Swiss Olympic officials on Tuesday urged the federal government to exempt athletes and international officials from new quarantine rules that threaten the organization of winter sports World Cup events.

People arriving from the growing number of countries on Switzerland’s red list must enter mandatory 10-day quarantine periods to protect themselves against COVID-19 and the aggressive variant of omicron.

The Red List now includes Canada, where female alpine skiers – including former World Cup champions Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States and Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland – are currently competing in Lake Louise. They are expected to travel to the side of Switzerland for two super-G races in the high end of St. Moritz.

“If travel restrictions and quarantine rules are maintained, the organization of international sporting events in Switzerland will be in danger, if not impossible,” said Jürg Stahl, chairman of the Swiss National Olympic Committee.

Switzerland is also expected to host cross-country skiing in Davos, ski jumping in Engelberg and ski cross races in Arosa over the next three weeks.

Swiss Olympic warned of the difficulties encountered by the current rules for athletes who “can no longer exercise their profession”, as well as for sports clubs and the economy at large, such as hotels and restaurants.

The Swiss economy has already been hit this week by the cancellation with less than two weeks notice of the 2021 Lucerne-based World University Winter Games.

Hundreds of athletes, coaches, officials and event staff were due to arrive for the competitions at several venues in central and eastern Switzerland.

Stahl said Swiss Olympic is keen to work with federal and local authorities to find solutions.

How to Watch Live Sports Matches Online

By Sports games

The world operates on many modes of entertainment and conversation, the power of sport of which we can never forget. Watching sports stimulates the brain in a positive way that can reshape the foundations of human society. Watching sport plays an important role on an individual level. It encourages people to stay active and alert. Watching sports is not limited to just one variation of it. Some might like to watch a cricket match; some might go ahead with exciting football, badminton or tennis. Whatever the sport, if you are an avid enthusiast, you will never like to miss the adrenaline rush.

The best experience comes from sitting in the stadium, watching your favorite athlete do their best. But this is not always possible. Experiencing a match while being physically present during the live action was a bit expensive and beyond our reach at the time. During such times, we all have a choice to watch it live on TV. But what about the times when even an ardent fan is taking care of housework, work, or maybe they’re stuck on a trip. Such doom scenarios could be well aided by the flourishing benefits of technology. You might be wondering what I’m talking about? Here i’m talking about how to watch sports matches live online.

A lot of noise

Did you notice anything? I’m talking about the dramatic shift in platform preferences that has occurred over the course of a decade. It used to be about waiting for the live broadcast on TVs, but now we can see how the growth in technology has strongly influenced the way we watch sport. How to Watch Live Sports Matches Online This can be a difficult task for many people, but here are some of the ways to stream a match live online:

  • From above (OTT): OTT or Over the top is one of the most recent technologies that allows live streaming of matches over the Internet. Previously, digital television content was broadcast over the Internet Protocol (IPTV). IPTV demanded several things which could create unwanted problems. A TV subscription, set-top box and some other technical steps to provide stable internet connectivity to every customer. Content has been restricted based on area availability. But with OTT, one could watch several sports channels according to their choice. The internet provides a hassle-free variant of the OTT platforms that allows live streaming of sports in real time. However, Stuffed.com reports on the legality, infringement, downtime of these websites to give users the option to watch their matches there or not in the safest way possible.
  • Checking Live Scores: Although our generation is blessed with live streaming and OTT, sometimes it can be difficult to watch a game live due to a busy schedule. You must be wondering what could be the alternative to watching a game live? Well, let me burst the bubble; If life gives you a busy schedule, take the time and search for the live scores of the match on Google. This way you will stay connected to the aura of live streaming and finish your mountainous job.

Speaking of sports, cricket is one of the most watched matches in the world these days due to the start of T20 matches. All over the world, people are becoming more curious than ten years ago. Sports such as football, hockey, tennis and badminton are also generally regarded with an equivalent sportsmanship.

Things you must have when opting for online sports streaming

  1. Strong Internet Connectivity:

The essential factor in streaming a match online is strong internet connectivity. A fluctuating network will hamper the live streaming process and ruin the entire experience of watching it live. On the contrary, a strong network will keep the live experience smooth and hassle-free.

  1. Compatible device:

Once you’ve successfully subscribed to a strong internet connection, it’s important to have a compatible device to stream the matches live. A good device will not heat up unnecessarily and give you a hassle-free experience.

  1. Can we watch it for free?

The answer is a big NO! We live in a world where nothing is free except the air we breathe. Watching any sport live online would require a minimum subscription fee. The OTT platform offers several sports channels with variations such as national, regional, local and even international sports channels. You must choose your package according to your needs.

  1. Good knowledge of technology:

Many people face problems when using modern technology. It will be better to understand the device and how live streaming works to have sound experience.

In summary :

Watching your favorite sports after a long, tiring day could act as a dopamine boost. Subscription to any OTT platform will be your travel companion, where you can watch your favorite sport and be in your magical world. It’s a world of possibilities; to explore!

Swiss authorities warn COVID-19 rules threaten sporting events

By Sports events

BERNE, Switzerland (AP) – Swiss Olympic officials on Tuesday urged the federal government to exempt international athletes and officials from new quarantine rules that threaten the organization of winter sports World Cup events.

People arriving from the growing number of countries on Switzerland’s Red List must enter mandatory 10-day quarantine periods to protect against COVID-19 and the aggressive variant of omicron.

The Red List now includes Canada, where female alpine skiers – including former World Cup champions Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States and Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland – currently compete in Lake Louise. They are expected to travel to Switzerland’s side for two super-G races in the high end of St. Moritz.

“If travel restrictions and quarantine rules are maintained, the organization of international sporting events in Switzerland will be in danger, if not impossible”, said Jürg Stahl, the president of the Swiss National Olympic Committee.

I have suffered color discrimination all my life: L Sivaramakrishnan

By Sports games

Former Indian spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan said he had been “discriminated against on the basis of color” his entire life, including in his own country. Sivaramakrishnan, who played 9 tests and 16 ODIs for India, spoke about his experience of discrimination following the racism scandal that rocked English cricket.

“ I’ve been criticized and discriminated against my whole life, so it doesn’t bother me anymore. This is unfortunately happening in our own country, ” Sivaramakrishnan wrote on his Twitter account.

The former leg spinner, who was known for his prodigious trick and flight, was reacting to a Twitter post that hinted at the online trolling that commentators were facing.

Sivaramakrishnan is not the only Indian player to have spoken of discrimination. Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund also raised this question on social media in 2017.

In a statement posted on his Twitter page, Mukund, who has taken part in 7 tryouts for India, said: “I have traveled a lot inside and outside our country since I was old. from 15 years old. Ever since I was young, people’s obsession with my skin color has always been a mystery to me. “He added in the statement:” Anyone who follows cricket would understand the obvious. I have played and I trained day after day in the sun and not once did I regret having tanned or lost a few shades.

It’s just because I love what I’m doing and I was able to achieve some things just because I spent hours outside. I’m from Chennai which is probably one of the hottest places in the country and have happily spent most of my adult life on the cricket pitch. racial discrimination.

England cricket recently found itself in the center of a storm as former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq testified about the racial discrimination he faced in a parliamentary hearing.

Sports games are stuck in a rut

By Sports games

If you buy the annual iteration of your favorite sports video game, chances are you haven’t had much to celebrate in recent years. Frankly speaking, the genre is struggling, and even the new generation of consoles has not been the answer to rejuvenate it. Take just this year, for example. The metacritic scores are anything but impressive for the biggest sports of the day. Madden NFL 22 got an appalling 60 NHL 22, which promised to change its metagame, disappointed with a 74. NBA 2K has largely been the franchise to beat, but NBA 2K22 only holds a 76, one lowest ratings in the series. in years. FIFA 22 and MLB: The Show 21 had the highest averages, around 78, but it’s telling that neither of these franchises can even cross the 80 mark.

This downward trend has been going on for quite some time now, and I am irritated to see largely intact fads and similar technical errors continue year after year. It’s like watching your favorite sports team when it’s in crisis. How long do you wait and watch the continual losses add up before you step down and hope next season is better?

The problem is, the hope that the next entry is doing better has been around for too many seasons now, and it’s not just with one or two franchises. It is at all levels. Last generation, the sports genre has exploded with innovation, making sports games more like real life. Additionally, the developers were looking for unique ways to build a community around them and cater for multiple types of gamers, from building robust franchise modes to offering skill-based online gaming. And, more importantly, they were finding new and exciting ways to captivate sports fans. Visual Concepts showed the power of sports storytelling, making NBA 2K’s MyCareer a must-have game by letting you create a player and take them on a cinematic journey that plunged into the highs and lows of stardom.

It opened up a world of potential and ignited a fire in their competition, with FIFA creating NHL’s Alex Hunter: The Journey and Be A Pro becoming a choice-driven story. Heck, Visual Concepts was so successful that it even implemented a storyline in NBA 2K18 and 19’s franchise mode, but with mixed results. But at the very least, the developers were trying new things, taking risks, and learning from each other about engagement and what made people play their game year round.

Sports games these days are playing it safe, offering graphical upgrades and a few new features to get by, but no series really tries to reinvigorate the formula or shake up what has been done before. And even when efforts are made, they feel lukewarm. For example, NHL 22 tried to take inspiration from Madden by featuring Superstar X-Factors and made an effort to shake up its metagame. The problem? These X-Factors ended up being a non-factor in making the gameplay more rewarding or exciting, and the metagame hasn’t changed enough to be noticeable except for its flaws.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing various fashions neglected without significant changes for years. I can’t remember the last time NBA 2K, NHL, or FIFA really hit Franchise Mode. Madden made an attempt this year with Franchise Mode, but it wasn’t enough to make it a must-have game. Worse yet, things that don’t work or need to be improved stay the same; The NHL’s dialogue in Be A Pro is laughable, and his poke check remains subdued while Madden is still full of weird glitches and a clunky interface.

The annual sports game releases leave no time for large-scale changes, but every year the developers have always made smart improvements to the foundation. I’ve come to expect that a game in any sports franchise will play more smoothly each year, and specific modes will receive more attention with more effort towards meaningful additions. And when the gameplay starts to fizzle out, the developers will start investing in new strategies to keep it interesting, like finding ways to change the metagame or implementing a new system that changes the way gameplay feels. , like the enhanced skating in NHL 19. But too much stays the same for too long in many franchises. Madden’s gameplay code is so old at this point that the developers are just getting around the same issues, from instant animations to players who meet after the game, even when they are trying to add new features.

It also feels like sports games are at a crossroads in deciding what they should be for this generation of gamers. I don’t envy this decision, as there are many reasons why sports fans choose the controller. Ask anyone what their favorite mode is and why, and you’ll get tons of answers. However, one thing never changes: These games are meant to have a long tail and be played all year round. This has led many developers to invest significantly in online centric modes that they can continue to update throughout the year. But even here the rewards never seem big enough, or worse, they feel very generic in their execution.

Limited resources make it difficult to decide to focus on developers. It’s a constant standoff between keeping fans hardcore and attracting new players through more relaxed offerings, like FIFA’s Volta, Madden’s The Yard, and NHL’s Pro-Am. Someone is always left behind, and lately, it’s the dedicated players to more single player businesses like franchise modes. Let’s face it: fads like these don’t make extra money.

NBA 2K22 has probably made the biggest leap this year, trying to merge its popular MyCareer mode with The City, its bustling online world, where players can play against each other in pickup games and tournaments and to shop. Visual Concepts still has a long way to go to reduce its intrusive microtransactions here, and it’s still too empty to be fun to explore, but I see the potential.

I just saw WWE 2K22 forgo its usual fall version to allow more time to consolidate things, and while the series has been full of ups and downs, I love the creativity that continues to shine in its different modes and how it responds to the things that excite hardcore fans. There’s 2K Showcase Mode, the playable WWE 2K documentary where you follow the career of a legendary wrestler or a historical period and face decisive matches; My Faction allows you to assemble and manage your own stable to compete with greats like The Four Horsemen; and this year it introduces MyRise, a new version of MyCareer that lets you guide a WWE rookie to stardom on a choice-driven adventure.

To be fair, the challenges of COVID-19 have undoubtedly made the past two years even more difficult and trying for the genre. However, these problems were already at their peak at the end of the previous generation, and they are not going away. An upgrade to the roster just isn’t enough these days to keep fans at bay, and it’s the loyal fans who end up feeling burnt that they’ve sparked their excitement for another season, to see the same problems reappear.

Developers shouldn’t be afraid to hit the reset button and maybe take a little longer to rethink their game. As it is, the sport contains a lot of creativity and excitement, but that experience doesn’t. not translate video games. Why? Because the developers continue to use the same playbook. They don’t want to take the risky game that brings glory for fear of failure, but I’d rather see these games try something new and fail than give me the same tired experience I’ve been playing for years now.

Cryptocurrencies and estate planning – The Royal Gazette

By Sports events

When a person dies after having made a will, his estate is transferred to his personal representatives and subsequently to the person or persons designated as beneficiary, once the administration of his estate is completed.

