Goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya will travel to Spain for a training camp with Marbella FC as part of his preparations for the upcoming Indian Super League. The goalkeeper, who played for SC Bengal last ISL, won the Golden Glove award in the 2020-21 season.
”I’m going to Marbella in Spain to train for a month. I will train with the club called Marbella FC. I had a conversation with their goalkeeping coach. He asked me for some video clips of my training to get an idea of how I train in Kolkata,’ Bhattacharya told ISL’s official website.
”I sent him press clippings of my training with some of the foreign coaches. After going through them, he asked me to go there and train with their first team,’ he added.
According to Bhattacharya, he applied for the visa and once he arrives he will leave for Spain.
The Marbella club plays in the fifth tier of Spanish football. The 32-year-old believes he would be comfortable with a Spanish setup.
”I have to prepare well. I asked my agents to organize something for better and proper training. They offered me to go to Marbella FC, where I could train properly with them. I have worked with many Spanish coaches back home. ”So I think I’ll be comfortable with a Spanish setup. I hope to prepare for it and come back with good form and a lot of confidence.
