more women there.

After the game I’m too tired to tackle Luciani’s quick lap or even recount the two embarrassing occasions where I was muscular. Conversations around me unfold as new and old friends discuss previous and future games.

“There was actually this funny story [about] those two guys taking a bike trip from Mexico City to Canada; Toronto was their very last stop, ”says Luciani. “They have driven 3,500 kilometers in a month and I’m out in the field playing a pickup game hosted by OpenSports at the back of campus one night… these two guys are coming to the field and they’re not even wearing proper football gear, but they’re good enough. And so afterwards the lights go out and I hang out with them a bit and I hear about their story and it’s amazing that they got here, their whole journey is about sport, inclusion and diversity and they saw that perfectly manifested over there on the ground at U of T. ”

USFantasy to Launch Fantasy Sports App in Nevada Soon

By Sports app
[toc]United StatesFantasy Sports, a daily fantasy sports mutual betting style, is set to launch a mobile betting app in Nevada after less than a year of operation. The mobile application should be released in Nevada in the coming months.

The USFantasy app, on the way

The app is designed so that the company can deploy it in other states that may offer USFantasy in the future. Currently, USFantasy operates in Nevada and in Colorado under Mile High Fantasy. When released, the app will only be usable in Nevada.

USFantasy is currently building and testing its application behind the scenes. USFantasy plans to submit to Nevada Gaming Control Board for approval shortly.

Once approved by the NCGB, it is expected to be released to the public for a live field trial. Customers can use the app, but there will be additional eyes to the process behind the scenes to make sure everything is working properly.

The USFantasy app is created in-house and will feature the same DFS pari-mutuel contests that appear in casinos. This application will only be used by USFantasy contests. Sports bettors will continue to use sports betting apps for traditional sports betting.

The product will be white label so that casinos and other neighborhoods can offer the applications themselves with their own brand. For example, Mile High Fantasy in Colorado can publish the app with its own custom branding. In Nevada, participating casinos may offer their own personalized USFantasy app.

Currently, residents of Nevada can only play USFantasy select casinos. Players wishing to go mobile will need to create a separate mobile sports betting account for USFantasy.

Once released, customers can have up to three mobile betting accounts on a single sports betting site, including traditional sports betting, horse racing, and USFantasy. NGCB and sports betting operators have been studying this issue for over a year in the hope of combine all bets on one account. Unfortunately there is no target date for that to happen.

USFantasy is exploring different ways to fund and potentially cash out mobile accounts.

Features of the USFantasy application

From the start, the USFantasy application will be able to work in wifi. When applications using miomni software was first released, it didn’t work over wifi. This was a major problem for many sports bettors. Fortunately, the problem has been fixed and USFantasy will not have this problem.

One of the best features of the app will be the ability to view recent performance from past players. The application will allow you to retrieve recent games from each player. This is a great option for doing quick player searches without closing the app.

Although the app is different from the website, you will see some of the best features of USFantasy.com. The app will show how much money each pool has and the respective results of the pools.

Fantastic pari-mutuel sports

USFantasy is different from traditional DFS. The pari-mutuel style bet is a hybrid of DFS and horse racing betting. Player pools are made available daily and bettors can choose “Win”, “place” or “show”. Bettors can also place exotic bets like exactas (1st and 2nd place) and trifectas (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) for bigger gains.

DFS operators must obtain a gaming license to operate in Nevada. DraftKings, FanDuel, and others decided not to get a license. Not all traditional DFS companies operate in Nevada. Regulations are unlikely to change in Nevada in the near future.

LaLiga signs football deal with Fantasy Sports Ballr app

By Sports app
[toc]The first division of Spanish football, The leagueannounced a deal with a fantasy sports app, Ballerthis week.

It’s one of the biggest deals for a sport outside North America regarding a foray into fantasy sports. The European tour for golf and everyday fantasy sports site Play on entered a affair in 2016.

The deal for LaLiga and Ballr

LaLiga have announced that they have reached a sponsorship agreement with Baller “to develop a digital game over the next three years.”

Ballr is not like typical daily fantasy sports sites and apps, as there are no entry fees for players. But users choose players and compete to win prizes through the platform. It seems to have some “in-game” fancy elements in that users can make changes or choose players mid-game.

More from LaLiga and Ballr on the deal:

“This agreement with Ballr is a great opportunity for LaLiga fans to connect via digital media and it is also a fantastic way for them to connect with LaLiga Santander, said La Liga president Javier Tebas. As he has explained on other occasions, LaLiga wants to be close to its fans and that’s why efforts are being made in various areas to give them that extra edge during matches.

“LaLiga is committed to improving the fan experience and Ballr shares these values with us, which is why we want to build a three-year sponsorship relationship together,” explained Adolfo Bara, General Manager of Sales, Marketing and of LaLiga sponsorship.

“With a global audience of 2.5 billion people in more than 180 countries, LaLiga is one of the best sports competitions in the world. At Ballr, we are confident that this agreement will help us achieve our goal of connecting the world through to live sports,” added Sam Jones, CEO of Ballr.