If a will has not been prepared, the personal estate of the deceased is divided among the surviving family members in accordance with the terms of the Succession Act 1974, after the administration of his estate is completed.

Bermuda’s Wills Act 1988 defines “personal property” to include leasehold property, corporate shares and chattels, among other forms of assets, and “all other property which by law requires are the responsibility of an executor or administrator ”.

But how do you deal with crypto assets?

They are not tangible and therefore incapable of being things in possession.

However, they hold a value that an individual has the right to own and transfer.

As ownership evolves, as with crypto assets, the methods used to preserve and pass them on in the event of death must also evolve.

The main concern of leaving crypto assets in a will is to ensure that they can be viewed and transferred to designated beneficiaries.

Crypto assets can be stored in different ways.

For example, cryptocurrencies like bitcoin can be held in crypto wallets, each of which has an address with an alphanumeric identity longer than 30 characters that acts as a pseudonym for the identity of the actual owner.

The most common types are hot and cold wallets.

Hot wallets are described as online cryptocurrency storage software, but because they are online, they can be susceptible to cyber attacks.

Cold wallets are offline storage devices and therefore tend to be more secure.

Regardless of how a crypto asset is stored, an individual needs an access key code to access it.

Two high profile cases show how crypto assets were lost.

In 2018, the CEO of Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX, Gerald Cotten, passed away suddenly at the age of 30.

His $ 190 million in crypto assets was inaccessible because he was the sole holder of the company’s private keys and cold wallets – and hadn’t shared those details with anyone.

That same year, Mathew Mellon died at age 54, but his $ 500 million worth of cryptocurrency was also lost.

Mr Mellon had stored the private keys to his crypto assets in cold wallets distributed at various banks, but he had not told anyone where they were.

These examples show how easy it is to lose access to cryptocurrencies, and highlight the importance of creating a plan that executors and beneficiaries should follow when managing an estate, especially when it comes to managing an estate. concerns crypto assets.

When drafting a will, special attention should be paid to instructions on how to access crypto assets so that they can be transferred to the intended beneficiaries.

Most importantly, beneficiaries should be given clear instructions on how to access crypto assets.

In Bermuda, a will becomes a public document once it is probated.

It is therefore not advisable to note the wallet address and / or the access key code in a will, as no one would want this sensitive information to become accessible to other than the intended beneficiaries of the crypto assets. .

In order to ensure that crypto assets are kept safe and available for transfer to the beneficiaries of the estate, individuals should provide a detailed plan of how their crypto assets are held over their lifetime and how they are to become. accessible to the beneficiaries of their inheritance upon their death. .

For example, a cryptocurrency bank may hold crypto wallets and their access key codes on behalf of individuals.

Instructions may be left with the bank to grant access to executors and beneficiaries. This way, wallet details and private key codes remain private and are only disclosed to those who are entitled to them.

Another way to transmit crypto assets is to keep the cryptocurrency in a cold offline wallet and store the private access key information in a safe, while ensuring that detailed instructions are left behind. on how to access the safe and wallet.

As more people start to diversify their portfolios with crypto assets, they need to make sure they have a detailed plan to preserve and pass those assets on when they die.

They should also consider seeking advice on whether they should set up a trust or hire a custodian to hold their crypto assets on their behalf.

In any case, owners of crypto assets should carefully review their estate planning to ensure that their assets, and more specifically their crypto assets, can be passed securely to their beneficiaries.

New Covid variant in South Africa, sporting events, Nu variant, coronavirus B.1.1.529, Indian tour in South Africa

By Sports events

Sporting events in South Africa have been turned upside down following the British government’s announcement on Thursday that South Africa had returned to the “red list” following the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in the country.

Officially known as B.1.1.529 and potentially named Nu, the variant has worried scientists due to a large number of mutations and a large number of cases in South Africa. It was originally seen in Botswana.

Two Welsh rugby teams, Cardiff and the Scarlets, have announced they are withdrawing from scheduled United Rugby Championship matches and plan to return home as soon as possible.

Sixteen British players withdrew after the first round of the Joburg Open golf tournament, the first event of the new DP World Tour, and had to return to Britain to avoid having to spend two mandatory weeks in quarantine.

The quarantine obligation comes into effect on Sunday.

The Scarlets were scheduled to face the Sharks in Durban on Saturday and Cardiff were scheduled to meet the Lions in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Irish team Munster and Italy’s Zebre were also in South Africa for Saturday’s games against the Bulls and Stormers respectively.

There was no immediate word on whether the Munster and Zebra games were going to take place. Munster issued a statement saying their players were “safe and healthy” in Pretoria. The club said they are working with the championship organizers and will provide an update later.

A spokesperson for the Sunshine Tour, which co-sanctions the South African stage of the World Tour, said officials from both bodies are meeting to discuss the latest developments and are expected to issue a statement later on Friday.

Two more tournaments, the South African Open and the Alfred Dunhill Championships, are scheduled in South Africa over the next two weeks and the spokesperson said at this point the tournaments are due to take place.

The South African cricket team played a one-day international match against the Netherlands at Centurion on Friday, but according to website Espncricinfo, it has not yet been decided whether two more matches in the series will be played. .

Fear of the coronavirus could also jeopardize a comprehensive high-profile tour of South Africa by India, which includes three test matches, three one-day internationals and four Twenty20 internationals, starting December 17.

FIFA 22, Madden NFL 22, and other sports games cost $ 26 for Black Friday

By Sports games

A bunch of annual sports titles costs just $ 26 at Walmart as part of the retailer’s Black Friday week sale, including FIFA 22, Madden NFL 22, and NBA 2K22. NHL 22 can be purchased for the same price on Amazon. The discount applies to the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions (if available) of each game and lasts until November 28.

FIFA 22 is arguably the highlight of the sale, which scored 8 in our review earlier this year. Of course, FIFA 22 doesn’t change much from FIFA 21, and we’re not thrilled with the microtransactions in Ultimate Team mode, but the soccer is fun, the matches are well paced, and the player animations are great thanks to HyperMotion. ‘EA technology.

As for Madden NFL 22, we gave it a 7 in our review and called it a “recent high rating for the series”, thanks to better and more varied AI teams, new features like Gameday Atmosphere and Gameday Momentum, and a revamped Franchise mode. this makes the downtime between games more interesting than last year’s release.

We didn’t review NBA 2K22 or NHL 22, but both games garnered decent reviews from critics this year. NBA 2K22 sits at a 78 on metacritics, and the general answer is that the gameplay is solid but held back by technical issues and microtransactions for some of the modes.

NHL 22, on the other hand, was received less favorably, with an average of a 71 on metacritics. As noted in our NHL 22 roundup, most of the reviews are high on hockey, but low on the lack of innovation. The switch to EA’s Frostbite engine, however, gives NHL 22 a visual advantage over previous iterations.

Nabbing the latest annual sports games for $ 60 at launch can be a gamble, but $ 26 for each game makes this sale a great way to add the latest versions of each franchise to your library. There are other Walmart Black Friday discounts to take advantage of this week as well, like grabbing the Rider’s Republic extreme sports open-world sandbox for just $ 25.

Argentina celebrates the anniversary of the death of football legend Maradona

By Sports games

Argentina celebrated the first anniversary of the death of football legend Diego Maradona on Thursday with ceremonies, tributes, graffiti and emotional posts on social media.

Maradona died of a heart attack at the age of 60 after undergoing brain surgery two weeks earlier. Seven medical professionals who treated the star face criminal charges after a medical report said Maradona did not receive adequate treatment.

“The world has been more horrible for a year now because you’re not here,” Maradona’s eldest daughter Dalma wrote on Instagram.

Maradona’s youngest son Diego Fernando, 8, visited his father’s grave in the private cemetery Jardín de Bella Vista.

“I came over so Dieguito said hello to his father,” his mother Veronica Ojeda told reporters.

One of Maradona’s brothers, Raul Alfredo, also visited the grave of the World Cup winner, who played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell’s Old Boys.

The four sisters of Maradona attended a religious mass.

The Argentina national team also marked the occasion on social media with the message: “ It has been a year since you became immortal. We will never forget you. ” The country’s football association said the next round of the national championship will take place after the players jointly form a number 10 on the pitch before each game.

Fans have also gathered for tributes on sites dedicated to the great Argentine.

Golf-Morikawa and McIlroy to start 2022 season in Abu Dhabi

By Sports games

World number two Collin Morikawa and four-time major winner Rory McIlroy will start their 2022 DP World Tour season at the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi in January. Morikawa, 24, who won this year’s British Open, finished the season as number one on the European Tour and closed a year to remember with a victory in the DP World Tour Championship on Sunday.

The European Tour announced earlier this month that it will be renamed DP World Tour from next year following a partnership with the UAE-based logistics company. The Abu Dhabi Championship has already been held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club for 16 consecutive years, but will move to Yas Links Abu Dhabi next year and run from January 20-23.

“I can’t wait to return to the Middle East and compete in the Abu Dhabi Championship for the first time,” Morikawa said on the European Tour website. “I’ve heard great things about the event and it always attracts a world class bunch year after year, but I know this year will be very special at Yas Links for the first time.”

McIlroy, who ended his 2021 campaign with a tied sixth place at the DP World Championship, will continue his quest for a maiden victory in Abu Dhabi, where he has finished fourth on four occasions. “I have many happy memories of the Abu Dhabi championship and once again look forward to starting my year in this wonderful tournament,” said McIlroy.

“I have come close to this event several times in the past, and I hope I have a chance to win this trophy for the first time on Sunday.”

Cricket-Paine scandal will be a distraction during Ashes: Ponting

By Sports games

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has said Tim Paine’s resignation as captain over a sexting scandal will “inevitably” be a distraction in Ashes’ five-test round against England.

Paine resigned https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/paine-steps-down-australia-test-cricket-captain-after-texting-scandal-2021-11-19 from his role last Friday after revelations in the media he had been investigated and cleared for sexually explicit text messages sent to a former Cricket Tasmania colleague in 2017. “I think it will inevitably (a distraction). huge call for himself, for Australian cricket and for the betterment of the Australian cricket team. But that is not going to go away, “Ponting told a Cricket Australia website.

“As much as we would all like to see it go away and there comes a time when it is never talked about, it’s inevitable it’s there.” Unfortunately for Tim, he’s going to be asked about it everywhere he goes… He goes. explode and hopefully he will spend enough time to have a really good free space in Brisbane (for the first test). “

Australian spinner Nathan Lyon played down the impact Paine’s presence would have on the team. “I don’t see it as a distraction at all,” Lyon told reporters on Thursday.

“At the end of the day, we are professional athletes, we know what to do and how to do it.” The Ashes begins December 8 at Gabba.

Ponting said Alex Carey could replace Paine as wicket keeper if the 36-year-old was dropped, but backed Josh Inglis, who has yet to make his international debut, to be the long-term successor behind the strains. “I officially say I love Inglis – I think he’s going to be a really good cricketer for Australia for a long time to come, whatever format they pick him up in first, whether it’s the T20s, the one-dayers or trial cricket, ”added Ponting.

Lyon, however, said he wanted Paine behind the stumps. “The coaches said we were going to pick the best 11 available and to me Tim Paine is the best goalkeeper in the world,” he said.

“It’s very selfish from a bowler’s point of view. I want the best glove behind the stumps.”

Mirabai Chanu to miss World Championship and Senior Commonwealth Championship

By Sports games

Olympic silver medalist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will miss the World Championship and Senior Commonwealth Championship which will be held simultaneously from December 7-17 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Chanu, who won a silver medal in the 49kg category at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year and is also a former world champion, withdrew from both events on the advice of the coach- Indian chief Vijay Sharma.

“Our main goal (for the World Championship and the Senior Commonwealth Championship) is for weightlifters to qualify for the Commonwealth Games next year,” Sharma told PTI.

“We sent Mira’s entry but her performance is not very good at the moment. We are working a bit on his snatch technique.

“Her qualification (for the CWG) is not a problem as she won silver at the Olympics and she is also ranked number one at the moment,” he added.

The Commonwealth Senior Championship was previously scheduled to be held in Singapore from October 20-24, but was canceled due to COVID-19. It will now take place simultaneously and in the same location alongside the world championship next month.

Twenty weightlifters from across the country, including Youth Olympic Gold Medalist Jeremy Lalrinnunga, will compete in the tournament.

Chanu, who holds the world record in the clean and jerk in the 49kg category after successfully lifting 119kg in the Asian Championship last year, struggled to stay tied with her Chinese rivals in the snatch section.

The 27-year-old has, in her own words, struggled lifting weights in the snatch due to an imbalance affecting her right shoulder and back.

Chanu had also seen Dr. Aaron Horschig, a former weightlifter turned physiotherapist and strength and conditioning trainer in the United States, which helped her win the silver medal in Tokyo immensely.

When asked if Chanu plans to return to the United States for training, Sharma said: “It is not necessary at the moment.” Sharma said the decision to withdraw from the world championships is a strategic one.

“She doesn’t face any issues but it’s just that we’re strategically thinking about which events to attend and which to miss.

