National Equestrian Show Jumping Championship from Saturday in Mumbai

The National Equestrian Show Jumping Championship will start on Saturday at the Amateur Riders Club (ARC) at Mahalakshmi Racecourse in Mumbai, the national federation announced on Friday.

Athletes aged 14 and above will be eligible to compete in the seven-day event, the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) said in a statement.

Athletes from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata as well as the host city of Mumbai will participate in the annual event.

The competition will be divided into five categories: Novice, Grade III, Grade II, Grade I and Grand Prix.

Shyam Mehta, Chairman of the Amateur Riders Club (ARC) Mahalaxmi Racecourse, said: “In terms of precautions, we have made sure to adhere to all the rules and guidelines set out by the authorities. The safety of players, teams and staff is the top priority for us. We wish the best to all participants.” Col Jaiveer Singh, EFI General Secretary, said: ”The course designer for this championship is an FEI CD level 3 from Austria. For the first time ever, an NEC will be streamed live to our audiences around the world via an app.”