Ballr’s story

Founded in 2015, the company has focused mainly on Asian markets so far. Including Indonesia and Thailand. Last year, Ballr announced a partnership with Manchester City of the English Premier League. The company said in 2016 that it had raised $4 million in seed capital.

According to Ballr’s website, “The app will be launched in Asia in February 2017 and will cover all EPL matches. Other major leagues will be added in 2017 including La Liga, Serie A, CSL and La Ligue HAS. “

Interestingly, the site’s domain was once owned by a now-defunct DFS carrier that served the United States.

Many approaches to DFS outside of North America

There are currently a variety of different ways operators are trying to implement DFS in Europe, beyond Ballr’s free-to-play model. DFS has not imposed itself there as a consumer product:

  • DraftKings, FanDuel and yahoo all ported versions of their North American product to the UK.
  • DFS platforms such as Oulala, Mondobut and World Daily Fantasy Sports are in partnership with existing online gambling and sports betting operators, or attempt to do so.
  • PokerStars has just rolled out its own version of a proprietary DFS platform, BetStarsJackpots.

Which will work, if any? Or is there room for more than one type of fantastic product? We are still far from learning the answer to these questions.

Phillies game available to stream this season via the NBC Sports app

By Sports app

Fans can now watch the Phillies on the go via the NBC Sports app

TV ratings are dropping across the board and businesses are looking for ways to extend their reach and prevent people from “cutting the cord” at home. Last year, NBC began streaming Flyers and Sixers games online and through the NBC Sports app for those with a qualifying TV subscription at no additional cost.

Starting this season, you can watch the Phillies anywhere you go through the NBC website and app.

In a press release revealed on Thursday, NBC announced plans to expand its streaming options for local markets.

NBC Sports Regional Networks today announced an agreement with MLBAM to broadcast MLB games in the local market, as well as pre and postgame programming, starting with the 2017 regular season. Streaming offering is available at no additional cost to authenticated pay television subscribers of NBC Sports Group’s CSN Regional Sports Networks (RSNs). This local initiative advances NBCUniversal’s implementation of “TV Everywhere,” which strives to make quality content available to authenticated customers both in and out of the home, and across multiple platforms.

The addition of MLB Authenticated Market Streaming completes NBC Sports’ local streaming portfolio for regional networks, which also includes local live streaming of the NBA and NHL. The RSNs first introduced NBA streaming in 2014 and announced the addition of streaming to the NHL market last fall, starting with the 2016-17 season.

NBC Sports regional networks now have market streaming partnerships of the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, San Jose Sharks, San Francisco Giants and Oakland A (CSN Bay Area / CSN California); Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox (CSN Chicago); Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals (CSN Mid-Atlantic); Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Phillies (CSN Philadelphia); and Boston Celtics (CSN New England).

This keeps anyone traveling or living on the West Coast from paying too much for MLB.TV, which I have found to be quite unreliable. You will also be able to watch the games through a streaming device, such as an Apple TV or an Amazon Fire Stick.

As someone who currently lives outside the grip of the Philadelphia media market, having not only Philadelphia baseball but all the major sports available is a huge plus. It’s just as convenient for those who travel constantly or can’t be home for a game.

Considering the amount invested in the $ 2.5 billion Phillies TV deal with Comcast SportsNet, the ability to expand advertising beyond regional boundaries alone is a major benefit to all parties.

Sports app helps education foundation

By Sports app

– Support the Sparta Education Foundation (SEF) by downloading FireFan, a free mobile sports app that will donate funds to the Foundation when you play. Players can register on www.firefan.com by entering the code “SEF”. They earn free chips by watching advertisements which are used to play games. The app tracks NFL games in real time, including the season playoffs and the upcoming 51st Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5.
“The FireFan app is even more fun to use as the Super Bowl approaches,” said Danielle Dykstra, President of the SEF. “The principle is simple: the more people we have who register with our code, play the game and watch advertisements, the more money we can raise for public schools in Sparta. Just go to www.firefan.com and type in “SEF” to sign up and you can watch the biggest showdown of the season in the NFL.
Three winners who pre-registered for the FireFan app included Ellen Anderson who won an Apple Watch, Olivia Giralt, winner of the Beats Solo2 Luxe headset and Aiden Ryan, recipient of a $ 100 gift certificate to Krogh’s. The Apple Watch and gift certificate were donated by Andy Garger, Beats headphones by Christian Blendinger, and banners for the event by Garger, Blendinger and Rob Daly. Each is a resident of Sparta and a partner of the company Play4YourCause, the company which pays donations from users of the FireFan application directly to SEF.
The FireFan app allows users to predict real-time results on match day with a series of game-related questions about which team will win, who will win the toss or how many yards will be gained in the next game . Players who predict correctly can redeem their loyalty points for merchandise like hats, jerseys, or match tickets. FireFan will initially follow NFL games, and sports will change over the seasons to include basketball, professional football, and baseball. Every time a player watches an advertisement and plays a game, money is collected for SEF.
The Sparta Education Foundation strengthens public schools, supports teachers and inspires students. Since 2006, they have donated over $ 775,000 in grants to the five public schools in Sparta. The Foundation is an independent, non-profit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to engage the entire community in philanthropic giving. FanDuel Powers New NBA In-Game Fantasy Sports App Called ‘InPlay’

By Sports app
[toc]the NBA improves his game on everyday fantasy sports, with a little help from FanDuel.