“She has been competing continuously for the past five years. We have prepared but it is not enough for this event.

“She should have taken an extra load for this event, so I advised her to miss it,” he said.

However, in an interview with PTI last month, Chanu revealed that she still sometimes experiences pain when lifting heavy weights.

“The problem is solved, but sometimes I still have pain in my right shoulder and back because of the imbalance. But there is a lot of improvement compared to before, ” she said.

“At the moment, there is no plan to go to the United States because there is a world championship in December. After that, maybe we’ll plan. I consult him (Horschig) online on what to do. ” Asian Championship gold medalist Jhilli Dalabehera, who previously competed in the 45kg category, will represent India in the Chanu category. during the event.

Another player accuses Essex of racism, sponsor withdraws

By Sports games

Former Essex coach Jahid Khan was accused of racist abuse while playing for the England county team a few years ago, according to a report.

Jahid is the third Essex player to accuse him of the racism that rocked English cricket following the Yorkshire-Azeem Rafiq episode.

The 35-year-old cricketer follows Zoheb Sharif and Maurice Chambers who have also accused the club of racial discrimination.

Jahid, who represented Essex in seven first-class games between 2005 and 2009, described the club as “a world of white men where brunettes were strangers” after a teammate asked him if he ” was going to bomb “. the club.

It was a world of white men where browns were strangers. I wanted to change my voice. I tried to dig deeper into it. I really wanted to fit in, ” Jahid said, quoted by The Cricketer.

I felt like an underdog the whole time I was at Chelmsford. I was always afraid of what they were going to come up with and it made it incredibly difficult to focus on my cricket, ” he added.

In the meantime, it has also emerged that a sponsor has withdrawn from his association with the club. ‘Seetec is listed as one of eight Platinum Club partners on the Essex website and has confirmed to inews.co.uk that it is suspending ties with the club following historic and deeply damaging allegations’ ‘, inews.co. UK said in a report.

“We have suspended our links with Essex County Cricket Club with immediate effect,” a company spokesperson told the website. Through the services we provide, our employee-owners work with diverse communities to help people achieve their life ambitions. This is part of our broader commitment to social inclusion, as it is important to us that the communities we serve have equal access to opportunities. No form of racism should be tolerated. ” Previously, John Faragher had resigned as president of Essex on November 11 following a claim he used racist language at a council meeting directors in 2017, which he firmly denied.

Best sports games for PS5

Below is a list of best sports games for PS5. These are the best sports games available on PlayStation 5 right now, presented in no particular order, as determined by our editorial team.

NBA 2K22 (PS5)

NBA 2K22 (PS5)NBA 2K22 (PS5)

Editor: Sports 2K / Developer: Visual concepts

Release date: September 10, 2021 (United States) / September 10, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Basketball
  • Players: 4

NBA 2K22 is unmatched in the sports genre for its reach, and while many may frown at Visual Concepts’ attempt to create an open-world online RPG in the ever-popular MyCareer mode, there’s no doubt you could waste hundreds of hours in this regard. With one of the strongest franchise modes on the market in MyNBA and a rewarding Ultimate Team alternative in MyTeam, this is the biggest and best featured sports game on PS5. Nice improvements to the defense mean it plays quite cleanly on the pitch as well.

Riders Republic (PS5)

Riders Republic (PS5)Riders Republic (PS5)

Editor: Ubisoft / Developer: Ubisoft Annecy

Release date: October 28, 2021 (United States) / October 28, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Arcade
  • Sport: Extreme sports
  • Players: 1

A game that brings something a little different to the sports genre on PS5, Riders Republic is an open world game from Ubisoft with a cycling / skiing / wingsuit skin. A massively multiplayer online sandbox, filled with both silly and serious challenges, this game is on a colossal scale – something it underlies with its outrageous mass racing competitions. It might sound a little ugly and its too cool for school style will squeak, but going down mountains at 100 km / h is still an exhilarating experience.

MLB The Show 21 (PS5)

MLB The Show 21 (PS5)MLB The Show 21 (PS5)

Editor: Sony interactive entertainment / Developer: WWS San Diego Studio

Release date: April 20, 2021 (United States) / April 20, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Baseball
  • Players: 2

MLB The Show 21 looks like a half step into the PS5 generation, as its industry-leading presentation has stalled somewhat. Make no mistake, however, this has some of the best gameplay of the genre and one of the deepest franchise modes available, with only NBA 2K22 really rivaling it. Despite that, Diamond Dynasty is the real star: this generous card-collecting mode is absolutely jam-packed with content, and unlike other options in the genre, you don’t need to spend a dime to get the most out of it.

FIFA 22 (PS5)

FIFA 22 (PS5)FIFA 22 (PS5)

Release date: October 1, 2021 (United States) / October 1, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Soccer
  • Players: 4

In a year where eFootball has effectively declared itself unfit for competition, EA Sports may have put the final nail in Konami’s long-running franchise with its best football simulation in years. FIFA 22 feels extraordinary on the pitch, thanks to a bunch of new animations and vastly improved ball physics. While not without its flaws – namely microtransactions – Career Mode additions, like the revamped Player Career, add value to the offline experience, while new Fall Guys-style board games from Volta Football are also quite fun.

F1 2021 (PS5)

Release date: July 16, 2021 (United States) / July 16, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Formula One
  • Players: 2

Between its cheesy Braking Point cinematic campaign and hugely in-depth cooperative career mode, F1 2021 sits alongside NBA 2K22 and MLB The Show 21 as one of the most comprehensive sports games out there. Basically Codemasters did an amazing job on the track as well, with a huge number of settings making this racer appealing to both casual Sunday drivers and experienced gas enthusiasts alike.

NHL 22 (PS5)

Release date: October 15, 2021 (United States) / October 15, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Ice Hockey
  • Players: 4

As part of the transition to the Frostbite engine, the EA Canada team has achieved one important thing: not to completely dump the game. NHL 22 can share many of its features and modes with its immediate predecessor PS4, but at minus it wasn’t gutted like the disastrous NHL 15. The X-Factors implementation adds personality to the rink, and Franchise Mode is still more in-depth than most EA Sports alternatives in. genre.

Release date: March 25, 2021 (United States) / March 25, 2021 (UK / EU)
  • Type: Simulation
  • Sport: Tennis
  • Players: 4

From a pure presentation standpoint, Tennis World Tour 2: Complete Edition is by far the worst game on this list – even though it looks and runs a lot sharper on the PS5, compared to its counterpart. PS4. Inspired by the gameplay of the classic PS3 Top Spin 4, this game captures the ebb and flow of tennis fairly well and includes a reasonably robust Career mode with a good sense of progression. But a lack of animations and general polish lets it down, even though there’s a feeling the developer has something to work with here.

EA Sports’ flagship American football franchise has been overtaken by many other sports games on this list, but Madden NFL 22 has at least got the brand back on track. The expected improvements to Franchise Mode mean that it finally has some key systems, like play week planning and coordinators. It’s still a long way from where it needs to be, but Ultimate Team has some great content and The Yard is a nice alternative to authentic football. The less said about Face of the Franchise, the better.

Racist footballer comment overshadows moving moment for Roma teenager

By Sports games

The heartwarming moment of AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho gave Felix Afena-Gyan a new pair of sneakers after his stunning brace as a late Serie A replacement for Genoa on Sunday was overshadowed by a racist remark made by someone in the room. In a video posted online by the Ghanaian striker on Monday, an unidentified man off camera can be heard saying in Italian “there are bananas inside” as the 18-year-old unwrapped the box he was given Mourinho.

Neither Mourinho nor Afena-Gyan, who spoke in English, reacted to the comment made as the forward unwrapped his gift. The club was not immediately available for comment.

The video, which was shared widely online, came after Afena-Gyan came off the bench to score two stunning goals in Roma’s 2-0 Serie A nL1N2SC0J1 win over Genoa on Sunday. After the match, Mourinho said he “promised to buy him (Afena-Gyan) a pair of shoes he likes which costs 800 euros ($ 899.20)” and the Portuguese coach kept his word.

The teenager, who arrived in Rome from his native Ghana to join the club’s Under-19 team in January, only made his senior debut last month and has yet to start a first-team game . He was signed for the last 15 minutes against Genoa and had a huge impact, slipping in the opener before scoring a superb long-range strike in stoppage time to send Mourinho’s side to fifth in the table. .

“Mourinho teaches me a lot and I learn a lot from him. He is someone who has accomplished a lot in his career and he is a great person. I am happy to work with him,” said Afena-Gyan at Roma website https://www.asroma.com/en/news/2021/11/Felix-thanks-Mourinho-after-star-turn. ($ 1 = € 0.8897)

The most popular sporting events in the world

By Sports events

(STL.News) Sport is an integral part of human culture. This has been the case since time immemorial. Almost everyone in the world will have an interest or at least an interest in one type of sport or another. The popularity of various sporting activities is also increasing as internet connectivity and television rights continue to expand across the world.
While all kinds of sports have impressive audience figures, some are doing better than others. The number of spectators varies widely from sport to sport and this is easily seen from the audience of sporting events. To put that in perspective, let’s take a look at the most popular sporting events today.

Fifa World Cup

The World Cup is without a doubt the most anticipated sporting event on the planet. It occurs every four years, and in those years it is often one of the most watched sporting events in the world. On average, the World Cup audience is 3.5 billion people. Football or soccer, as it is commonly known, is already establishing itself as one of the most recognizable sporting activities in the world. So it’s no surprise that the World Cup brings together so many people to celebrate beautiful sport.

Other equally footballing events that draw an equally massive audience are the Women’s World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Confederation Cup.

Olympic Games

Now the Olympics are a different kind of event. This is because it involves multiple sports and athletics unlike the other events listed here. It often attracts more viewers than any other sport for this reason. In 2008, the Beijing Olympics drew 600 million viewers, which is very close to the number of viewers for the 2010 World Cup final. That’s the size of these games.

Tour de France

It turns out that there are many people around the world who are deeply interested in cycling tournaments. The Tour de France is the biggest in the world and it has the numbers to prove it. With up to 3.5 billion viewers, the event that takes place in France each summer is a prestigious sports competition that resonates with many fans. It is a very difficult route which often involves cycling through incredible landscapes. This perhaps adds to its appeal.

Cricket world cup

The popularity of cricket is quite disproportionate, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it is one of the most watched sports. In some countries like Pakistan and India, it is the most watched single and this has contributed to its dominance as one of the main sporting events. At least 400 million viewers come together every four years to watch the Cricket World Cup. Some cricket matches have even attracted audiences of over a billion people.

The Super Bowl

In America, few sporting events are even close to being as big as the Super Bowl. This American football event is the National Football League championship game and it has the numbers to back it up. Each year, it attracts tens or even hundreds of millions of viewers, most of them from the United States. Although it does not enjoy such popularity outside the country, the part of the American population that is fans is very respectable considering the population of the country.

NBA Finals

For basketball fans, few leagues are as popular as the NBA. Fans always follow their favorite teams throughout an 82-game regular season that typically ends in the playoffs and finally, the NBA Finals. These finals are often honored by many spectators as well as public figures and celebrities. This further adds to its appeal with a peak audience of over 16 million people in a single game.

NCAA Finals

College sports are also no slouch when it comes to the world’s most popular sporting events. In fact, this is usually where professional athletes start. So it’s no surprise that NCAA basketball games are so important. Players can not only show off their talent, but also put teams from their schools on the map. The maximum viewership for the event has passed 16 million, making it almost as popular as the NBA Finals.

Honorable mentions

Other incredible sporting events with huge viewership numbers that we can’t leave out include the Rugby World Cup, Kentucky Derby, Masters, Boxing, and the World Series. There are plenty of events to watch out for depending on where you are and what interests you have. It all depends on the sport you like. There is always a chance that there will be an event just for that.

You have mail … – The Royal Gazette

By Sports events

Bermuda Post’s decision to expand its international mail service should not have come as a surprise. After all, his 2020 business plan was announced in the House of Assembly a year ago and one of the deliverables was the package delivery partnerships.

In my last opinion, “whether to privatize or not”, I said that public transport should remain a public service because of the positive benefits which also align with the current challenges and objectives of the country. That is, to help reduce traffic jams, reduce the number of traffic accidents, protect the environment and reduce the cost of living.

While there is a good argument to be made for maintaining and even expanding Bermuda’s public transport services, I don’t see a similar path for the post office. In this context, I question the government’s strategy of increasing competition and causing friction with one of its main job-creating players.

Malcolm Raynor has worked in the telecommunications industry in Bermuda for over 30 years. Benefiting from Cable & Wireless internal training and education programs in Bermuda, Barbados, Saint Lucia (University of the West Indies) and Great Britain, he has reached the level of Senior Vice President. Independent thinker with a moderate ideology, his opinions are influenced by principles, data and trends

When unveiling the 2020 business plan, it was misleading for the minister to say: “The Bermuda Post value chain, compared to its competitors, relies heavily on its competitive prices.” While competition is healthy in a market to control prices and rates, is it a fair fight for a government institution that operates at a large loss to take on private companies that have to operate at a profit to maintain itself?

