New program to simplify customs procedures for sporting events early next year

General Customs Authority (GAC) Chairman Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal said the authority has launched an integrated maintenance project for the Abu Samra border post, which will run until September. next year, to cover all the requirements of the tourism and trade sectors. before the start of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the second supply chain management conference on Tuesday, al-Jamal also revealed that the authority was about to launch a special program for the management of the supply chain. sporting events, the most important of which is the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. 2022, and declared it to be an exceptional program and considered the first of its kind in the organization and management of major sporting events.
He explained that the program, which will be officially announced early next year, will aim to simplify all customs procedures through a window in which all relevant authorities, inside and outside Qatar, will be processed in coordination with the Supreme Court. He added that the authority has a set of other new programs that will be announced on International Customs Day, which falls on January 26.
On the other hand, al-Jamal noted that the electronic services of the General Customs Authority are constantly evolving and customer service has become mainly electronic through the authority’s website or the Al Nadeeb system, which represents a qualitative leap for Customs in terms of using the best of modern technology for development, whether in devices or software, systems and databases.
He stressed the importance of the conference and said that after the global impact of Covid-19 had lessened, there was a growing global demand for goods and services. In this regard, he added, Qatar strives to secure supply and supply chains and meet all necessary needs in this regard through a set of strategic plans and continuous coordination. between the GAC and other relevant authorities, especially in light of the country’s future benefits, including the 2022 Qatar Football World Cup.