The league unveiled a fantasy game based on NBA games called Stake Thursday. It seems to be the development of a product called FanDuel Turbo which was never officially launched. The NBA has a equity participation in FanDuel.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the viewing experience, get people to listen to our shows, and increase the time spent watching live games,” said Melissa Rosenthal Brenner, NBA senior vice president, digital media, in a press release about the launch. “NBA InPlay has the potential to achieve these goals while providing our fans with an engaging new way to experience the game.”

The product is live Thursday evening for a pair of games on TNT:

  • Los Angeles Lakers at Miami Heat, 8 p.m. EST
  • San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers, 10:30 p.m. EST

The NBA and In-Game Fantasy at a Glance

The NBA calls InPlay a “new real-time mobile fantasy game that uses state-of-the-art technology powered by FanDuel to sync with national live streams of NBA games.”

InPlay will be available for all NBA games broadcast on national networks:

Here’s how the games work, according to the NBA:

Every game broadcast on TNT, NBA TV, ESPN and ABC offers the option to play by launching the app to enter a public contest or create a private game with friends. For each game broadcast, users select their favorite team.

The user then chooses a player per quarter and accumulates points based on the player’s performance (points, rebounds, assists, etc.). Each quarter, users can strategically activate four “turbo boosts” that last 48 seconds and exponentially multiply point totals for selected players.

Unlike traditional fantasy games, NBA InPlay users’ success is directly tied to watching live NBA games and making real-time in-game decisions in order to win.

Here is a demo:

Learn more about NBA InPlay

InPlay is obviously not played with real money entry fees, like the base FanDuel DFS product, due to legal uncertainty in a wide range of US jurisdictions. Prizes will be awarded for the contests — with grand prizes including $35,000 Autotrader credit (Autotrader is sponsoring the game) and tickets to the NBA Finals — later in the season, according to the NBA.

InPlay is available in all 50 states and Washington, DC, for users 13 and older. You can find it at google play and the App store.

The FanDuel part of the equation

The fan engagement provided by DFS is something professional sports leagues appreciate; it gives people a reason to care more about games and tune in to shows. But it still has its limitations and is a passive form of engagement during actual games.

The notion of fantasy in the game is one that has been trying to gain traction over the past couple of years, with entries from Fantasy Boom, WinView Games and ringit! by iPro, among others. The fantasy in the game gives users and fans a reason to constantly engage with real-world sporting events.

“Our mission is to provide sports fans with exciting new ways to engage with the players and teams they love, through innovative sports entertainment products,” said Tom Griffiths, co-founder and product manager, FanDuel. “NBA InPlay is the first product of its kind and we are proud to partner with the NBA to bring fans a revolutionary new way to enjoy the live viewing experience.”

FanDuel has been working on an iteration of this product for some time, based on the realization of FanDuel Turbo last year.

With the merge in progress between FanDuel and DraftKings, it will be interesting to see if the relationship that the latter has with the NHL and major league baseball will be used in the same way. DraftKings also offers a sports and fantasy content app called DKLive which launched earlier this year.

DraftKings Launches New Live Sports App: DK Live

By Sports app
[toc]DraftKings has already dabbled in the content of daily fantastic sports, in addition to running his own contests.

This effort has gotten more serious with the recent launch of a new mobile app – DK Live – a product separate from its platform and its DFS application.

DK Live at a glance

DK Live is billed as the digital and fantastic version of “NFL RedZone” by DraftKings. CEO of DraftKings Jason robin unveiled DK Live at TechCrunch Disruption in San Francisco today.

“Our team built DK Live with the fantastic player in mind, creating an experience that’s right for every fan and connecting them to the content that matters most to them,” Robins said in a press release. “DK Live is our latest way to give sports fans the best technology and experience by eliminating frantic screen hopping between different apps and websites on game day. “

Currently, the new offering is available for iOS in the App Store, with plans to eventually launch a Android version. The app is powered largely by data provided by STATS LLC, which DraftKings also uses for its core app.

Zoom on DK Live

The app is not necessarily revolutionary in the idea that it provides sports information to fans, although the app outperforms other fantasy-based apps in its ability to provide information based on what a DFS player wants to see.

“The goal for us is really to have the experience of sweating your lineups and your sports media consumption beyond DraftKings,” Corey gottlieb, vice president of content at DraftKings, told Legal Sports Report in a product demo.

What’s in the app?

  • Strong points: A filterable section allows users to see every red zone play, touchdown, turnover and gain over 20 yards for live games.
  • Notes: Users can see all game scores including a game’s scoreboards to follow a game feed for individual games.
  • News: The news section includes the latest player news and injury updates from Twitter, RotoWire and FantasyLabs, among other news sources. DK Live also builds on a relationship with Inside Injuries, which analyzes the impact of injuries.