I am aware of the decline of the traditional economic model of the Post, and I understand that the goal is to make more income to reduce its deficit. However, at what cost? There is now no more love between the government and the e-commerce packaging industry. Whatever relationship there was, it’s definitely worse now.

More importantly, trust within the entire retail sector is broken, as overseas purchases are openly encouraged by a government which should instead provide economic security and assistance to businesses operating in the United States. the island.

This situation reminds me of a video that had previously gone viral on social media. It featured two gazelles locking horns and fighting against each other, arguing over what I suppose is territory. The two perceived enemies were so busy and focused on their disagreement that they didn’t notice a real threat looming on the horizon. Frame by frame of the video, there was danger running towards them. Gazelle spectators quickly left, as soon as it became apparent that a lion was coming to join the fray, hoping to have a five-course meal. The two in conflict continued to fight, and unfortunately for one of the gazelles, the lion got her wish.

The two gazelles fighting for the territory recall the Post Office and the local e-commerce packaging company. The lion, who is the king of the jungle, is Amazon, and that is the real danger to the courier industry in Bermuda, as well as the local retail industry as a whole.

Many of us are aware that Amazon has devoured its competition in its own home market in the United States and is the # 1 overseas retailer Bermuda and residents use when shopping. in line. What many ignore is Amazon Air, which has been the fastest growing airline to date.

Amazon Air is a cargo airline that operates exclusively for the transport of Amazon packages. It leases most of its cargo planes, but recently added to its fleet by purchasing used Boeing jets from other airlines. The number of planes at Amazon Air is expected to double in size over the past year, taking full advantage of the pandemic and the challenges it has faced for airlines. Amazon clearly has the ambition to build its own air cargo empire.

How will it be for Bermuda, who knows. Our small market may not be feasible for Amazon to fly its own plane to the island. However, one cannot rule out the possibility. Amazon’s goal is for customers to sign up for its Prime service, as this is a key factor in its long-term success. In order to be able to offer Amazon Prime, there must be a fast delivery option, which is usually two days. The only way to do this is to use your own plane. Like the lion in search of his next meal, Amazon is a beast, and he wants his brand to stay sticky to keep customers buying his products.

One of the stated goals of the Bermuda Post Office is to position itself to provide services to businesses large and small. It remains to be seen whether its initiatives, which are outlined in the Business Plan 2020, will be affected by the decision to promote online shopping abroad.

To achieve the Post’s overall goal of increasing revenue, the focus should have been on its strength – last mile services. I have a few suggestions that could have been explored as well, that wouldn’t have ruffled anyone.

Work with e-commerce packaging companies, not against them

Instead of intensifying competition with local businesses in this sector, La Poste could position itself as the last mile delivery person and complement them, whether it is hand delivery or pickup in the store. one of its post offices across the island. . This logistics program could then be used as a last mile deliverer for goods purchased online from local retail businesses, which have plenty of room to grow.

Direct mail is not dead

In fact, direct mail is making a comeback. The more online ads appear on all social media platforms, the harder it is for businesses to get their message across to consumers. Direct mail now has a better response rate than online ads and email campaigns as people are increasingly overwhelmed by digital marketing.

There are only a few retail businesses on the island that periodically use direct mail flyers to advertise their products. I don’t know the reasons for the low turnout. However, this looks like an opportunity to create an island-wide or parish-wide bi-weekly or monthly flyer delivery service to accommodate small businesses.

Create your own digital platform

La Poste must expand its last mile distribution by asserting itself in the digital space. Emails are less and less secure and it is very easy to create bogus and fraudulent messages. By creating a digital platform that requires a secure two-step login, all government bills and important notices could be posted for retrieval instead of sending regular email correspondence.

Privatize a service

As the Post moves towards parcel delivery, the service that should eventually be entrusted to individuals is the sale of stamps to the public. It would not be revolutionary, because other countries are already using this type of model. This would help reduce the overhead costs of a declining service while not affecting our obligation to provide accessible and affordable means of communication.

Kudos to the post office for creating a plan that will shape it for the future. It was good to involve a reputable company like KPMG, although it seemed to me that its scope was a bit narrow. That said, it was a misstep for the Post to establish its own link with a US-based courier provider, creating mistrust within the business community in the process.

I don’t know if Amazon is becoming more of a threat to local retailers. Amazon has a habit of eliminating its competitors and removing middlemen from its supply chain.

The MyBermudaPost service is myopic and makes the challenges that local retailers face in operating their businesses on the island even more difficult. It’s important to remember that overseas online retailers do not employ Bermudians, support other local businesses, and pay salaries and other government taxes. It is not a focus on the big picture.

Lyon-Marseille match abandoned after the shock of a water bottle against Payet

By Sports games

A French league match between Lyon and Marseille was scrapped after Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet was hit in the head by a water bottle thrown from the stands as he took a corner kick in the latest violence in supporters against French football. Payet collapsed to the ground in the fifth minute of the game in Lyon, 0-0, but was able to get up after receiving medical treatment. The referee ordered the players to return to the locker room with the suspension of play. After waiting around 75 minutes, an announcement in the stadium announced that play would resume but warned that “the match will be suspended if there is has another incident “. The Lyon players returned to the field after the announcement but the Marseille players remained in their locker room, reluctant to resume play, Payet saying he was shocked by the incident. Lyon warmed up for ten minutes before returning to the locker room. About two hours after kick-off, it was announced that the game had been discontinued. “My sporting decision has always been not to resume the game,” referee Ruddy Buquet told Amazon Prime Video. “A player has been physically injured. We have to protect the football players. We are responsible for their safety, which is why the final decision was made.” Buquet went on to explain why it took so long to abandon the game.

“There are so many factors to take into account. There is a packed stadium, there are players to be evacuated,” said Buquet. “These are important factors in terms of safety.” Payet was taunted by Lyon supporters during the warm-up and was the target of discriminatory slurs, according to French league officials. “He is psychologically injured,” Marseille President Pablo Longoria said of Payet.

“What is happening is not normal. We have always condemned any kind of violence.” The supporter who threw the bottle was reportedly found and ejected from the stadium. “The culprit was arrested. There was no risk that things would become aggressive again,” said Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas. “I think we are well organized here in terms of security … We think the game could have resumed without a problem.” Aulas criticized Marseille for not having resumed the match. “There was such a violent reaction (from Marseille) that Mr. Buquet asked to review the perfect (regional) and reconsider his decision,” said Aulas.

Aulas was conciliatory towards Payet.

“We send him our apologies. It makes us sad,” Aulas said on the club’s website. The French league blamed the host club and local authorities, saying the league had done its best to deter violence with penalties such as point deductions and games played behind closed doors. “These new serious incidents are a reminder that safety during matches is the responsibility of the host club and the local authorities, who have the final say on the resumption or abandonment of a match,” French league officials said. in a press release. “In such circumstances, the French championship regrets the decision to (attempt to) resume the Lyon-Marseille match by the regional prefect.” The statement added that “repeated serious incidents destroy the image of the French league in France and abroad. After these new extremely serious events, the disciplinary commission of the French league will meet tomorrow for an urgent meeting”. This is not the first time this season that a French league match has been marred by fan violence. And Marseille has already been the target of violence from supporters. A match between Nice and Marseille in August was abandoned after supporters threw projectiles and invaded the pitch. Payet was also hit by a bottle in this game and sent it back to the fans. Players and staff were also involved in a brawl. Nice received a two-point penalty, one of which was suspended, and the game was rescheduled and replayed in October in a neutral location with no fans. Montpellier supporters threw projectiles at Marseille players in August when the game was suspended for more than 10 minutes. Valentin Rongier had his lip cut off by a projectile. In September, supporters invaded Anger’s pitch as Marseille and Angers supporters clashed. Other clubs have also been hit by crowd issues. In September, supporters invaded the lawn of Lens in the northern derby between Lens and Lille. Fights broke out in the stands between Lensiens and Lille supporters. In September, a teenager was injured by a projected seat during a match between PSG and Lyon. In October, a game between Saint-Etienne and Angers was delayed by around an hour due to a pitch invasion and flares launched into the pitch before kick-off. “After such a night, I think what one can ask, given the situation, is that French football is seriously considering stopping this type of incident,” said Longoria.

Transparency is absolutely necessary on accusations of sexual assault such as the Peng Shuai situation,” she wrote on Twitter on Friday. “We are following this file closely with the tennis authorities and the Quai d’Orsay (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).”

Rugby-Springboks will miss Erasmus “waterboy” after World Rugby ban

By Sports games

South Africa captain Siya Kolisi has said the absence of banned rugby manager Rassie Erasmus from Twickenham would be a blow to the team as they face England on Saturday. Erasmus is banned from all activity on match days until September 30 next year after being found guilty of misconduct by an independent committee for his hour-long video review of match officials during the British & Series. Irish Lions.

He had posed as a waterboy for the Boks during the Lions series, coached on the sidelines, and reprized the role for this month’s test wins against Wales and Scotland. Still, he won’t be involved at Twickenham on Saturday after his penalty was handed down by World Rugby on Wednesday.

“It will be difficult to be without him as his presence makes a huge difference to us,” Kolisi said at a Friday press conference that started with SA Rugby, stating that they would not comment on the matter or the sentence imposed on Erasmus. Kolisi, however, answered a question about having to do without Erasmus for Saturday’s test.

“His insight, the things he sees that we don’t see on the pitch are important. It helps a lot when someone has played rugby at this level. He always motivates us and talks to us from the field side and also when the substitutions are made, ”said the captain. “He is making a huge difference for us as a team and he will be missed. But I know the coaching staff have plans on how we can get around that as a group, ”Kolisi added.

Erasmus has been found guilty of all six charges brought by the governing body for various violations of the gambling code of conduct, but he will appeal the verdict, as will SA Rugby. Although Jacques Nienaber is now the team’s coach, succeeding Erasmus after South Africa’s victory at the 2019 World Cup, he did not hide the fact that Erasmus has a strong contribution, from training the selection of teams.

Erasmus was unhappy with Australian referee Nic Berry’s many decisions in Test’s first 22-17 loss to the Cape Lions in July, and even more unhappy when his efforts to engage with the official the next day were repulsed. He did a 62 minute video review which was posted online. (Written by Mark Gleeson in Cape Town; edited by Toby Davis)

Chinese tennis star’s email doubts raise security concerns

By Sports games

A Chinese professional tennis player has not been seen in public since she accused a former senior government official of sexual assault who allegedly sent an email claiming she was safe and the allegation was bogus, a message that only amplified concerns about his safety and requests for information about him. well-being and location.

So far, these appeals have been met with silence.

Chinese authorities have not said anything publicly since the accusation, about two weeks ago, by the double Grand Slam champion, Peng Shuai, of being sexually assaulted by Zhang Gaoli. The first #MeToo case to reach the political realm in China was not reported by national media and the online discussion about it was heavily censored.

Steve Simon, president and CEO of the Women’s Tennis Association, questioned the authenticity of what Chinese state media said was an email to her in which Peng says she is safe and that the assault allegation is false. It was released on Thursday by CGTN, the international arm of China’s public broadcaster CCTV.

“I find it hard to believe that Peng Shuai wrote down the email we received or believes what is attributed to him,” Simon wrote.

The statement, he added, “only raises my concerns for her safety and her whereabouts.” Simon has called for a full investigation and the WTA has said it is ready to pull tournaments out of the country if it does not get a proper response. Top players including Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic have spoken, and the hashtag WhereisPengShuai is all the rage online.

Serena Williams tweeted that she was “devastated and shocked to hear the news” about Peng.

“I hope she’s safe and found as soon as possible,” Williams wrote. “This needs to be investigated and we must not remain silent.” International Tennis Federation spokeswoman Heather Bowler said Thursday the governing body is in contact with the China Tennis Association and liaising with the WTA and the International Olympic Committee.

“Player safety is always our top priority and we support a full and transparent investigation into this matter,” Bowler wrote in an email to The Associated Press. “Although we have not spoken to the player, we are in contact with the National Tennis Association of China (CTA) in case they could provide any additional information or updates.” China has largely suppressed a #MeToo movement that flourished briefly in 2018 and moves forward with the Beijing Winter Olympics in February despite calls to boycott activists and some foreign politicians of China’s record. in human rights.

When asked several times about the case, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian again said on Thursday that he was unaware.

Peng, 35, is a former No. 1 player in the women’s doubles who won titles at Wimbledon in 2013 and Roland Garros in 2014.

She wrote in a long social media post on November 2 that Zhang, a former deputy prime minister who was a member of the ruling Communist Party’s top leadership committee, had forced her to have sex despite refusals. repeated three years ago.

The post was quickly deleted from his verified account on Weibo, one of China’s major social media platforms, but screenshots of the explosive charge quickly spread across the internet in China. She has not appeared in public since then, raising questions about her fate and whether she is being held.

Zhang, who is 75, disappeared from public view after retiring in 2018, as usual for former senior officials. He is not known to have close ties to the current rulers.

Peng’s charge is the first high-profile sexual assault charge against a powerful politician in China. Past accusations have involved prominent figures in the nonprofit world, academia and the media, but never reached senior Communist Party officials or state-owned companies.

CGTN released the statement on Twitter, which is blocked in China along with many other foreign platforms such as Google and Facebook. He did not post it on Chinese social media, and there was no mention of the alleged email behind the Great Firewall, which separates the Chinese internet from the rest of the world.

Some netizens bypassed controls and posted the news on private social media groups. Freeweibo.com, which records Weibo’s censored messages, said searches for “Peng Shuai” and “Zhang Gaoli” were both in the top 10 most searched topics on Thursday.

Searches for Peng Shuai’s name on the Chinese search engine Sogou only brought up articles about his tennis career. His Weibo account no longer allows comments and no results appear if people search for his Weibo account.

Peng wrote that Zhang’s wife was guarding the door during the alleged assault, which followed a game of tennis. Her post also said that they had had sex seven years ago and that she had feelings for him afterwards. She also said she knew speaking would be difficult.

“Yes, other than me, I have kept no evidence, no recording, no video, only the true experience of my twisted self. Even if I destroy myself, like throwing an egg against a rock, or a butterfly flying into a flame, I will continue to speak the truth about us, “the now deleted post said.

His allegation came just three months before Beijing hosted the Winter Olympics, which were the target of a campaign to boycott several human rights organizations in large part because of the crackdown by China of Uyghur Muslims. The games face a possible diplomatic boycott from the United States and other countries. Rights groups compared the 2022 Beijing Olympics to Hitler’s 1936 Berlin Olympics. China has always denied any human rights abuses and claims its actions are part of anti-terrorism programs.

Peng has participated in three Olympics. The IOC said in a statement Thursday that “We have seen the latest reports and are encouraged by the assurances that she is safe.” The Switzerland-based IOC, which derives 73% of its income from the sale of broadcast rights and 18% from sponsors, has not criticized China and often repeats that it is only a sports company and that it has no mandate to act on the policies of a sovereign state. .

The WTA can better afford to exert pressure since it is less dependent on China’s revenue than the IOC or the NBA. The basketball league lost around $ 400 million in broadcast rights when China canceled games in the 2019-20 season after then-Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted to support protesters in Hong Kong.

The WTA Finals were held in Mexico this month due to the pandemic, with the event scheduled to return in 2022 in Shenzhen, China. The WTA has several tournaments in China, and the WTA Finals are scheduled there until 2030. In 2019, there were eight WTA tournaments there as part of the Chinese swing after the US Open and just a few months before. that the pandemic does not strike in early 2020.

Simon’s statement said Peng had shown incredible courage, but was still concerned for his safety.

“The WTA and the rest of the world need independent, verifiable proof that they are safe,” he wrote. “I have tried several times to reach her via many forms of communication, to no avail.”

IOC gives new sports advice on rules for trans athletes

By Sports games

In an effort to help sports write eligibility rules for trans athletes, the IOC issued an advisory distracting attention from individual testosterone levels and calling for evidence to prove there was a performance benefit. .

No athlete should be excluded from competition on the basis of an “unverified competitive advantage, alleged or perceived to be unfair due to their sexual variations, physical appearance and / or transgender status,” said the International Olympic Committee.

The six-page document follows years of consultation with medical and human rights experts and, since 2019, directly affected athletes to help draft guidelines for equity and inclusion.

It is released after the Tokyo Olympics where the first openly transgender athlete, weightlifter Laurel Hubbard, competed in the games and defended 800m champion Caster Semenya was among track athletes with intersex conditions and naturally high levels. of testosterone excluded from their events.

The new directive updates a 2015 revision that set a limit on the levels of testosterone allowed by athletes leading to treatments and procedures now described as “medically unnecessary”. “The eligibility criteria have at times resulted in serious harm,” the IOC admitted in a briefing on the advice which also warns against “invasive medical examinations”. Preventing harm is one of the 10 principles that will guide future decision making by sport officials. Others include non-discrimination, fairness, evidence-based decisions and the protection of athlete privacy.

The IOC document is not legally binding but clearly spells out what it now expects from the governing bodies responsible for regulating their own sports.

Some athletes are still expected to be ineligible in certain sports, with safety seen as a specific issue for combat and contact sports.

“Athletes should be allowed to compete, but unfair benefits need to be regulated,” said the IOC, which will help fund research into the elite performance of transgender and intersex athletes.

A target for next March, a few weeks after the close of the Beijing Winter Games, has been set to launch an online workshop program with sports organizations and athlete representatives.

“We have not found a solution to this big question,” said IOC spokesperson Christian Klaue. “It is clear that this is a subject that will be with us for a long time.”

Soccer-Kerr signs two-year extension with Chelsea

By Sports games

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr has signed a new contract which will extend the Australian striker’s stay at the club until the end of the 2023-24 season, the women’s Super League champions have said. Kerr, who joined Chelsea midway through the 2019-20 season, established herself as a lethal scorer in the women’s top flight with 39 goals, escaping with the Golden Shoe last season with 21 goals in 22 games. .

The 28-year-old has played in Australia and the United States, but said winning trophies with the London club meant her decision to stay was “a given”. “I think the club gives me every chance to succeed as a player. I don’t see myself going anywhere else in the world or leaving Europe, having what I have at Chelsea,” Kerr said on the site Club web https: // www. chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/11/16/kerr-talks-through-extension-news.

“The time had come, honestly, I didn’t feel like I wanted to rush into anything, just like signing here the first time around, it just happened naturally.” Kerr was the first player to win the Golden Shoe on three different continents and she is also leading the race this season with six goals. But his main goal is to defend the title with Chelsea in second, one point behind Arsenal.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s good when I win them but that’s not my main goal at the start of the year,” she added. “It’s a great reward, but if I won Golden Boot after Golden Boot and no trophy, it wouldn’t be so rewarding for me.

“That’s why last season winning the Golden Shoe and winning the league was so rewarding because it ultimately meant something.”

the sports media startup dedicated solely to coverage of women’s sport is producing a pre-game show on TikTok LIVE ahead of Saturday’s National Women’s Football League Championship game.

Retired United States Women’s National Team stars Angela Hucles and Leslie Osborne will host “The Warm Up” at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky., One hour and 15 minutes before kickoff between the games. Chicago Red Stars and Washington Spirit.

Additionally, Nike has partnered with Just Women’s Sports to help increase league coverage and analysis ahead of the NWSL season finale.

“For women’s sports to become mainstream, two things have to happen: the games have to be accessible, and there has to be coverage that matches the hype and enthusiasm that fans have for these amazing athletes,” he said. said Haley Rosen, Founder and CEO of Just Women’s Sports. Initiated.

“For fans to be engaged in a sporting event, they need to understand who is playing, what is at stake and why it matters.”

“This is the missing ingredient that we have been trying to add to the women’s sporting landscape, and ‘The Warm Up’ is a major step in this journey,” she added.

“The Warm Up” will air on TikTok LIVE.Just female sport

Hucles and Osborne were obvious choices to be the faces of the show, Rosen said.

With two World Cups and two Olympics between them, former national teams know the ins and outs of success at the highest level in women’s football.

They are also familiar with the world of professional women’s football in the United States. Both played for clubs in the WPS – the predecessor of the NWSL – and both were instrumental in the creation of the NWSL, which is now the oldest professional women’s soccer league in North America.

Hucles and Osborne have also continued their efforts to develop the game since leaving the field. Hucles is vice president of player operations at Angel City FC – the Los Angeles-based club that joined the NWSL in 2022 – while Osborne is working with a larger group to bring an expansion squad to the region. bay.

Both moved into sports broadcasting after their playing careers ended, making them what Rosen called “a perfect pair to co-host this show.”

“Ang and I have been good friends and former teammates for years, so we have a lot of experiences together and memories on and off the pitch,” Osborne told Insider. “[‘The Warm Up’] will be a great opportunity for new fans to get up to speed as we recap the season, playoffs and awards, and preview the finale. We’ll also dive deeper and more analytical at times to make sure everyone asks for more. It’s all about the balance. “

“There is a huge gap right now between what is seen around a game or a game and what can be said,” added Hucles.

“Storytelling around players, their backgrounds and interests connects fans and players while improving player profiles.

“This is just one way to help elevate female players in their respective sports and it’s rarer when it comes to women and women’s sports.”

Between the gripping storylines, the particularly competitive playoff race, and “the fact that there is an extremely underserved market” among NWSL fans, Rosen identified this weekend’s title game as a point of interest. ideal entry for this type of programming.

She also noted that the NWSL is “hot right now” after last season saw the league boast a remarkable 493% audience increase Year after year.

But Just Women’s Sports is set to expand its pre-game and post-match coverage beyond the NWSL Championship game. Rosen added that “this is just the beginning” of the brand’s foray into game day analysis.

“We’ve seen the demand for this type of content and we’ve seen that demand increase this year alone,” Rosen said. “‘The Warm Up’ is our first step towards creating a more robust coverage around the games and meeting that demand.”

“It’s also a natural next step in our evolution at JWS,” she added.

“We’ve only ever existed in COVID. But now that things are starting to pick up, we want to show up and be present at big events on the women’s sports calendar.”

Fans can catch Hucles and Osborne on TikTok LIVE Saturdays at 10:45 a.m. ET until 30 minutes before the kick-off of the title game at noon on CBS.

Just Women’s Sports’ partnership with Nike will provide fans with live analysis and on-site social media reporting throughout the championship, while Osborne will continue to cover the brand on Instagram Live after the final whistle.

Tennis-Djokovic is the “GOAT” for Sampras

By Sports games

The debate over the greatest of all time (GOAT) in men’s tennis has divided opinions for years, but American Pete Sampras has no doubts that Serbian Novak Djokovic is the one.

Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal are currently tied at 20 major singles titles apiece, and fans and pundits have continued to argue over who should be considered ‘GOAT’ Djokovic, 34, the youngest of the triumvirate, has been unmatched in consistency and success in recent years and has already claimed Federer’s long-standing record for holding the men’s world rankings for most weeks.

This month, the Serbian broke ties with his childhood idol, Sampras, winning the end-of-year world rankings seven times, a record. “Seven years, for him I’m sure he sees this as a bonus for all the majors he’s won,” said Sampras, who won 14 major singles titles before retiring after the US Open 2002, said the ATP Tour. website.

“But I think he’ll appreciate it more as he gets older. He did so at a time when he dominated two of the greats, Roger and Rafa, and he’s handled the next generation of players very well – all at the same time. “I think what Novak has done in the last 10 years, winning majors, being consistent, finishing number one for seven years is a clear sign to me that he is the greatest ever. . “

Djokovic, who also won a record 37th ATP Masters title in Paris this month, received the year-end world number one trophy on Monday in Turin, Italy, following his victory over Norway’s Casper Ruud in the end-of-season ATP finals. “I’ve been ‘The Man’ for that number of years, and he’s been even more ‘The Man’,” Sampras said.

“I think he’s been more consistent, he’s won more events, he’s got more majors. I could go on talking about his career. I don’t think you’ll see (the end-of-seven number one ‘year).”

P7 Sports Academy aims to attract sporting events for young people in Memphis

By Sports events

Cordova’s P7 Sports Academy, a $ 3.3 million gymnasium, opened in late October and is already attracting a number of youth tournaments.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Cole Photopolus donned his basketball sneakers and joined his teammates on one of the four open basketball courts. His team, the Briarcrest Saints, were preparing to face a visiting team.

“Get out there and be a bucket,” Photopolus said of his approach to the game.

The 14-year-old is one of the thousands who will be able to benefit from the new P7 Sports Academy in Cordoba. The $ 3.3 million gymnasium opened in late October and is already attracting a number of youth tournaments. Photopolus said he had never been to a gym like P7’s.

“I thought it was really cool. I’ve never seen anything like it, ”he said. “I went to my school gym and it’s pretty cool, but it’s nothing compared to that.”

The sports academy is an extension of Perfect Seven Sports, which already hosts major 7v7 football tournaments. The group saw the opportunity to develop into what their partner Darin Pounds has called a ‘void in the Memphis community’.

“When we sat down with the group (partner), we asked, ‘What can we do? “And it was really trying to come back into the community and create an environment, a great place for the kids, great facilities, a nice place to come and train,” Pounds said.

The space is approximately 55,000 square feet, including several basketball and volleyball courts and a 90 ‘x 120’ training area covered with artificial turf with gymnastic equipment. This space can also be transformed into an additional courtyard. In addition to purchasing the facility, Pounds said the group spent another “seven-figure investment” to convert the space to what it is today, including LED lighting and Dashboards.

P7 Sports Academy partners with Sports in 3 stages based in Boston. The company said it was the largest organizer of sporting events and youth clubs in the country. The partnership has enabled P7 to bring the Memphis Swarm AAU basketball and Memphis Junior Volleyball organizations to train and play in the facility.

“In this area, I’ve never seen a facility like this,” said Tavaris Boga, coach of Memphis Swarm and director of basketball operations for P7. “I think they’re going to give the kids of Memphis a lot of head start because the most important thing, especially around the COVID zone, is to have a gym space. Now you have a place to come train, come train, come play, be in the big leagues, in the best part of town.