The coolest thing about DK Live: DraftKings users can customize the app based on their fantastic lineup for that week. Users who also have the DraftKings app can filter information so that they only receive information relevant to their fantastic queues.

“This is the real differentiator for us, for a DraftKings user,” said Gottlieb. “It all has to do with the players you made decisions about when you were drafting. “

Will people adopt DK live?

DK Live intends to be a one-stop-shop for everyday fantasy football players, allowing them to easily consume information for any players and teams they want, fantasy sports related or not.

“We think it’s a perfect second screen for people who watch games live and for people who are trying to follow their players,” said Gottlieb.

However, the application is separate from the traditional DraftKings application, where players can assemble queues, enter contests, and track their performance against other DFS players in those contests.

Yet DFS users often still use two or more apps or websites to track sports – the app (s) for their DFS competitions and a sports app / website. Gottlieb argues that no product on the market is aimed so much at the DFS user, with the fantastic level of customization available on DK Live. This gives it a head start as a potential sports source, at least for DFS players.

Can DK Live make a dent in a space already filled with a myriad of apps providing real-time sports information? If DraftKings and other users find it different and useful enough, that potential exists.

Penn State students create pick-up sports app, hope it will curb pick-up game mayhem | University Park Campus News

By Sports app

Three Penn State students have created a pick-up sports app that could make aimless texting friends looking for a pick-up game a thing of the past.

Farabi Sameer (junior aerospace engineer) said the idea for First Pick — an app Sameer, Dilanka Dharmasena and Patrick O’Connor created this spring to organize sports matches on campus — came to them when they were trying to play football in the rain last year.

“You can play football in the rain, but do you really want to walk two miles in the rain only to find no one else showed up?” Samir said.

He wanted a way that he could make a game and anyone could tell he was from a smartphone.

The app, which allows users to create games on different terrains and click “in” if they want to attend, went live in mid-July.

Sameer pitched his idea to his Entrepreneurial Mindset (MGMT 215) class instructor, Richard Weyer. He approached Weyer after the first class and asked for advice on how to start the project.

“[Weyer] pretty much helped me with the business side ever since,” Sameer said.

Sameer met Dharmasena (second year computer science student) through a mutual friend in October 2015, and they started conceiving the app design. Sameer and Dharmasena realized they might need more help with the project, so Dharmasena invited O’Connor (a sophomore in computer science) to join the team in the winter of 2016.

All three received help from Penn State through the Summer Founders program. According to its website, the program aims for students to commit full-time to working on a business or product idea over the summer without doing an internship.

The program gives six companies funding of $10,000 each to work on their project for a 10-week period from late May to early August, Sameer said.

“We were one of six recipients out of 60 groups that applied,” Sameer said.

The app’s simple interface – which is still being tested and fine-tuned – has already attracted more than 300 users, Dharmasena said. One such user, Christian Pozotrigo (Junior Energy Engineer), said the app takes all the guesswork out of finding games.

With this app, Pozotrigo said he knows exactly when people are getting together, rather than just going to the fields and hoping there’s a pick-up game to join.

“Before we had this app, I didn’t know where there was a game to see if the grass was booked by other people, but with First Pick, it’s now solved,” said Jianyi Li (graduate student in mechanical engineering). “It works every time.”

Sameer said the only type of publicity they did for the app was going to the fields and asking people to try it.

“Word of mouth has been really successful so far,” Dharmasena said.

Now that the fall semester has begun, Sameer said he eventually wants to create targeted Facebook advertising or distribute flyers.

Dharmasena hopes to have as many people as possible using the app on campus by the end of the school year and perhaps even partner with off-campus organizations. “You can pretty much use [First Pick] anywhere,” Sameer said.

The trio hope to expand to other college campuses in the future.

Yahoo Sports is emphasizing Major League Baseball (MLB) live streams on its rebuilt mobile app with a host of new features.

As part of its latest update, the completely redesigned app now features a personalized live streaming guide that helps you find and connect to services that stream MLB games. Additionally, Yahoo Sports will allow you to watch selected broadcasts of the game of the day during the current MLB season live on your iOS or Android device.

Now when you open the app, you will see a “Watch” button next to the games with streaming options on the “Schedule” page. Select the game you want to watch and you’ll be taken to its details page, where you’ll find a “Watch Now” button that tells you where it’s streaming. Yahoo says the app manages complex rights and blackout restrictions to show you only the live streaming options available to you. Also, for mobile streaming fans, if a game is labeled “Live on Yahoo”, that means you can watch it directly on the game’s details page. It’s not just baseball fans who benefit from live action, Yahoo also currently broadcasts four NHL games per week, which can be viewed on the app.

Apart from visual content, Yahoo Sports offers news and updates from all major sports leagues. Sports fans can personalize their app experience by selecting their favorite teams and can receive notifications and updates. The app also features exclusive content from popular Yahoo Sports columnists such as Adrian Wojnarowski, Dan Wetzel and Pat Forde.