Space was particularly an issue for Memphis Juniors. Danis Fueling has been the director of the youth volleyball organization for 11 years. The Memphis organization hosted its tournaments in Tunica, Mississippi, where 9 courts were available at a time.

“I mean, there’s nothing in Tunica. So, you know, parents drive one way to get there and decide if they’re going to stay overnight or not, ”Fueling said. “We will have nine courts for our tournament here. We can hold out here this year, so that’s a huge advantage for us.

Fueling said the upgrade to the P7 Sports Academy has seen their organization grow 30% from 19 teams to 28 teams. Hosting tournaments naturally brings in scouts and college coaches that Fueling can accommodate even if they can’t make it to Memphis.

“We can broadcast here, so we can broadcast practice, we can do skills, we can broadcast tournaments,” Fueling said. “So if a varsity coach can’t participate, a recruiter can’t, then we can connect them and be able to do it, they can be wherever they are and broadcast and watch an athlete here. They don’t need to be here.

Boga said Memphis is naturally a great basketball town with the nationally significant University of Memphis basketball team and the Memphis Grizzlies playing just up the road. The competition is fierce and, like Fueling, he is eager to draw recruiters’ attention to local athletes when P7 attracts tournaments from organizations like Adidas, Under protection, and Coast to Coast Preparations.

“The competition in Memphis is very, very important, but to have some of these major tournaments here now instead of just moving around and going to these tournaments, it’s going to be big,” Boga said. “We have some of the greatest players of all time coming to the city of Memphis and I don’t think we’re highlighted as much as we should be.”

P7 opened at the end of October and already has 25 events scheduled until 2022. Photopolus is delighted to face competition from across the country.

“I love everything about it. The courts are cool. The lighting is nice,” Photopolus said. “I’ve never played tournaments on a pitch like this before so it’s going to be fun. “

NCR mayors: fully vaxxed OK at contact sporting events

By Sports events

Mayors’ recommendations still need to be approved by the IATF

MANILA—The Metro Manila Council has recommended a set of guidelines when hosting contact sporting events in the NCR.

This developed as the inter-agency task force turned on green events in areas under Alert Level 2, the second most lenient in a government alert level system put in place to curb the transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In the recommended guidelines, read out by MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos at a press conference on Saturday, everyone at the venue – players and spectators – must be fully vaccinated before being allowed to play or play. watch sporting events, indoors or outdoors.

Contact sports, although not specifically mentioned by Abalos, are described as games which:

  • Emphasize or require physical contact between players;
  • Accumulate scores by deliberately kicking, punching or impacting an opponent; Where
  • Presents the risk of contact between players, “if considered accidental, fouled or penalized according to the rules of the game”.

“Considering that in the conduct of a contact sport, players are subject to contact, while spectators are made to applaud, jeer or shout, only vaccinated adults and minors are permitted to play or watch whether in an organized protest or not,” Abalos said.

“Ang hinihingi namin, maski sa labas, bakunado, mas hinihigpitan namin.”

(We ask that they be fully vaccinated, even [if the event will be held] outside. We are more strict with this.)

People are considered fully vaccinated if it has been 2 weeks since their second dose, or 2 weeks after being bitten with a single-dose vaccine such as Johnson and Johnson.

Players must also wear their mask when sitting on the bench. They are allowed to remove them while playing. Spectators and other staff must wear such a mask at all times.

Organizers must also obtain permissions from the LGU where the event will take place and declare important information about the event, such as the number of participants. They must also ensure the implementation of public health standards, such as the collection of participant health declaration forms, the verification of vaccination cards, among others.

If it is a small-scale street league, which the MMC defines as an “unorganized event”, the NCR mayors recommend obtaining permission from a barangay official or property owners. premises.

“The relevant official and/or venue owners must oversee and ensure compliance with venue capacity and vaccination requirements. Siguro marami tayong tanod diyan, hihingi lang ang vaccination card, ‘yung mga ganoon, are vaccinated or not.),” Abalos said.

Abalos, however, reiterated that these were still recommendations pending pandemic task force approval.

Negative behaviors increase during high school sports events in Maine

After a restricted fall sports season last year due to the pandemic, high school athletes, coaches and sports fans happily greeted a more traditional season this year. However, one notable difference was the increase in fan numbers at high school sporting events, and with that came unwelcome fan behavior. “I haven’t thrown a child out of a play in years, and I saw the child throw something, and I just knocked him down and escorted him with a police officer,” said Kennebunk High school’s athletic director Joe Schwartzman. Spectators can attend high school indoor sporting events starting next week

By Sports events

Thunder Bay school boards will allow two spectators per student-athlete.

THUNDER BAY – Starting Tuesday, November 16, family and friends will once again be able to attend high school indoor sporting events in person in Thunder Bay.

This is the day the playoff season begins.

“This is great news,” said Dave Pineau, director of operations for Lakehead Public Schools and the Thunder Bay District Catholic School Board.

Pineau said boards of directors had been working on the plan for some time and hoped to implement it sooner.

“At the start of the season, the goal was to involve and activate the students. We really wanted to take a close look before opening… to make sure we were safe.

He noted that in some Ontario communities, spikes in COVID-19 cases have caused councils to suspend plans to allow spectators.

Protocols related to COVID-19 will be in place, including a requirement for medical grade face masks, in accordance with Department of Education guidelines.

Participation is limited to two spectators for each student athlete, with priority given to parents and guardians.

The security guards will receive the names of the student-athletes to manage the presence of family members.

The remaining places will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis.

“When someone comes to the door, they’ll indicate who they’re attached to and we’ll have two spots per player. Beyond that, they’ll be on the general public list,” Pineau said.

The remaining places will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis, depending on the size of the facility.

All participants must complete and pass Ontario’s COVID-19 school and child care program screening and show proof of full vaccination at the door.

Medical masks should be worn over the mouth and nose at all times, and family groups should sit together and move away from others.

Signs advise spectators to be at the venue no later than 30 minutes before match time and be prepared to provide contact tracing information upon arrival.

“We are delighted to welcome families again. Hope everyone is as excited as we are, ”said Pineau.

“We are aiming for a good season in the playoffs.

School communities can visit the SSAA website for information about the event.

NBA-Curry MVP odds improve after 50-point explosion

By Sports games

Golden State goaltender Stephen Curry’s odds of winning the regular season MVP rose on Tuesday after his performance of 50 points and 10 assists in the Warriors’ win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. Three-time champion Curry, who won MVP honors in the 2015 and 2016 seasons, connected on nine three-pointers and was 14 for 28 on the field in the 127-113 win in San Francisco.

With the win, the Warriors moved up to a better 9-1 in the NBA in the young season. The crowd chanted “MVP” as Curry made it to the free throw line, where he was a perfect 13-for-13. Curry is now the favorite to win the trophy for the third time with odds of +200, or 2-1, SportsBetting.ag said on Tuesday.

The next closest competitors are Giannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee and Kevin Durant of Brooklyn at 13-2, or +650. Curry entered the season with an 8-1 MVP rating, the website said.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr marveled at Curry’s dazzling play. “It was just a mind-blowing performance from Steph,” Kerr said, according to ESPN.

“He was amazing. I mean I’ve never seen anything like it, but I’ve been watching him for seven years so I saw something like this and it’s still amazing to watch.”

Joint stress-free exercise – the royal gazette

By Sports events

Updated: November 10, 2021 at 7:51 AM

Low impact exercise provides all the benefits of a more strenuous activity such as running without putting additional stress on muscles and joints.

Regular swimming and walking, for example, can reduce the risk of heart disease, improve fitness, and manage weight without straining the joints.

Check out some of the unique benefits of these low impact sports.

Walking

Walking is of course the first on the list. It’s something we do every day and it’s easy to get to because you don’t need fancy equipment. It’s absolutely free and it doesn’t even require transportation. Just put on some comfy sneakers, clothes, and possibly a rain jacket lately and get out into the fresh air.

Walking is considered a cardiovascular activity, which means that it works the heart and lungs to supply the muscles with oxygen-rich blood. Muscles need oxygen to move efficiently. Remember that a light walk will not give you these effects, so try to keep your walking at a moderate pace that allows you to increase your heart rate – you should feel short of breath.

For beginners, get some friends together and start with a few scheduled hourly walks each week. For advanced walkers, try doing a 10k walk early in the week, then a few 5k walks in between. Try to find a group that regularly walks a longer distance.

To swim

It’s a low impact exercise that I haven’t mastered yet. However, for those of you who are comfortable in the water, laps in a pool or the ocean – if you can brave the winter temperatures – provide a great workout all year round without putting too much strain on the legs. muscles or joints in particular. Water also supports your body when you swim, which means it is a no-load activity. The best part is that swimming is something that can be done over the course of your life and you won’t need to stop as you get older.

Every time you go for a swim, try something different – swim a little further, or try water aerobics or running which has the same benefits as running without impacting your joints.

Cycling

There are so many varieties of cycling that it’s easy to find one to enjoy. There is indoor group cycling like spinning; there are online Peloton courses and of course outdoor cycling. Cycling is great because it is a workout that does not involve a heavy impact on the joints, nor puts too much stress on the body. Like brisk walking, biking is considered a cardiovascular activity because it benefits the heart and lungs, and it works many different muscles.

In order to get the most out of the bike, try to ride at least 1.5 to 2 hours per week. Cycling to work or riding on the weekends can help you achieve this goal. You can also join a local cycling group to help with consistency.

Exercise classes

Exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi are taken slowly and are great options for low impact sports. These activities also build on strength and flexibility as you practice.

Fitness isn’t the only benefit of yoga. Research has shown that regular yoga practice for just three months can reduce anxiety, fatigue, and stress because it lowers levels of cortisol, one of our main stress hormones.

So keep in mind that while you need to reduce your impact, you can still get in shape and release stress through some of the activities above.

Frequently Asked Questions About Monitors For Sports Games

Gaming monitors can be quite technical at times and therefore difficult to understand, but don’t worry as we’re here to clear up some of the most common sports gaming queries.

Why do I need a monitor instead of a TV for sports games?

Strictly speaking, you don’t need a monitor on a TV for sports games or gaming in general, but a typical monitor will include a number of key features that will make it superior to a TV, especially for competitive games.

Generally, monitors are more responsive thanks to their lower input lag and higher refresh rates, so if you’re playing Madden online, you’ll probably be grateful.

That being said, a TV is slightly more versatile because of course you can watch TV on it, stream movies, and play video games on one device.

What features should I look for?

There are a number of features to watch out for to help improve your sports experience, for example, monitor refresh rate and resolution.

Refresh rate is key to keeping your sports game running smoothly and is vital in competitive online matches, so you will preferably want a monitor with a higher count in this category, anything above 144Hz should be fine.

Monitor resolution is also important to consider as you ideally want a higher resolution so that your sports game is displayed in the best possible detail, however, a higher resolution can sometimes reduce refresh rates.

You will also need to take into account the response time and input lag, that is, the time it takes between pressing a button on your controller or keyboard and the corresponding action taking place on your keyboard. ‘screen, as you would prefer this to be less than 1ms. .

Do you need an HDMI 2.1 monitor to play at 120Hz?

In short, no, but you will need it if you want to play at 120Hz at 4K, which is very likely if you have one of the next gen consoles like the PS5.

It is therefore recommended that you check whether the monitor you are planning to purchase is compatible with the console you are trying to use, and this information can usually be found in the specifications of the monitor.

Year of Prayer – The Royal Gazette

By Sports events

Updated: 09 Nov 2021 8:07 AM

The resumption of Parliament will be remembered more for the opening prayer than for the Speech from the Throne. I received more WhatsApp links from the prayer and ironically I did not receive any links from the Speech from the Throne. I would venture to think that prayer was a hot topic on social media and was circulating throughout the island.

Pastor Georgette Prime-Godwin poured her heart and soul into a captivating prayer that lasted at least 20 minutes or more. Considering this, it was November 5 and Guy Fawkes Day, who saw a foiled plot in 1605 by a disgruntled Catholic to blow up the Houses of Parliament. I think this prayer was a spiritual type firebomb that was totally unforeseen.

Reverend Georgette Prime-Godwin was the star of the show on the Resumption of Parliament last Friday (Photo provided)

Georgette, whom I have known since she was a child, grew up in the great old Vernon Temple Church in Southampton which, like St Paul’s of Hamilton, was created by very strong people. Perhaps one of the best environments in the world for a child to have developed, an environment that cultivates self-esteem and cause, especially in the 1960s and 1970s when the church was at its peak.

The pastor’s prayer, which some might support was not characteristic of parliamentary openness, was revealing of the time, given that we are suffering the ravages of the pandemic – and then there were two gruesome and brazen murders, two road deaths and the Covid-19 death toll exceeding 106. It is therefore a disturbing and very worrying situation with many reasons to pray. No words were lost in her prayer, which echoed a new mood in the community at large. The community is raging and very noisy; Pastor Georgette Prime-Godwin is a manifestation of this.

It was the first opening of Parliament for the new governor, and it was interesting to see a lady adorned in ceremonial dress. An event that on its own as the first female governor was enough to be celebrated and to attract attention, but even that was obscured and overshadowed by prayer.

The prayer reminded me of some of my family’s folklore concerning my great-grandfather, George Deshield, who was a very religious and devout Christian man. Whenever the Deshield family gathered on such occasions as Christmas or Easter, he led the prayer before meals.

He was known for his long prayers and it was said that one of his brothers, Jeffrey Deshield, the grandfather of Myrtle Edness and great-grandfather of Dame Jennifer Smith, would come deliberately late because, as he had said, George’s prayers were too long. . Great-grandmother Clara naturally did not prepare the food until after the prayer lest it get cold by the time he finished praying.

I come from a tradition of Islam, where the speeches were short and the prayers and supplications were long, so I have no objection to asking God to heal our lands. I suspect Pastor Georgette remembers the song and the Bible verse too well “If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray”. After all, it is God who guides, and when we forget who really rules and believe that we are solely responsible without any oversight, we expose ourselves to disappointment and failure.

Perhaps it could have been a blessing in disguise because the prayer hijacked the Speech from the Throne, which was not meant to be brilliant of inspiration. The Speech from the Throne is widely expected by the business community, but viewed by the community at large as mere “compulsory rhetoric.”

I don’t think there will ever be another opening prayer in the future of parliamentary openings like this. It will go down in history and be known as “The Prayer”, and ironically Guy Fawkes Day.

This opening was not the political process as usual; it was an intervention that sparked a lot of debate in the community, especially on the moral integrity of leadership. Unless we consider the The Lord’s Prayer, I don’t think there ever was a time when a prayer was singled out or commemorated as the main event above a speech.

It happened and we have to take it for what it was. It is now inscribed in the history of our parliament, which will remain a point of reflection for a long time. Maybe forever.

Know your place … – The Royal Gazette

By Sports events

“What concerns me is that the problem is no longer in the back of town. You are dealing with an element that knows no borders.– Paul King (Owner of Robin des Bois)

“Bermuda still suffers from too many dysfunctional families. It must provide support to young people at risk and their parents. This would prevent people from joining gangs and not only prevent horrific tragedies such as the Robin Hood shooting, but reduce youth unemployment and the general atmosphere of desperation that plagues too many young people today.

– Editorial of the Royal Gazette

Paul King also said that if the chaos, violence and death occasionally inflicted on Robin Hood a fortnight ago, resulting in the gruesome murders of two young black men, were confined to the grounds of Court Street, Middle Town Road, Would Broom Street in Somerset or Horseshoe Road in Southampton be much more tolerable?

Out of sight, out of mind, perhaps? That if they knew their borders or, as we like to say in Bermuda, if they knew their place – they are the so-called members of black gangs – than he and countless other inhabitants of other Bermuda who are overwhelmingly whites, I might add, could continue to live their lives isolated from the reality of what has become of Bermuda’s black working-class communities from top to bottom of that island.

Was it worse than Sir John Swan’s comment “Black men are the problem” over three decades ago? Otherwise, he dubiously won the second place of all time.

To add insult to injury, condescension Gazette the editorial states that Bermuda has too many dysfunctional families. Of course, the editorial makes it clear that the exclusive reference here is to black families and young black men. And, if we accept that all of the referenced families are black, which is pretty clear, what does that say about white Bermuda families and young white males.

Let me say this, I gave an interview to this newspaper through reporter Jonathan Bell, which was in print last week and which reflected an analysis of the problem around this issue. Included were the kinds of public policies that were needed to fundamentally change the more than two-decade-long trajectory of this destructive trend that is now multigenerational. To my surprise the Gazette omitted them. Which was no more than two to three sentences. These recommendations also virtually mirrored those presented by the Social Justice Group.

On the other hand, the social justice group echoed my call to tackle the underlying causation – and included at a minimum the kinds of policies that are needed. I appreciated them for doing it.

Fundamentally, what has been behind these horrific results since the turn of this century are the extraordinarily high levels of income inequality Bermuda has endured and its impact on those at the bottom of the income distribution. income on the island, which were largely its black residents because of pre-existing racial disparities around employment, wages and social mobility at the very least. For the working poor blacks, their neighborhoods and their households in Bermuda, it has been devastating.

It was the work of former Bank of Bermuda economist Robert Stubbs that opened my eyes to the levels of income inequality that began to grow quite robustly at the turn of the 21st century. His findings will be found later in this document and have helped inform my deliberations around the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Living Wage.

What was really intriguing was how he demonstrated how the impacts of this increase in income inequality showed the same destructive effects seen in other Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries in this regard. which concerns homicides. My later research would also reveal its connection to gang formation, violence, and declining social mobility.

Moreover, income inequality at these levels has its most destructive impact on those at the bottom of the income distribution. This is why the only truly sustainable and effective response, as research confirms, is to put in place public policies designed to produce more equitable outcomes for people in these low-income groups – predominantly black Bermudans in our case. – through redistributive policies.

Here are the types of public policies that I proposed last week:

• Tax restructuring to bring more fairness to the system by removing the tax burden on working poor who are predominantly black in Bermuda by guaranteeing wealthy corporations – especially in international trade and Bermuda companies such as Belco and its parent company , along with Colonial and Dunkley’s – pay their fair share.

• A living wage

• An in-depth restructuring of our health system with the implementation of a model based on some variation of a single-payer system in order to produce universal access

• A legislative affirmative action framework to ensure racial diversity and inclusion throughout our economy for qualified black Bermudans and black-owned businesses with respect to government procurement and contract contracts. investment projects. To think that after two decades of the Progressive Labor Party government this has still not been achieved, in fact, is mind boggling. If we really want to leave the race behind, it starts here with putting in place the race-based remedies needed to make it happen. This is how we begin to close this sordid chapter

• A real unemployment insurance scheme

And the main culprit for rising income inequality in Bermuda? In my opinion, the massive growth of the international business and financial services sector during the same period is indisputable. In a previous article, I explained how, on its own insurance industry website, the Bermuda Association of Insurers and Reinsurers boasts that 62% of all economic activity in Bermuda comes from its industry. In addition, 42 percent of all payroll tax revenue comes from around 18 companies in this predominantly insurance industry.

International trade is the most lucrative sector of this economy, but where blacks are a distinct minority. Has this sector brought major economic benefits to Bermuda? Of course he has. But we cannot ignore that it has also brought in its wake serious upheavals that have increasingly taken their toll.

And if I am right, it is clear that they are not paying enough taxes from afar to mitigate these impacts.

I know correlation is not causation, but if you look at the increase in gang formation in the late 1990s through the period between 2008 and 2010, two things happened: the massive growth in international trade in Bermuda after 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, as well as the massive epidemic of gang killings among a subgroup of young black Bermuda men from low-income households who were historically viewed as surplus by in relation to needs.

Rolfe Commissiong was the Progressive Labor Party MP for Pembroke South East (Constituency 21) between December 2012 and August 2020, and the former chairman of the Joint Select Committee considering the establishment of a living wage.

There were other factors as well – two in particular – but the main one was the phenomenal growth in international trade during this period. And the destructive impacts of living in a country with high levels of income inequality, as most global research shows:

• Gang formation

• Gang violence

• Increase in the number of capital crimes (murders)

• Increase in poverty levels (relative and real)

• Exacerbating racial disparities, which have widened across a range of employment, income and health categories, especially for black men (a variation of Bermuda)

• Decreased social mobility

• Growth of illicit economies

Other factors that worked in tandem, underscored by the growth in international trade, were the race to the bottom of wages through the adoption by Bermuda employers of a low-cost, medium-skilled foreign workforce. , which is why a living wage is critical and should have been implemented two or three years ago if not for our Tory Prime Minister, who, along with the Wall Street banker (Finance Minister Curtis Dickinson), now has under -treated the restructuring of our economy at KPMG for possibly what will be a king’s ransom.

Another factor has been the role of technological change and the loss of jobs, including in banking and international affairs over the past two decades as well.

But why have we seen these impacts emanate only from Bermuda’s low-income black communities and households? After all, black residents make up only 56% of the population. To me, the answer is up to us for all to see and you can’t expect it. This is because white Bermuda residents have on average higher income levels and multigenerational wealth to, in effect, isolate themselves from the worst impacts of living in a country with such high levels of income inequality. .

And that will remain the reality. As long as they stay in their place …

Sporting events in England allowed to resume from Monday

By Sports events

MANCHESTER, England – Sporting events will be allowed to resume in England from Monday, without any spectators and provided they follow government protocols on coronaviruses.

The guidelines for elite sports organizations were released by the government on Saturday as the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions that were imposed in March are further relaxed.

It paves the way for the planned June 17 return of the Premier League, the richest football competition in the world. The guidelines include a demand that social distancing be maintained in matches “during any dispute between players and referees, or during goal celebrations.”

Horse racing and snooker have already scheduled events for Monday in anticipation of the end of an 11-week sports hiatus.

“The wait is over,” Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said. “Live UK sport will soon be back in safe and carefully vetted environments.”

Athletes and other staff should travel to venues individually and by private transport when possible. Screening for coronavirus symptoms is mandatory before entering.

When social distancing cannot be maintained – by staying within 2 meters (6 feet) of each other – activities should be assessed and mitigated. Media have been asked to “minimize crossing” with other people on the site, including gamers.

“These guidelines provide a secure framework for sports to resume competition behind closed doors,” said Dowden. “It is now up to individual sports to confirm that they can follow these protocols and to decide when it is right for them to restart.

“This is an important moment for British sport. By working with clinicians every step of the way, we are creating the safest possible environments for everyone involved.”

The first major event after the sport returns is expected to be the 2,000 Guineas horse race next Saturday in Newmarket, with jockeys wearing face masks.

But the government is not yet ready to allow the resumption of non-elitist sports, denying ordinary citizens the opportunity to play cricket and football in a park.

“We are working hard to get grassroots sport back on line safely as well, so that people can reunite with their own football, rugby or cricket teammates and return to their fields, fields or athletics tracks,” said Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston. “But we will only do so when it is safe and appropriate, based on scientific advice.”

However, the government will allow groups of six people from different households to exercise outdoors from Monday as long as they stay within 2 meters of each other. Currently, only two people from different households can meet.

Floridians can legally bet on sports games

By Sports games

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CAPITOL NEWS SERVICE) – For the first time, Floridians will be able to place legal sports bets on a game, thanks to the recent launch of the new Seminole Tribe sports betting app.

The Seminole Tribe app is the only legal way for Floridians to bet on sports, but that monopoly could be short-lived if a citizens’ initiative is on the ballot and is approved by voters next year.

The launch of the Hard Rock SportsBook app fully implements the $ 500 million per year gaming contract with the Seminole Tribe.

Sports betting accounts for $ 50 million of the transaction.

“It’s great to finally see all of this work come to fruition,” said State Representative Randy Fine.

Fine led the House’s efforts to approve the pact.

He hopes that the launch of the app will drive bettors out of the black market.

“A lot of people don’t want to break the law, and also people worry about the legitimacy of the game,” Fine said.

But others, like Senator Jeff Brandes, predict that the tribe’s monopoly on sports betting will have the opposite effect.

“What you’re going to find is that some people don’t want to place sports bets this way, so they’re going to use illegal apps,” Brandes said.

But supporters of a citizens’ initiative to fully legalize sports betting in Florida told us they had already gathered nearly half of the nearly 900,000 signatures required to conduct the 2022 ballot.

It is not surprising that the Seminole tribe is retreating.

He issued a second attack announcement in three weeks urging voters not to sign the petitions.

“Because we already have a plan that works for us,” said a man featured in the ad.

If the amendment passes, voters can decide whether to keep sports betting in the hands of the tribe or allow other companies like FanDuel and DraftKings to enter the Florida market.

The sports betting initiative, if approved by 60 percent of voters, allows the legislature to tax sports betting.

These revenues should be spent on education.

And Fine said that no matter what voters decide, the state will always cash in at least $ 450 million a year from the pact.

“So we’re still in a much better position than before the pact was passed,” Fine said.

And even if the sports betting market opens up, the Tribu Séminole will still be able to participate, it will only have to share the profits with the competitors.

High school sports events, longer games | Sports

By Sports events

Remember not too long ago when high school girls’ field hockey games took about an hour or a little longer to play? Add overtime, maybe 90 minutes, on top.

No more, unfortunately.

Recent game changes have added extra time to each varsity competition. They can now last around two hours, depending on the length of any overtime.

Previously, games were two regular 30-minute halves, with one five-minute halftime. This has changed recently. Matches now last four 15-minute quarters, with three-minute breaks between each. With the game stopping and starting and going back and forth around those breaks, two more three-minute breaks add up, so matches get much longer.

If a game is tied after settlement, there may be two 15-minute overtime periods, if neither team scores, with a short break in between. In addition, each overtime includes approximately a minute or more when the clock stops for teams to change sides of the field.

After these OTs, if necessary, more time is needed for the decisive penalty stroke session. All of this represents a lot of extra time and games that have become too long.