“We’re thrilled to say that the days of scouring the internet to find where your live sports are streamed are a thing of the past,” Parker Emmott, director of product management at Yahoo, says in a Tumblr post. “Starting today with MLB, our completely redesigned Yahoo Sports app now features a guide to finding and streaming live baseball games.”

Despite a major transition following its recent acquisition by Verizon, Yahoo remains committed to refreshing its products in an effort to keep pace with its rivals. Like other web giants such as Twitter and Facebook, Yahoo stepped up its live streaming game this year – first acquiring the live streaming rights to 180 MLB games, then launching a free Hulu streaming service. in the form of Yahoo View.

NBC Sports app no longer supports games on Windows 10 and Xbox

By Sports app

nbc-sports-app

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2016/17 Premier League season began with a blow on opening day when Microsoft Windows 10 and Xbox One users discovered they couldn’t use the NBC app Sports to watch the most exciting football league in the world.

The NBC Sports app, formerly known as NBC Sports Live Extra, allows football fans in the United States to stream every game of the Premier League season on computers, smartphones, game consoles, Roku and other devices over the top. The NBC Sports app was recently updated to work on Windows 10. However, the NBC Sports app for Windows 10 and Xbox One does not work for Premier League games, although it does work for Olympic coverage.

On the opening day of the season, football fans unable to watch Premier League games with the NBC Sports app flocked to social media to express their frustration at not being able to watch their favorite team online. Windows 10 software works on personal computers, but also on tablets and the Xbox One game console. The NBC Sports app, however, works on Windows 10 mobile.

According to an NBC Sports spokesperson, Premier League coverage on the NBC Sports app does not support Windows 10 and Xbox One platforms, but they are working to do so in the future.

The news that an update is in the works will not appease many fans who expect the NBC Sports app to be fixed as soon as possible, especially since the Olympics will not be completed before the end of August and that NBC Sports has not given a date when to expect the application to be fixed for the Premier League.

nbc-sports-app-microsoft

The fact that the NBC Sports app does not support Windows 10 and Xbox One is ironic given that one of NBC’s sponsors (see screenshot above) during Premier League coverage is Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which runs Windows 10.

Solutions? One recommendation is that Windows 10 and/or Xbox One users consider purchasing a Roku stick, which can be purchased for $40. As long as you subscribe to NBCSN and CNBC through your TV provider, you’ll be able to watch the games on your Roku (and on your TV). The alternative is to hope that your favorite team will be shown on TV and/or in Premier League overtime so you don’t miss a game.

You can also buy a Google Chromecast ($35), plug it into your Xbox One HDMI, download the NBC Sports app to your phone, then connect and stream your phone’s games to your Xbox One console.

The last option is to check if the old NBC Sports Live Extra app is installed on your Windows 10 computer. If so, it should be able to play Premier League games instead of the NBC Sports App version.

JetBet launches social sports app with men’s lifestyle brand Maxim

By Sports app

GamesBeat Summit 2022 returns with its biggest event for gaming leaders from April 26-28. Book your spot here!

[Updated 8:14 am 11/23/15: Fixed terms related to betting].

JetBet today announces the launch of its social sports technology in partnership with men’s lifestyle brand Maxim, which is also unveiling its Maxim Sports Live website.

Above: Louis Castle of Live-Bet Sports

Real-time technology allows sports fans to predict sporting events as they happen in a “second screen” experience. The first website (with Facebook and pending mobile apps) targets NFL football fans, which is a big market as 16.2 million viewers watch every NFL game.

Las Vegas-based JetBet, founded by video game pioneer Louis Castle, has created a way for sports fans to test their knowledge – but not bet real money in exchange for real money winnings – on every game in a sporting event in real time.

Maxim’s first product is a free website, where players can pay real money to participate in tournaments, but cannot cash out any winnings. Instead, they can earn points that give them bragging rights. Players get free virtual currency for making predictions, but if they run out or want to play in bigger tournaments, they can buy more with real money.

“We’re focused on the competitive fun of predicting sports game by game,” Castle said in an email.

JetBet allows you to bet on sports games in real time.

Maxim Sports Live will allow sports fans to make predictions, demonstrate their knowledge and share their passion for their teams in real time during live sports events via the app on mobile devices. You can predict just about anything that you think will happen next in a game. Maxim will present Maxim Sports Live as an intuitive experience for players of all levels, and it will include a chat function to discuss games and banter with rivals.

“Maxim has built the leading men’s lifestyle brand by understanding the pulse of his audience,” Castle, CEO and co-founder of JetBet, said in a statement. “We are very pleased to be their partner in bringing real-time social sports to tens of millions of fans around the world.”

Castle, who has three decades of experience in video games and is known as the co-founder of Westwood Studios (which was acquired by Electronic Arts) also has experience in real-money gambling. He was a board member of tabletop game maker Shuffle Master (SHFL Entertainment). After that, he served as its chief strategy officer before its $1.3 billion sale in 2014 to slots giant Bally Technologies.

He was inspired to create JetBet after seeing a demo of Metric Gaming’s live data analytics, which focuses on real-money gambling. He saw the opportunity to create a free game based on technology. So he got a license for sports analytics from Metric and approached Bellwether to get a license for the social casino platform. Then he hired staff to create a custom app that could make watching live sports more exciting with a free gaming experience that didn’t involve real-money gambling.

Castle said in an email that the company is not an “everyday fantasy sports” startup, where rivals allow players to build sports teams and then bet on their performance on the playing field. There is controversy over whether these apps are legal skill-based games or constitute real-money gambling, as claimed by the New York State Attorney General.

JetBet and Maxim are play-by-play actions, and they are not focused on replicating everyday fantasy sports betting. Instead, we focus on free play for the bragging rights experience. Tournaments offer nothing but bragging rights, and if players ever receive actual prizes, they would be for playing, not as a prize for a particular successful prediction, Castle said. He said he considers JetBet Predictions to be a skill-based game, not a chance-based betting experience.

JetBet’s technology is based on Metric Gaming, which combines human and computer analysis to set the odds for each prediction. Live event data feeds into Metric Gaming analytics. Bellwether’s socially scalable casino platform delivers game prediction options to mobile devices of all kinds using HTML5, the lingua franca of the web. The broadcast event delay loop allows JetBet to follow the action from second to second and is often even a few seconds ahead of the broadcast. Millions of people can play at the same time, according to JetBet

The company was founded in 2014 and has 11 employees. Competing sites include other daily fantasy sports sites where players hang out at sporting events.

JetBet investors include Castle, Metric Gaming, Bellwether and other private investors. To date, the company has raised $700,000, with another $300,000 committed.

Live streaming, real-time scores and merchandising

By Sports app

Fancred started as a social network for sports fans, a place where people could share photos of games and talk about the mess of rival teams. But, like Facebook and Twitter when they got big, the 3-year-old platform has bigger ambitions. He wants to be the next global sports media company. That plan starts rolling into place on Wednesday, when Fancred adds live video and real-time game scores to its mobile apps and website, and that’s just the beginning.

Fancred might just be the first sports app with a Periscope-like live-streaming feature. Anyone can stream on the app, although there is a 5 minute limit. This cap serves two purposes: it gives the person time to broadcast to call out the worst play in the game, provide a window into the action on the field, or show a brief scene from the tailgating party. And if you’re a viewer watching the stream, you know how long you have to wait to catch the ending. It’s not an opportunity for people to stream entire games to their subscribers, which is a problem Periscope has faced.

Fancred

“Fans always want to rant, fans want to shout their opinions and do the Monday morning quarterback,” Fancred CEO Kash Razzaghi said. “We believe it will be a place where sports personalities are born.”

While anyone can live stream, Fancred realizes that sports fans want to see expert video commentary. It partners with dozens of media companies and sports teams to create what are essentially mini TV shows that stream live within the app. Mashable, the boston globeSportswriters from and Mississippi State University teams are all on board with Fancred live streams, with more to come.

Fans won’t be able to comment on shows, like they can on other apps. Instead, Fancred will offer upvote and downvote options to keep the community civil.

The other new feature, live scores, is something the sports app has never offered before. Fancred launches real-time game information with NFL scores before rolling out stats for all major leagues across all sports.

“We’re going to be giving out super fast, up-to-the-minute personalized scores for fans who want to follow their teams,” Razzaghi said. “We want Fancred to be useful to you even if you’re not super active on social media.”

The new Fancred is organized into three feeds: your main activity feed from people you follow on the platform, such as teams, journalists or other fans; a stream for live streams currently on air; and a stream for real-time scores. The platform will soon add tabs for commerce, so fans can buy tickets or in-app merchandising, and a personalized news feed with original editorial content created exclusively for Fancred.

It’s a bold move to try and compete in a space where Facebook and Twitter dominate, but Fancred is betting big on its community of passionate sports fans to spread the word. For people who don’t want to deal with the social aspect of a social network, Fancred’s new features are great. Being able to open a separate sports app to catch a live broadcast during a commercial break or check the score at work is a drama-free way to stay connected while gaming without getting into a family Facebook war.

Comcast bolsters the X1 Sports app with an Xbox One-like fantasy football sidebar

By Sports app

Comcast customers with the X1 platform have access to a new “Football Companion”.

Comcast today announced a new feature for the X1 Sports app that lets fans see fantastic real-time stats, player comparisons, injury reports and more with a sidebar on the right side of your screen. TV screen.

Comcast-App-Pats(Speaking of Tom Brady, the Pats quarterback had his 4-game “Deflategate” suspension overturned today by a federal judge)

This means you can watch live game action – or other programming – while stats and other football-related information are updated in real time on the right side of your screen.

The feature is quite similar to what Microsoft is offering with its own NFL app on Xbox One, which lets you “click” the app on the right side of the screen and see stats and scores while watching live TV. direct.

nflappmicrosoftxbox

As more and more people use second screens while watching live matches to access fantasy football stats, news and other related information, companies like Microsoft and Comcast are trying to provide everything in one place. .