It’s no surprise, really. Overtime is consistent with the theme of all sports these days. Contests and events all last longer, as no serious steps are taken to shorten the action.

Another example is girls’ softball in high school. The games went fast and lasted about an hour. Now there’s a lot more drag time, so games consistently last a two-hour range. Ditto for baseball in high school.

Additional innings haven’t been added to either game, at least for now. The big change is that hitters are allowed to come out of the batter’s box after each pitch, and pitchers take way too long to pitch the next pitch.

It should all come to an end.

Some Inconvenient Truths – The Royal Gazette

By Sports events

Updated: 05 November 2021 8:04 AM

Mason Tee Saunders is doing his part to modernize nearly $ 700,000 worth of renovations to the 350-year-old St. James Church in this file photo. The decline in the number of Bermudan traders must be reversed, says Chris Famous.

Two decades ago, Vice President Al Gore presented what he called an inconvenient truth.

Since the early 2000s, there has been a continuous decline in the number of Bermudans working as skilled tradespeople

He spoke of the threat to the global climate from the continued growth of greenhouse gases, melting sea ice, increasing droughts, more severe hurricanes and rising sea levels.

Many laughed at him and refused to publicly acknowledge that he was right.

This week, world leaders, including those from affected countries in the Caribbean and Pacific, gather in Scotland at the United Nations COP26 to discuss and potentially agree on the way forward to reverse the near-looming threat.

Sadly, some say we are already past the tipping point.

Death of the trader

Over the past few decades, local traders across the board have stated that there simply aren’t enough young Bermuda ready to start learning skilled trades such as tiling, masonry and carpentry.

Columnist Khalid Wasi summed it up perfectly in a recent column titled “Death of the Tradesman”.

There is the moot point that wages were too low to attract young Bermudans.

Essentially, the 1990s saw a decline in Bermudians eager to work in the trades. This decline is not due to the lack of available work.

Houses and buildings will always need to be maintained, vehicles constantly break down, women will always need their hair and their hair, and the grass keeps growing.

We simply cannot have offices without working air conditioning units or restaurants without chefs to prepare meals.

In the absence of voluntary premises, the employers of yesterday and today have no choice but to seek qualified workers abroad.

Which leads to the harsh reality shown in a graph produced by economist Robert Stubbs, clearly indicating an increase in non-Bermudian workers from the 1990s, which coincides with the decline in Bermudan workers.

Anecdotal, you say?

Let’s take a look at some critical stats found in the 2021 Job Bulletin:

• Masons 60% non-Bermudian

• 77% non-Bermudian chefs

• 67% non-Bermudian tilers

• Auto mechanics 53% non-Bermudian

• Air conditioning / refrigeration technicians 30% non-Bermudian

So, for those who wish to learn a trade, there are plenty of full-time employment opportunities.

The tipping point

At COP26, world leaders have an obvious choice.

Roll back emissions or face irreversible global damage.

Some, like the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, are full of good intentions, while others will just take the stage and pontificate. Even more blatantly, the main culprits of global warming, Russia and China, are not even actively participating in the conference.

Here in Bermuda, we also have some obvious choices to make.

Keep complaining online or individually and collectively reverse our employment trends.

Teachers, parents and extended family should encourage our young people from an early age to look to technical fields. These fields provide a path for young people with lifelong careers and owning their businesses.

There are several avenues such as Bermuda College, the Department of Workforce Development, the Construction Association of Bermuda and simply becoming an apprentice.

We have a duty, to be honest with ourselves, that as a country we have to do better to train our people. We cannot blame others for our shortcomings.

Here, my Bermudan compatriots, the inconvenient truth.

Best sporting events for betting

By Sports events

Sports betting enthusiasts don’t need a special occasion to try their luck. Any off-season match between two underdogs is already enough for some players to have a good time. Still, there are some competitions that just can’t be missed for casual and regular players. In this article, we are going to talk about each of them and understand why they are so popular.

Same passion, different rules

Sports betting has been around since at least the ancient Greeks. Yet many countries have hostile policies towards gambling. Indeed, the rules may vary even between countries that have regulated the activity. In countries like Finland, for example, the activity is legalized but also heavily regulated. Always, Finnish players have a lot casino and sports betting options to choose from.

Although preferences may change locally, some competitions attract fans from all over the world. Learn more about them below.

Fifa World Cup

Football remains one of the most popular sports in the world. It is a competition which involves the best national teams and the best players of the moment. The last edition, in 2018, attracted more more than 3.5 billion viewers for all 64 games. Even more impressive is the estimated betting volume for this competition: $ 136 billion. The final game alone drew $ 7.2 billion.

However, football fans don’t have to wait four years to bet on their favorite game. Many other exciting competitions take place each year, at national and continental levels.

NFL Super Bowl

In terms of global interest, the Super Bowl lags far behind football competitions. Yet it is a runaway success in the United States and attracts fans from all over the world. In 2015, the match reached its audience record. The famous league was broadcast in 180 countries and over 20 languages.

The Super Bowl has a few exclusive attractions for bettors. Examples include the halftime show, the coin toss, and other small bets that keep all levels of players engaged during the game. Last year, a single game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs received $ 7 billion.

NBA / March Madness

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the United States, in a close conflict with American football. The NBA league is one of the most watched domestic leagues in the sport, but there are others, even in the United States. College basketball is also gaining a lot of space, and March Madness is the most important.

According to the American Gaming Association, more than 45 million Americans play in this month-long competition. This means a betting volume of almost $ 9 billion. While March Madness’s games aren’t as popular as the Super Bowl’s, they could attract nearly double its betting volume.

Cricket world cup

It may surprise some readers, but cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is incredibly famous in India, Bangladesh, Australia and other countries in this region. 1.6 billion fans watched the last edition of the Cricket World Cup, but when it comes to cricket betting it is the Indian Premier League that attracts colossal sums, especially towards the final matches.

Kentucky Derby / The Grand National

Horse racing is one of the most traditional sports in sports betting. The Grand National is an English race followed by royalty. Not only the Queen follows him, but also around half a billion people, in more than 120 countries. The Kentucky Derby isn’t quite as traditional, but it’s still one of the premier equestrian tracks in the United States.

Eyes into the future

The landscape of the sports betting market is changing. Players can also try their luck on online virtual games that have nothing to do with traditional sports. These games are called “electronic sports”, or simply “eSports”. ESports competitions are increasing in number, professionalism and audience. Check out some of the top competitions in this niche below.

League of Legends World Championship

LoL is definitely the most played online game from the moment. The game developed by Riot Games has no less than 100 million players every month. Unsurprisingly, LoL World Championship is among the most watched eSports competitions, attracting many young players as well.

CS: GO

Counter-Strike is one of the more traditional online shooting games. It was released in 1999 as a modification of the original Half-Life. The version played in this tournament is called Counter-Strike – Global Offensive. Valve powered this event as well, and it is right behind League of Legends in popularity, price, and betting volume.

The international

The International, also known as TI, is an annual tournament with 16 teams hosted by Valve. The match revolves around the game Dota 2 and even has qualifying rounds per region. Valve partially funds the prize money, and the rest is added through crowdfunding, using a portion of the Battle Pass sales. Last year the price was $ 25,532,177.

Conclusion

Whatever sport you choose, information is essential for conscious and educated betting. Experts suggest that new players choose sports with which they have at least some affinity. This will facilitate the research necessary to place a solid bet.

Grand Erie to allow fans to indoor high school sporting events

By Sports events

Content of the article

The Grand Erie District School Board has announced plans to allow a limited number of spectators to attend indoor sporting events in high schools.

Content of the article

“We are pleased to be able to offer family members and friends the opportunity to see these excellent student-athletes perform, and to always have protocols in place to help protect everyone’s health and safety,” said Director of Education JoAnna Roberto said in a press release.

The plan, which goes into effect on November 8, will see two tickets provided to each student-athlete.

People attending events with the ticket must be double vaccinated, wear masks and be seated at least two meters away from all people outside their homes.

Tickets will be signed and dated by the coach of each team.

The board noted that its plan could change based on COVID-19 numbers.

Earlier this week, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board announced plans to allow fans to attend high school indoor sporting events.

The move comes as some teams from the Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk have started the playoffs, while others will do so next week.

The AABHN District 5 basketball playoffs begin Nov. 8 with the quarterfinals. The semi-finals will be played on November 11 and the finals will follow on November 15.

The District 5 volleyball quarter-finals will be on November 8 and the semi-finals on November 11. The championship games will take place on November 16.

Bally Sports app crashes nationwide during NBA and NHL games

By Sports app

The Bally Sports app was down for apparently everyone on a Wednesday night showing NBA and NHL games broadcast – or, which were supposed to be broadcast – on the regional sports network.

We tried it on the Bally Sports Roku app for the Los Angeles Clippers broadcast for their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and we encountered a consistently slow load that eventually resulted in various error messages over the course of the 30 minutes ( this has done we have to at least watch video ads on multiple trials!). Finally, the app started working… just in time for the post-game show.

And we tried this after seeing a significant number of social media users report that the app was down. Overall, it appears the app crashed for about an hour and at crucial points in some of the games.

This app (and RSN as a whole) has received a lot of reviews even when it actually works.

Here’s a sample of how Twitter users reacted to the downtime of the Bally Sports app:

Bally Sports released the following statement to Awful Annoncing:

“Our streaming provider encountered a technical issue this evening that affected Bally Sports. The issue has been fixed and all feeds are now fully functional. We apologize to our viewers for the disruption. “

EVSC winter sports events will be streamed live for free

By Sports events

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union are teaming up again to provide free access to live streaming of winter sporting events.

The partnership between the two organizations will allow fans to watch winter sporting events from the five EVSC gyms from the comfort of their own homes.

Last year, the two organizations teamed up to offer the live streaming service amid the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing tens of thousands of unique viewers to access girls ‘and boys’ sporting events, first-year teams at university.

While there are currently no restrictions on participation in sporting events, organizations hope the service will continue to provide an option for those not comfortable with large crowds, as well as those who can’t make it to gyms.

The first live broadcast of the season will take place on Saturday, November 6, when Central hosts Terre Haute North in women’s basketball.

You can find a full schedule of games and connect to live streamed events at ihsaatv.org/evsc.

ES Broadcast selects Telestream PRISM to monitor sporting events

By Sports events

Munich, Germany—ES Broadcast Hire has offices in the UK, Spain, Germany and the US. As the leader in rental of broadcast equipment in Europe, we are particularly focused on the supply of equipment for events and broadcast production. One of our specialties is the support of IP and remote production systems for live events.

When it came to testing signal monitoring equipment and products, we were looking for a single system that was versatile enough to support hybrid SDI or IP workflows for live production, content editing and trust monitoring from SD to 8K in multiple color spaces. Since multiple audio streams also circulate over IP, having comprehensive audio tools was on our wishlist as well.

FRIENDLY INDEPENDENT

Recognizing that operators have varied backgrounds and experiences, we wanted a system that was easy to use and learn, as our customers often hire freelance staff and set up temporary facilities. The ideal system would satisfy multiple use cases and operator positions; the last thing we wanted was to overwhelm an operator with endless menus and features they wouldn’t need.

With that in mind, we preferred a system in which the user interface could be “dressed” to match the job / function on demand.

After taking a close look at the options available with a major customer, we purchased 12 Telestream PRISM waveform monitors after the PRISM platform was requested for use in the IP Broadcast Center for several major sporting events. international over the summer and winter of 2021. Our client used the PRISM Waveform Monitors at several engineering positions and for creative monitoring of editorial signals, including camera shading and color correction, while supporting resolutions up to 8K.

PRISM has proven to be extremely flexible whether the signal path is over ST 2110 or SDI, and has delivered results at all resolutions while ensuring that production teams maximize the potential of Wide Color Gamut (WCG) formats. A vital part of the underlying IP infrastructure, PRISM monitors also allowed engineers to accurately time signals and quickly and easily identify any issues with the timing of the PTP (Precision Time Protocol) signal between positions. , especially in the high-pressure environment of live sports broadcasting.

REMOTE CONFIGURATION

Now that PRISM systems are part of our rental inventory, we are seeing the broader benefit of remote configuration as the systems are often on the road for extended deployments. The ability to simply reconfigure PRISM systems or update them in the field with new functionality addresses a key part of our requirement to provide the latest and cutting edge equipment to our customers.

Without returning the units to base, our staff can reconfigure menus and remote displays to match any use case or even just to meet individual customer preferences. Unlike traditional waveform monitors, when operating in IP mode, PRISM systems can support audio analysis for Dolby E / D / D +, including surround sound displays. Operators can monitor levels, clipping, silence, and even loudness compliance.

In these difficult times, one of the features our customers rely on is the ability to view signals and manage the PRISM system remotely through a simple but secure web interface. As productions continue to work with fewer onsite staff due to pandemic restrictions, these remote capabilities have become invaluable and mean compromises on quality are never made.

We have a long history of working with Tektronix video products and we are pleased to see that product and development has strengthened under the Telestream brand.