Comcast added more features to its X1 Sports app in July, including the ability to “auto-extend” DVR recordings when games exceed a scheduled airtime. It’s also testing a way to allow customers to easily skip to key highlights while watching recorded sporting events.

Yahoo brings real money to its fantasy sports app

By Sports app
The new Fantasy Sports feature allows users to play daily games, instead of contests that last an entire sports season.

Screenshot by CNET

Yahoo hopes to score points by expanding its already popular Fantasy Sports app.

The internet giant announced on Wednesday that it will host daily and weekly fantasy sports games where users can place real bets. Previously, Yahoo’s service only offered one-season contests.

In fantasy sports, users assemble a team of basketball, football, or baseball players and then earn points based on how well those players perform in real-life games. Yahoo is already a top brand in the world of fantasy sports providers, alongside companies like ESPN and CBS. (CBS is the parent company of CNET.)

Yahoo has good reason to push further into fantasy sports. Viewership for the hobby grew 40% last year, with more than 56 million people playing in the United States and Canada, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. The average player also spends $465 a year on contest fees, according to the trade association.

Fantasy sports have been a beacon of hope for Yahoo, with CEO Marissa Mayer still working to turn the struggling company around. Since taking the helm three years ago, Mayer has tried to remake the company for the mobile age as consumers spend more time on their smartphones and tablets than on desktops and laptops. . But while it revamped all of Yahoo’s mobile apps and services — from Yahoo Mail to Weather to Finance — the company still faces declining revenue.

With its new feature, Yahoo hopes to capitalize on the growing popularity of daily contests. Fanduel, which also offers daily fantasy sports games, has the support of top investors like NBC Sports and the NBA. DraftKings, another rival, reportedly secured an investment from ESPN owner Disney, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Adding daily games will help Yahoo’s app appeal to “modern fans,” Simon Khalaf, Yahoo’s senior vice president of product and engineering, said in a statement.

For now, Yahoo’s daily contests focus only on Major League Baseball, but the company will add other sports at the start of their professional seasons. At launch, entry into daily games ranges from $1 or $5 or as low as $250. Prizes for winners can reach $50,000.

CBS Sports App Launches on Apple TV, But Without Live Streaming…Yet

By Sports app

CBS Sports just joined Apple TV this week. It joins 120 Sports, ACC, ESPN, MLB.TV, MLS, NBA, NBC Sports, NFL Now, NHL, Tennis Channel and WWE Network for sports content on the set-top box. However, for most other apps, CBS’s app is more of a short-form clip channel and there’s no live streaming.

CBS has the rights to college basketball and football games, specifically SEC football, the NCAA Tournament, NFL (AFC Sunday Afternoon and Thursday Night Football), PGA Tour as well as The Masters and PGA Championship. It has the rights to stream most of its content online as it has done on CBS Sports’ mobile and tablet apps. And while it didn’t air regular-season NFL games, it opted to upload post-season NFL games, including Super Bowl XLVII from New Orleans.

The CBS Sports Apple TV app does not have live streaming of CBS Sports Network programming because so far the network has not launched a “TV Everywhere” initiative unlike ESPN, Fox and NBC. There are music videos from Boomer & Carton, Doug Gottlieb and the now-defunct ROME, as well as original content including some fantastic information, but at least for now there’s no live programming.

Marc DeBevoise, executive vice president and general manager of sports, entertainment and news for CBS Interactive, told Awful Annoncing that while there are no live events on Apple TV and Roku apps from CBS Sports, that doesn’t mean there will be. t be long term. “We have nothing to announce at this time,” DeBevoise said, but said CBS is open to streaming events on the road. Reading the tea leaves, expect to see SEC Football and other games down the line, possibly as early as this fall.

DeBevoise said CBS can broadcast live events on its platforms, it’s just a matter of finding the right way to do it. He notes that unlike the NBC and ESPN apps, authentication is not required for CBS.

So as it stands, the CBS Sports app is not streaming live, but we’ll keep you posted on any changes.

The Live-Bet sports application allows you to bet on the next match of a football match

Gambling veteran Louis Castle is launching a game dubbed Live-Bet, a free web application that allows players to bet virtual currency on live football matches. In the Live-Bet application, players predict what will happen in a football match, and then they immediately find out whether they guessed correctly or not.

The HTML5 web application is launched just in time for the Super Bowl. It’s not a real money gambling app, but it could be used for that at some point in the future. In this social sports game, you bet virtual currency and you can do so hundreds of times in a single soccer match. Life-Bet immediately measures how competitive you are on the leaderboards against your friends.

Tens of millions of people watch football games, especially for the Super Bowl, which airs on Sunday, February 1. And many of those players say they would support legislation to legalize NFL gambling. But Live-Bet does not have to wait for this legalization since you do not win real money in the game.

“I chose to do the free play space because I think a lot of people will enjoy the experience but probably won’t be gamers,” Castle told GamesBeat.

The startup, Live-Bet Sports in Las Vegas, is led by former Westwood Studios gambling veteran Louis Castle. The app can resolve bets in real time using technology from Metric Gaming, a Las Vegas company that provides real-time tracking technology not only for Live-Bet Sports but also for real-money gaming companies in Europe. Castle is the chairman of Metric Gaming and he also runs Live-Bet Sports.

Live-Bet is a free live sports betting platform that gives players bragging rights. Players who top the leaderboards can win real money gifts. Players receive enough free currency to participate in entry-level tournaments, and they can work their way into bigger tournaments where the giveaways are bigger.

Metric Gaming has created analytics and uses human/professional odds makers. The HTML5 app works on iOS and Android devices, including smartphones, tablets, and web browsers. Players can log in via Facebook. But there is no specific iOS or Android app yet since the company has decided not to release an app for a single football game yet.

The company has raised $700,000 in funding and an additional $300,000 has been committed against a valuation of $3 million, Castle said. Investors include Castle, Metric Gaming, Bellwether (a social casino platform maker) and other private investors.

Rivals include makers of fantasy football apps or live event apps. These include FanDuel, Draft Kings and King of the Hill Sports. King of the Hill Sports offers a similar live betting concept, but Live-Bet offers what it calls “real odds” driven by an analytics engine and odds builder.

Data scored at live events is fed into Metric Gaming’s analytics engine, which offers a human market maker bets that he can show players in real time. Bellwether’s social casino platform streams bets to mobile devices of all kinds using HTML5.

Castle said he saw a demonstration of Metric Gaming’s technology and was intrigued by how it could make the sport more fun to watch.

“I saw the entertainment potential, giving me an experience that made me lean into the screen,” Castle said. “You get a constantly engaged feeling.”

Castle has over 30 years of experience in video games. He was co-founder of Westwood Studios, managing director of Electronic Arts’ Black Box Studios, and CEO of Instant Action. He was CEO of Zynga and a longtime board member of Shuffle Master. He then served as Chief Strategy Officer for Shuffle Master before orchestrating the sale of the company to Bally in 2014. He consults in video games and casino games.

Metric Gaming has 25 full-time employees and 60 contractors. Live-Bet has five people.

“We can do other sports besides football, but we’re not announcing any yet,” Castle said.

Yahoo updates the Sports app to turn game highlights into GIFs

By Sports app

Yahoo today released a new version of its Sports app that has been redesigned for iOS 7 with a particular focus on GIFs. Yahoo Sports GIFs, which it calls Loops, take short snippets of game highlights and allow users to overlay text. They can then share their creations with the community, with the GIF appearing in a feed on the game’s main results page. “We have a tradition around creativity and empowering Tumblr and Flickr creators,” says Josh Schwarzapel , senior product manager for mobile and emerging products. “We took that mindset and applied it to the sport.”

Buckles are available for professional football, baseball, basketball and hockey, as well as college football and baseball. Yahoo uses technology from its IntoNow acquisition to record highlights from almost any TV sports game, so GIF creators can quickly scan through a game’s play to find the moment they want to highlight. .

Yahoo uses IntoNow’s technology to record highlights of almost any TV play

Loops are the biggest new feature in the Sports app, which Yahoo says is used by millions of people every day. A redesign for iOS 7 gives the app a flatter, more image-heavy look, in line with the company’s other recent redesigns. Player stats now include a prominent photo of the player, for example, and the app pulls gaming articles from the web and places them on the game results page.

The update will likely be good news for app users, although loops seem a little harder to find than they should. If you are not taken directly to the game results screen from a push notification, you must first select the sport, then the game you are looking for, then scroll down to see the GIFs . But it’s a creative step by Yahoo that makes the app more visually appealing — and shows another way the company’s acquisitions have begun to pollinate its app lineup.

Yahoo packs fantastic sports games into new mobile sports app

By Sports app

Yahoo has launched its new Fantasy Sports app for iOS and Android, which comes with a new redesign and mobile drafting. It’s the first app to incorporate technology from the company’s recent acquisitions, Bignoggins Productions and Loki Studios.

In a blog post, Yahoo’s product manager for Mobile Fantasy Sports, Ron Belmarch, writes that users can sign up, draft a team, and win the league championship wherever they are. The app also includes notifications to help fans stay informed about what’s going on with their favorite team.

The company says it recognizes Draft Day as one of the most important dates for fantasy football players. Updated app includes fictional writing capabilities to prepare users for the real thing – and it’s not only for football, as this feature will soon be implemented for basketball, hockey and baseball.

When the time comes, users (or managers, as they’re called) will be able to manage competition and get the players they want from whatever device they have. Mobile drafting allows them to pick players, set their lineup, check results, and even chat with other managers to perhaps plan a strategy or execute a trade.

Screenshot 2013-07-25 at 10.49.19 AM

This mobile app is the first since Yahoo acquired Bignoggins Production and Loki Studios earlier this year. Players should be able to see the integrations when using the Fantasy Sports app.

With Bignoggins Production, the technology behind its popular Fantasy Monster and Draft Monster apps has been used in the Fantasy Sports app. Yahoo acquired Loki Studios for its location-based mobile game offering.
